LUSH is offering a wide variety of fun treats for their holiday 2010 collection, some of which smell so nice you might want to consume them! But really, don’t.

Bon Bon Lip Scrub and Maple Taffy Lip Balm are two of LUSH‘s holiday offerings.

Let’s take a peek.

Bon Bon Lip Scrub is a perfect product for winter for me. I have always suffered from chapped lips, and in the winter it’s usually worse.

Bon Bon is Vegan and is infused with almond oil, which helps to soften and nourish chapped lips.

The scent is like fresh-cut lemons (minus the band-aid scent that comes with Lemony Flutter) and it’s very nice. They call it a “lemon sherbet scrub” and say that sherbet powder tends to be gentler than some other exfoliates.

I’ll admit I was a little nervous using this because this was my first experience with a lip scrub and I had visions of flesh being torn off my lips when I tried it. Silly me. It was definitely “scrubby” but also not harsh and didn’t hurt or tear anything. My lips felt smoother and softer after using it.

You only need a small amount so I can see this product lasting a really long time, which is great!

After you use Bon Bon you might want to slip on a nice soothing lip balm like Maple Taffy Lip Balm.

This balm was inspired by a Canadian tradition of rolling sticky maple syrup sap in snow and making a sweet treat from it.

Maple Taffy is made of 20% actual maple syrup, and yes, you can definitely smell and taste it! It’s really delicious. icon smile LUSH Bon Bon Lip Scrub & Maple Taffy Lip Balm for Holiday 2010 Review

Not only does it smell and perhaps taste good, but it’s packed with moisturizing goodies like Shea butter and Illipe butter, and it’s also Vegan.

The balm isn’t really a thick one, and it tends to be on the waxier side rather than creamy. I wore it the other day after using Bon Bon and it felt really nice on, not sticky or overly scented.

The only caveat I see with this is it smells so good that I might want to lick it all off, which of course defeats the whole purpose of it and dries out lips even more.

Overall:

Yum. I love holiday products that not only smell great, but also work and both of these cover the bases (Go Giants!). I like and recommend both products, but I especially love Bon Bon.

I heart Lush products :) Have you ever used their shower gel Flying Fox? If you like honey and jasmine you will LOVE it!

    October 28, 2010
    • Hi Tamika,

I haven’t yet! Is the jasmine mild? I am not a huge jasmine fan but do like honey…

Hmmmm, it’s not very strong to me. It doesn’t have a floral scent, it’s very musky and woodsy.

      October 28, 2010
      • Yeah see musky is not my favorite thing. I prefer floral or stuff like sweet almond oil/honey and crisp scents.

Also, just wanted to add that I cannot wait for their annual after Christmas sale, both the N.A. and UK store :)

These look yummy! I love LUSH. This may be a weird question, but how does one know if one needs lip scrub? I’ve never even heard of it. My lips get dry, but I’m thinking scrubbing them would only make it worse. Advice…

    October 28, 2010
    • Hi SB_Sweetie,

Well if your lips feel flaky a scrub can help remove the flakes and make the lips more smooth. I wouldn’t advise using it though if your lips are severely chapped and raw or anything. It’s kind of like your skin, when you see flaky skin on your legs a sugar scrub can help remove them and make your legs less itchy and scaly.

  • I may have to get Bon Bon. My lips have been especially dry lately. Freaking awkward weather.

I know it’s been odd weather. Supposed to be warmer and sunny next week I think.

thank you for your review! The maple taffy lipbalm sounds yummy, but I’m Canadian and I have never made the sticky treat myself! haha. Must be further north than me:)

I’m way out in Alberta, and I had it every year at our Winter Maple Sugar Festival in elementary! :) You should try it sometime….soooo delicious!!

I’ve been a LUSH fan for 5 years now, I will be getting my LUSH shopping done after 12/26 though. BTW, if you like honey-sweet you should try Honey I Washed the Kids. The new soap formula doesn’t lather very well but the smell is to die for :)

  • I have a bubblegum lip scrub from Lush. My 3 year old daughter loves it, but she licks it all off. haha. I usually rinse it off.
