OPI Burlesque Collection for Holiday 2010 Swatches & Review – Part I

OPI Burlesque OPI Burlesque Collection for Holiday 2010 Swatches & Review Part I

OPI has released a collection of 12 new colors called Burlesque for holiday/winter 2010.

All of the new colors are either shimmery glitter or are super colorful chunky glitters. Today I’ve got the shimmery glitters to show you. These are all very rich and saturated.

The formula was pretty good with all of these. They had good coverage for the most part and were not too thick or thin. Removal can be a mess since the tiny shimmery bits tend to get all over your fingers, but it’s the price we pay!

OPI Rising Star OPI Burlesque Collection for Holiday 2010 Swatches & Review Part I
Rising Star

Rising Star is a copper/gold color. This is a very pretty warm color with a heavy metallic/foil look. It was a little more sheer than some of the other so I used three coats.

OPI Let Me Entartain You OPI Burlesque Collection for Holiday 2010 Swatches & Review Part I
Let Me Entertain You!

Let Me Entertain You! is a bright fuchsia pink with pink glitter. I love this color because it’s bright, uber-pink and just fun. I don’t think it’s totally unique, but I like it anyway. This was three coats.

OPI Take The Stage OPI Burlesque Collection for Holiday 2010 Swatches & Review Part I
Take The Stage

Take The Stage is a burnt orange color with lots of yellow/gold. This is really deep and glowy and quite pretty. This was two coats.

OPI The Show Must Go On OPI Burlesque Collection for Holiday 2010 Swatches & Review Part I
The Show Must Go On

The Show Must Go On is a raspberry pink color. Pretty but I prefer Let Me Entertain You! to this pink. This was three coats.

OPI Alis Big Break OPI Burlesque Collection for Holiday 2010 Swatches & Review Part I
Ali’s Big Break

Ali’s Big Break is a bright cherry red. This is a really pretty, flattering happy-looking red, and I like it a lot. It’s on the cool side so goes with my skin tone really nicely. This was two coats.

OPI Teasey Does It OPI Burlesque Collection for Holiday 2010 Swatches & Review Part I
Teasy Does It

Teasy Does It is a deep purple/brown with lit-from-within glitter. WOW. This one blows them all out of the water as far as I’m concerned. The color is so saturated and deep, and the glow is so nice. I wish the whole collection was more like this! This was two coats.

Overall:

These six are all nice, though I feel some have been seen before. The definite must have for me would be Teasey Does It. Nice to have would be Let Me Entertain You! and Ali’s Big Break.

Which of these calls your name?

One of those collections that just doesn’t have appeal for me, though Teasey Does It is pretty.

  • Rising Star keeps calling my name and I have no idea why…maybe because it reminds me of fall leaves. I also really like Teasy Does It…great vampy!!

  • Just applied Take the Stage and fell in love with the glittery metallic foil. Now pondering about getting the other metallic foil – Rising Star. It’s just so incredibly lovely to look at!!!

I love all of these colours. In fact, just minutes before seeing this review I actually ordered Teasey Does It, along with 3 of the glitters. I might go back for more later, though, now I’ve seen your swatches :)

  • For me just Tease-y Does it and Show Must Go On, basically. Not my favourite collection done by OPI.

  • Yep, I’m jumping on the Teasy Does It bandwagon

  • I like the Show Must Go On.

  • The Show Must Go On was a real letdown for me – have been wearing it for a few days now. The color just does nothing for me. If I go for reds, I like them to be bold like Ali’s Big Break.

Tease-y Does It is a great color, but I won’t be getting it since I already have Nubar Raspberry Truffle, which is supposedly a dupe.

I got Rising Star and The Show Must Go On! The shimmer is amazing! :D And TSMGO looks like a pink/orange duochrome for me under certain lighting.

  • The girls at ULTA seem utterly perplexed when I ask them, repeatedly, about this collection. They have no clue what I’m talking about. I’d expect them to know the trends and collections in their field! Anyway, I’m giving up on expecting them to get it and ordering Tease-y Does It today!

    • Hi MIssissippi Mama,

In my experience people in stores rarely know what’s going on with new collections. I cannot count the number of times people have had no clue at my local Benefit counter about products I am asking about. :/

Oh, wow, I must have Teasy Does It.

How are these when it comes to removing? I’ve only worn the Alice colors once because the glitters were so hard to remove.

    October 19, 2010
    • Hi Diane,

They are easier than the Alice ones for me, but they still leave tiny shimmery bits on your hands if you aren’t careful with removal.

I got a couple of these…they are just so pretty to look at, even in the bottle. Like glass glitter art. One I didn’t get is “Take The Stage.” It didn’t appeal to me when I saw other swatches, but your swatches makes me want to get this one, too! FYI, new $OPI Holiday collection was out yesterday at my local Sephora. Picked up a couple of those!

I really like this collection. There are a few that I’ve seen before. Still they are nice and shiny and pretty.

  • splattergirl

exactly my thoughts about teasey does it!
    did you use top coat?

    October 19, 2010
    • Hi splattergirl,

No I don’t use top coats in my swatches unless it says (like for matte’s I usually show them with and without a topcoat).

Kelly – is Teasy Does It anything like what La Boheme used to be? Is there anything like it??? I would love more than anything if that color came back… it was so beautiful! I keep searching for something similar…

    October 20, 2010
    • Hi Di,

I never had La Boheme so I couldn’t tell ya, sorry!

      October 20, 2010
    • SB_Sweetie

I have La Boheme. It’s much more red/berry than Teasy Does It. Not even close.

  • Paula

Do you think that OPI DS Mystery might look a little similar to Teasey Does It?

    October 20, 2010
    • Hi Paula,

I don’t have that one, sorry!

      October 20, 2010
    • Laura

No – not at all! Mystery is a dark purple/brown color with yellow/gold-ish sparkles. Teasey Does It has a more/red purple base and red/pink-ish sparkles.

Yay! I’m so happy because yesterday I picked up Teasy Does It and I hadn’t seen your swatches yet and I’m loving what I’m seeing. I almost picked up the green glitter one, but now I’m glad I didn’t after seeing your swatches. I like the look of these better than the glitter ones.
