Sephora by OPI Midnight Mambo and Only Gold For Me Swatches
Recently some people had asked me if I had reviewed Sephora by OPI Midnight Mambo or Only Gold For Me. I hadn’t but when I was purchasing some fun goods from Sephora, I decided to pick ‘em up and see if they were any good.
Midnight Mambo is from the limited edition Havana Nights collection (I reviewed most of it here) and Only Gold For Me is a top coat with pizazz.
Midnight Mambo
Midnight Mambo is a light, bright blue with silver and holographic chunky glitter. The silver glitter is small, round and very fine and the holographic glitter is hexagonal and larger. I dunno, I kinda like it. I wasn’t all that excited for it in the bottle, but when it’s on I think it’s pretty cool. It does dry a little gritty, but a top coat would help with that. It was pretty opaque, I only needed two coats and I had no formula or application issues.
Only Gold For Me
Only Gold For Me is a clear base with gold glitter. There is small round gold glitter, and then large chunky hexagonal glitter. On it’s own it’s cool, but not that great. It’s billed as a top coat though, so we all know where this is going…This was two coats. As with most chunky glitters you need a little patience here. You have to let the first coat dry a little bit otherwise you risk pushing the large chunks out of place.
Only Gold For Me over black
Ahhh yes this is how it’s meant to be. Over some dark color. Here I just used some random black, but I think it would look really cool over maybe an olive or army green creme also.

I love the Only Gold for Me top coat. It looks so pretty on it’s own, my bosses don’t even raise their eyebrows at it when I just wear that, and it looks great on many other colors too. Didn’t like their silver top coat, the silver glitter is just a little too stringy for my liking.

How funny, I’m wearing Midnight Mambo right now! I’m loving it. I just got it with my last Sephora order yesterday….even though it’s been a week since my actual b-day, I’m referring to it as my birthday polish, haha.

I have Midnight Mambo and love it! It is a really flattering blue. It makes me happy. Strangely, even though I haven’t been a fan of the Lippmann glitters, the gold topcoat is appealing to me…it does look so cool over the black. Was that one coat or two (over the black)? Thanks for the swatches!

I think this glitter is smaller and a little less chunky looking in general. It was one coat over the black.
I like Midnight Mambo…its an interesting looking glitter. How was removal? I’m normally anti glitter but this one looks kind of cute.

It was standard glitter removal. Not that bad though at all.
“Only gold for me” is really very similar to Maybelline’s “Pot of gold”. And it seems to me like pot of gold has a nicer shade of gold (not so yellow) and a nicer pricetag too. I like to layer it over a deep metallic purple or midnight blue. Beautiful.

I wish I liked blues more. I have one blue and its an almost black blue. They just dont look right on me. But it is a pretty color in general/for someone who loves blues. I like Only Gold For Me because its noticeable glitter but not over the top. Lucky for me I feel ‘eh’ about them.

I had a girl at Sephora tell me to put “only Gold for me” over top of a med blue creme (like the Audrey one from CG) It looks AMAZING!!! try it out. I did not think i would like it, but it looks soooo Tiffany.
