Barielle Holiday Hustle Winter 2010 Collection Swatches & Review

Morning!

Barielle’s new winter collection called Holiday Hustle features six new shades that will have you set for the season.

Don’t expect the basic glittery red, gold, silver and green though, there are some really unique colors and finishes here!

The formula was pretty good on these. A couple of the more metallic ones were the tiniest bit streaky, but nothing bad. They were for the most part three coats.

Barielle Snow Day Barielle Holiday Hustle Winter 2010 Collection Swatches & Review
Snow Day

Snow Day is a pale blue/silver metallic with blue and green shimmer. This is a really nice color and I love that it really does remind me of blue ice. Not that we get much ice on California, but you know what I mean. icon smile Barielle Holiday Hustle Winter 2010 Collection Swatches & Review This was two coats.

Barielle Jess Champagne Toast Barielle Holiday Hustle Winter 2010 Collection Swatches & Review
Jess’ Champagne Toast

Jess’ Champagne Toast is a lavender purple with pink, blue and green micro-glitter. This is really unique, especially for a winter collection. I loved the color, but the glitter particles seemed to sink into the polish a little leaving it kind of of “meh” once you apply it. I still like it, but think it could have been executed differently to let the glitter stay on top and shine more. This was two coats.

Barielle Wrap Me In Ribbon Barielle Holiday Hustle Winter 2010 Collection Swatches & Review
Wrap Me In Ribbon

Wrap Me In Ribbon is a mauve/pink metallic with multi-colored shimmer. I wound up liking this more than I thought I would from the bottle. It’s a really flattering color and pretty unique for winter. This was two coats.

Barielle Gelt Me To The Party Barielle Holiday Hustle Winter 2010 Collection Swatches & Review
Gelt Me To The Party

Gelt Me To The Party is a deep gold with pink and green shimmer. This isn’t just your average gold, this has some olive green to it and of course I LOVE IT! I was pretty sure it was going to look awful on me when I first saw it, but it looks amazing! The color is so saturated and deep and the application was pretty perfect. This was two coats.

Barielle Coalest Day Of The Year Barielle Holiday Hustle Winter 2010 Collection Swatches & Review
Coalest Day Of The Year

Coalest Day Of The Year is a dark charcoal grey with silver, pink and green shimmer. I always love a good charcoal grey and this is no exception. It might not be ground-breaking in terms of color, but it’s gorgeous anyway, and covered very nicely. This was two coats.

Barielle Elles Spell Barielle Holiday Hustle Winter 2010 Collection Swatches & Review
Elle’s Spell

Elle’s Spell is a red jelly base with tons of holographic flake glitter. When I saw this in the bottle it looked soooo amazing. But sadly after I applied it I realized the red is really sheer so it didn’t come out as nice as I had hoped. The flake glitter is fabulous though, I love it and it’s not all that common yet. This was three coats, but pretty sheer still.

Overall:

I think this is a really fabulous collection as a whole. It does feature some classic winter colors, but also some more interesting ones, and some great finishes. I think the must haves are: Jess’ Champagne Toast, Gelt Me To The Party and Coalest Day Of The Year. I’m not sure yet of the exact release date yet but I expect it to be pretty soon.

  • The only color that’s coming out to me is Elle’s Spell. The others don’t appeal to me – I’m not a big fan of frosts. :(

    • Hi Belle,

I’m not usually either but the newer frosts I have seen this year are more appealing to me somehow. As long as it’s not a baby pink frost :)

i LOVE gelt me to the party! It’s such a perfect holiday party color. There’s something about gold nail polishes that i absolutely adore ;) And is it me, or does the coalest day of the year color look exactly like lucerne-tainly look marvelous from OPI swiss (which I bought but haven’t used yet)?

Jess’ champagne toast is real pretty! Question though: how close is coolest day of the year to something like China Glaze’s Black Diamond, do you know?

    September 13, 2010
    • Hi carrie,

I don’t have a swatch of Black Diamond though I do own it. I think they are pretty similar but can’t be positive yet.

Love Gelt Me to the Party. I’m not going out of my way to buy these. If I get many more I want then I’ll order Gelt. They are pretty shades. Not at all the typical “holiday” shades.
