Illamasqua The Art of Darkness Collection Fall 2010
Illamasqua’s The Art of Darkness Collection for fall 2010 includes a variety of new items for nails, eyes, body and lips.
I already showed you the nails earlier today, and here are a couple more items.
Abyss is a Precision Ink (liquid liner) in deep black. Hermetic is an Intense Lipgloss in deep red.

Illamasqua bills this liner as fast-drying and waterproof and they are not kidding!
First off I have to comment on the applicator. It comes with a fine-tipped sponge-like applicator wand that screws off from the main liquid-filled pot. The wand is really nice, perfect width and length for my hands, and nice and pliable. I always have issues with the harder, rigid type applicators.
The color really is super jet black. When I tried removing it from my hand after swatching it took a TON of scrubbing to get it off. Now that was just with a dampened paper towel; I wasn’t using soap. It removes just fine (without tugging) with warm water and makeup remover.
The one negative I experienced was if you go over one area too many times (maybe trying to get it even) it can get a little flakey looking. I had that happen to me this morning.
Hermetic
Hermetic is a really dark pearly red lipgloss. I absolutely loved this color in the tube and on my hand, but it didn’t for for me at all on the lips, unfortunately. That’s not to blame the color though, it just doesn’t work for my skin tone. I think it’s too dark. It would work for a really dramatic night look, but I never, ever go out at night anymore, so I would probably never wear it.
Their Intense Lipglosses are really opaque and creamy going on. This has a really nice high shine finish. The one recommendation I would make (based on my using other colors of their Intense Lipgloss) is to use a very small amount. I had issues with the color bleeding once because I think I applied too much.

Overall:
These are both really nice products and I recommend them. I think Abyss is the most universal since it’s basically a waterproof black liner, and we could all use one of those! Hermetic is a gorgeous color, but I don’t think everyone can pull it off.

I’m another paleface who Hermetic would probably not suit (dark hair but pale skin, and I never get to go out in the evenings either). Shame, because I absolutely love the colour.

Yep it’s very similar to the MAC ones. I know how you feel I love that color on my hand I couldn’t believe it looked so wrong on my face
I was going to say the same thing about the liners…a dupe for the new ones from MAC!
Wow, that color is gorgeous and something I would totally pick up. But if it’s that tough on your fair skin it’ll be difficult on mine. Hmmm.

I would love that gloss! I sometimes like darker lips on me, even for day…I have pale skin (NC20), dark brown eyes and dark auburn hair, so it may suit me. I think it would be hard to pull it off if you are fair-haired and pale-skinned, unless it is an evening event. Just my two cents

Holy smokes! Hermetic is such a hot colour – perfect for fall and winter.
Love the lipgloss! That color is hot now if I could just part with the $$ it cost to buy it I just might lol

I am completely smitten with the lipgloss… It sort of reminds me of MAC’s Cranberry eyeshadow. Oohh how I wish I could get my hands on that baby!
