Orly ‘Tis The Season Holiday 2010 Collection Swatches & Review
Holiday 2010? What?? It does seem a little early to be talking about this in mid-August, but what the hell. It’s not like we haven’t been having winter temperatures in the Bay Area anyway 
Orly’s new collection for holiday is called ‘Tis The Season and it’s made up of six new colors from shimmers to cremes.
The formula on these is really great. I didn’t have any issues with any of them at all, yay! A word about shimmer (glitter) removal. It’s a PITA! It’s not hard to get off the nail or anything, but the tiny shimmer particles get allllll over your fingers, so be prepared for some clean up!
Winter Wonderland
Winter Wonderland is a pale silver/white with iridescent glitter. Reminds me of snowflakes! It’s not all that unique I must say, though it is pretty. It’s on the sheer side so even after three coats you can see the VNL. I think it would make a better top coat.
Glitz & Glamour
Glitz & Glamour is a deep gold shimmer. This is really cool, but not the gold for me. It’s got too much yellow in it and clashes with my skin tone. It is nicely pigmented though and I only needed two coats.
Rockin’ Rocket
Rockin’ Rocket is a kind of burgundy color with lots of gold shimmer. This is just gorgeous and wound up being my favorite one. It’s very unusual and extremely flattering and pretty, especially in the sun. This was two coats.
Meet Me Under The Mistletoe
Meet Me Under The Mistletoe is an emerald green with blue/green shimmer. There is a TON of shimmer in this baby, but the blue isn’t that obvious. Either way it’s a very pretty color, reminds me of the sea rather than Christmas though. But that’s fine with me! This was two coats.
Candy Cane Lane
Candy Cane Lane is a bright, shiny candy-apple red creme. Super pretty on my skin, but not that unique for me. This was two coats.
Naughty Or Nice
Naughty Or Nice is a deep, dark purple jelly. This is dark folks, I didn’t even know it was purple and not black until I opened it. It’s absolutely gorgeous though. I do have other colors similar but none have covered in just two coats like this one!
Overall:
I think this is a good, if not totally unique collection. There are some colors in here I think are very nice to have and they are: Rockin’ Rocket and Meet Me Under The Mistletoe. Naughty Or Nice is a beautiful color if you don’t mind a blackened looking color, and Glitz & Glamour is great if you’ve got the skin tone for it. I think most people probably have something like Winter Wonderland and Candy Cane Lane by now, but if not, they too are pretty.

I’m wearing Misa Toxic Seduction right now…they do look similar but the Orly looks to be lighter and has more blue in it. It also looks more glittery. I think they are different enough to own both. It would still be cool to see them side by side though.

I am so happy you posted swatches of these…now I can finally buy what I want! Definitely gonna get Rockin’ Rocket, Meet Me Under The Mistletoe, and probably Glitz&Glamour (though I’m iffy about this on my coloring…but I’m thinking it could make a good base for Konad!

Yeah Glitz & Glamour is one of those colors that’s hard to pull off for a lot of people. I always love how rich these golds look, but can hardly ever actually wear them!
OMG i looove these!! I originally wanted Winter Wonderland and now I think I’ll pass since it’s so sheer but I still want Meet Me Under The Mistletoe the most. I didn;t expect to like Rockin Rocket at all but after seeing your picture, I’ve changed my mind and I might need to have it! Thanks so much Kelly!! <3

I didn’t expect Rockin’ Rocket to be all that great either, it didn’t “call” to me in the bottle, but once it was on, it turned out to be my favorite one.

There is only one polish from this collection that I love and I already have: glitz and glamour. I am veeery pale and such colors look gorgeous on me. This polish is quite close to opi thrills in beverly hils (orly is denser) and Sally hansen saturday night fever (sh is smoother)

I’m liking Rockin’ Rocket, but the green reminds me a bit of China Glaze’s Watermelon Rind? I also really like Winter Wonderland for some reason…I would love to try it layered over a good metallic silver.

First of all, I love ur blog. Second of all, do u think that Meet me under the mistletoe is similar to CG Emerald Sparkle?
Loooove Rockin Rocket, bummed that I just received an order from TransDesign on Friday (needed Orly Galaxy Girl) and cant justify another order for one bottle! I’m guessing these will be in stores in the next few months, though?
What is your reccomendation for a good black polish? I’ve never owned black (but lots of darks) and I’m thinking maybe Naughty or Nice might fit the bill, unless there is a good black. I was considering China Glaze Liquid Leather.

Black is pretty much black with a few crappy exceptions
Some good black cremes are Essie Licorice, China Glaze Liquid Leather, CND Blackjack, OPI Black Onyx. Naughty Or Nice is purple, not black, though it is really dark.
Thats what I figured, but I really wanted to avoid a watery formula, a streaky finish, or a dull finish. I like that Naughty or Nice looks black without being black and that its a good 2 coater. But Liquid Leather has been on my list so maybe I’ll give it a shot.
