Illamasqua The Art of Darkness Nail Varnish Collection Fall 2010

The Art of Darkness Collection by Illamasqua for Fall 2010 includes two incredible new shades of nail varnish called Scarab and Viridian.
From the press release:
“Deep in an enchanted forest, the scene is set for a sumptuous feast. The chosen have arrived. Lured by the promise of immortality, a host of fantastical beings try their hand at creating the ever-elusive Elixir of Life. Where this night will end, no one knows…”
The Art of Darkness Collection which includes jewel-toned colors for nails, lips, eyes and body is supposed to be a “mythical array of lavish tones” that are both intense and opulent.

Loving the scarab beetle on some of the packaging, so pretty!

Viridian

Scarab

Viridian
Viridian is a dark metallic green with blue and green shimmer. Jewel-toned is most definitely what I think of when I see this color. It’s so perfect for fall and I love how it’s darker around the edges than the center. Beautiful! In case you were wondering this is definitely not a dupe for MAC Jade Dragon. This is a different, more emerald green, lighter and with different colored shimmer. This was two coats.

Scarab
Scarab is a dark metallic red with red and pink shimmer. Wow, this baby glows like it’s on fire! I absolutely love it, it’s beautiful. Like Viridian, this one also has that glow in the center with darker edges. This was two coats.
Overall:
I think these are both really spectacular colors and must-haves for fall. Illamasqua’s varnish formula is spot-on, these are just buttery, smooth and opaque with nary a streak in sight. The only downside (for those not living in the UK) is that you have to get these from their website, which means shipping from the UK. Sephora does carry Illamasuqa, but not this collection. At least not yet!

What do you think about these?

Welcome! My name is Kelly and Vampy Varnish is a animal friendly beauty blog.

I live in the UK, but nowhere near me stocks Illamasqua – in fact I first heard about it on youtube from people who live outside of the UK, and assumed it must be a foreign brand
I’m the same! I just hope that asos.com gets this collection, as they have free UK postage (very important if you’re skint like me, and only buy one or two things at a time).
I love these! i wish they ship it to Malaysia:-(

Scarab looks gorgeous! How does it compare to Zoya Cheryl?
Hi Courtney,
Cheryl is actually brown with copper, it’s not really red. http://www.vampyvarnish.com/2010/07/01/zoya-wicked-collection-fall-2010-swatches-review/
Scarab looks kind of like a cross between China Glaze’s “Foxy” and “Riveter Rouge.” It’s also reminding me of the beloved OPI “La Boheme” (now discontinued).
These are quite beautiful! I agree they have that “lit from within” look. Love it!
Pretty colours, thanks for the swatches and review !
Hm, Scarab is a bit brush-stroke-y and Viridian isn’t IMO worth £13. They are silly prices.

Both Viridian and Scarab are so pretty!
I’m currently wearing something like Scarab but Scarab is more glittery

The green is pretty, but I’m kind of a hands-on shopper.
Hi Naomi,
I have heard just a few minutes ago someone saw them at Sephora, so you might want to check your local store!
WOW. These are so glowy! How do you think Viridian compares to other shimmery greens? Oh and that packaging is TDF!
Also, I hope these become available in Sephora eventually!

Lately my polish has been coming off my entire nail at one time, usually without me even realizing it. Do you have any ideas on why that might be?
I’m going to London this week!!! Maybe Scarab come with me to Spain!!

Beautiful nail shades – - – but, I really love your cat!!
I love those. I really need to stop reading blogs; my lemming list is a mile long, haha!
They’re nice. Hopefully Sephora will get them!
Arrianne´s last post…Award that I forgot the name of
Hi Arrianne,
Someone on Twitter told me she saw these in her Sephora today! So maybe they just aren’t online yet…
I love both of these but my Sephora(s) doesn’t carry any products from Illamasqua – so sad.
i want both so beautiful
i could stare at them for hours
Wow, I’m not a fan of greens but I love Viridian.
The Viridian is pretty, but for $17 plus shipping from the UK?! Ouch!
I never really felt the need to go above the $10 mark for polish (yes, I know it’ll last forever, but if I don’t wear it often enough it’s just not worth it regardless of price) and while I may make an exception for Zulu, I don’t this is quite pretty enough to make me take the plunge.
I love these! It is interesting that Sephora will not deliver these to Canada, so I guess I will have to order from the UK.
OMG, I just love your swatches. I wasn’t all that interested in Scarab, but now…
These look absolutely awesome on you!
