MAC recently released a collection called Pro Longwear. These (thankfully) are not limited edition and will become part of their collection. The Pro Longwear collection includes foundation, concealer and lip cremes.

Before I reviewed these I wanted to really test them out to see how they worked for me, so here we go.

Foundation: I am always SUPER skeptical when I try a MAC foundation because I have had zero luck with many different ones over the last 20 years. Normally they wind up looking too heavy/cakey/greasy on me and I cannot stand the feel of them; I feel like I’m wearing a mask. I am SO happy to report that I completely LOVE this Pro Longwear foundation though! I have been wearing it for two weeks now almost every single day and have nearly no complaints.

The foundation comes in a pump style bottle and it seems to work fairly well. Two pumps covers my whole face. It spread out pretty nicely and evenly. The coverage is on the medium side, but you can build it up if you want for more coverage. I prefer a medium coverage look, so this one works for me. I was sent two colors for review and knew one of them was way too dark. I wasn’t too sure about the other (which was NC15) because normally I am a 20, but it actually matched my skin perfectly. It’s definitely on the more pale side, but right now I am pretty pale since I don’t really go in the sun much and never without a high SPF anyway.

The foundation feels pretty good also. There is no cakey or greasy feel and it’s not dry or tight feeling either. I do have to touch up once in the afternoon, but other than that, it doesn’t seem to budge at all until I am ready to take it off (11-12 hours later usually). I’ve applied it with both a flat foundation brush and my fingers and it works well both ways. I do prefer my fingers a little more because I feel it melts into my skin a little easier, and I’m lazy 🙂

It contains an SPF of 10, which really isn’t much so I always apply it over a higher SPF/moisturizer anyway. I am not sure WHY companies even bother adding SPF to face products unless it’s a minimum of 15, but whatever.

I think my favorite part about this foundation is that it DOES NOT settle into my fine forehead lines, HALLELUJAH! Seriously this is the bane of my existence trying to find a foundation that doesn’t settle into lines, and this seriously doesn’t at all.

Overall: I Highly recommend it, especially to those people who have always had a bad experience with MAC foundations in the past. Grade A-

Concealer: The new Pro Longwear concealer comes in a small container with a pump, just like the foundation. The pump definitely squirts out too much product, so a lot gets wasted, which is kind of a pain.

This concealer applies pretty smoothly though a little on the dry side. If you have dry skin it might not work that great on you. The coverage was only moderate for me. It didn’t fully cover dark circles, but definitely helped lessen them.

Just like the foundation, this doesn’t settle into fine lines. As much. I do have way more fine lines around my eyes than my forehead, so eventually it does settle a bit. But it doesn’t look all cakey and horrible like most other concealers I have tried.

Overall: Of all the concealers I have tried, this one of the best ones. However I still prefer to just use a brightening creme under my eyes because it never fails that concealers tend to make me look older at some point during the day. Grade B

Pro Longwear Lipcreme

L to R: Good To Go, Prolong, Perpetual Flame, Faithfully Yours

Lipcreme: These are suuuuuuuuuper creamy and feel just fabulous going on. These just might be the creamiest lip colors I have used yet. There are twelve colors in all.

They glide on really easily putting down a lot of color. Super saturated. They are really moisturizing also.

I am not in love with the tube themselves. I noticed the cap didn’t want to close as easily as their other lipstick tubes. You kind of have to really make sure it’s clicked into place.

Also I prefer a regular lipstick shape to these as I have to work a little harder (with a brush) to get them even on my lips. This is going back to my general laziness. I almost always apply lipstick straight form the tube because I have no patience for a brush. But it’s kind of necessary with these. Or you could use a lip liner also.

I have not yet worn these for a full day so I can’t really comment on their staying power, but they claim to last for hours. I can say the texture for me is great, since my lips are so dry.

Overall: These feel just fabulous and the colors are very opaque. If you find that normal MAC lipsticks dry your lips out (as 95% of them do on me) you might try these because they are extremely moisturizing. Grade A
