OCC Lip Tar Swatches & Review

OCC Lip Tar1 OCC Lip Tar Swatches & Review

While the name might not be politically correct (or one I think is “cute”) the products by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics are pretty darn cool. Oh and also they are Vegan & cruelty-free, yay!

As you may or may not know, OCC has this really cool lip stuff called Lip Tar. It’s kind of a mix between a lipstick and a lip gloss. You get the opacity and vivid colors of a lipstick, while still getting the ease of application and glossiness as you would with a lip gloss. I reviewed their gorgeous red Lip Tar called NSFW and their black one called Tarred in the past here. I have also reviewed their very nice nail polishes as well. Note: I saw a Tweet from them that they are coming out with new nails colors soon, I can’t wait to see what they have in store!

I decided to try some more of the Lip Tar’s since they now have a few more wearable colors. They have about 26 colors in total now. The great thing about these is that you can mix them to create pretty much any color under the sun. But I am lazy, so I prefer to wear them straight out of the tube.

Speaking of the tube, these come in an 8ML tube with an angled tip to squeeze the product out of. You only need the SMALLEST amount of the product to get serious coverage. I’m not kidding, a tiny amount. I find that using a lip brush is much easier than applying straight out of the tube.

Most of the ones I tried recently were really smooth and evened out really nicely. Two of them were on the “chalkier” side and I had some issues with, which I’ll discuss below.

Sally Hansen HD Hi-Definition Nail Color Swatches & Review

First things first: I am trying to not purchase or write about companies that test on animals anymore. This is something I have mentioned on Twitter a few times, but many of you might not be aware of it. Sally Hansen is one of those companies that is widely believed to test on animals. However these were bought and swatched before I made this decision so I thought I would show them anyway. I am planning a whole article about this subject soon, so stay tuned!

Waaaaaay back in spring (doesn’t that seem so far away now?) Sally Hansen came out with a new line from their HD Hi-Definition collection. I saw them in stores and decided to pick up a few.

The formula was nice, but too thin in my opinion. I wound up being disappointed that some of them weren’t more opaque. I used three coats for all but one, and some could have even used four (or more!)

I was also a little sad that these looked so amazing and duo-chrome-y in the bottles, but they didn’t translate as nicely onto the nail.

Byte

Byte is a bright fuchsia pink with purple/blue shimmer. Gorgeous pink, I really like this one. This was one of the slightly more opaque ones, but I still needed three coats to get even coverage.

MAC Dare To Wear Eyeshadow in Zingy & Louder, Please Swatches & Review + Giveaway!

MAC Dare To Wear Eyeshadow1 MAC Dare To Wear Eyeshadow in Zingy & Louder, Please Swatches & Review + Giveaway!

The MAC Dare To Wear collection features twelve eyeshadows screaming with vivid color. I already swatched a bunch of these for you here, but I have two more for you today.

Louder, Please is a bright matte fuchsia and Zingy is a bright matte sky blue.

For me matte eyeshadows can be the hardest ones to work with. I don’t consider myself at all skilled in the art of eyeshadow application, and they are kind of notorious for not blending as easily as shimmers or other textures. These I found to be a little easier to work with than some other mattes I have tried in the past. Maybe it’s because they are more finely milled or maybe it’s because I use them over Too Faced Shadow Insurance, which helps. Whatever it is I am glad there are bright mattes than I can actually use now rather than just stare at in their pretty little packages!

Both of these are really nice and pigmented. They don’t “skip” or get patchy when applying like a lot of mattes sometimes can.

Oh and you might want to read the whole post because there is something fun at the bottom. icon smile MAC Dare To Wear Eyeshadow in Zingy & Louder, Please Swatches & Review + Giveaway!
