OPI Go Goth Nail Collection for Halloween 2010 Swatches & Review
OPI wants us to Go Goth this Halloween with their mini-set of four dark, vampy nail lacquers.
Halloween is my favorite holiday of the year so I am always happy to check out what cute collections are out.
Mini bottles aren’t my favorite because they are hard to work with. What do I have hamster hands? 
But I do love all these colors even though they all have dupes or close-to-dupes for them.
The formula was decent, no issues really. They all managed to cover nicely in two coats.
Sanguine
Sanguine is a dark blood red with red shimmer. This is most definitely a lit-from-within color and I really adore it. These are my favorite kinds of reds! I love how the center glows and the edges seem dark. Especially in the pic below.

Unripened
Unripened is a black base with tons of blue and green shimmer. In the bottle it looks like it’s got purple and pink, but it doesn’t really translate to the nail. It’s really gorgeous, but I know I have a few very close to the same color (China Glaze Blk-Bila-Bong is similar).

Nevermore
Nevermore is a royal purple with purple and blue shimmer. Again super pretty color, but I know I have others like it.

Obscurity
Obscurity is a black matte polish. This isn’t a chalky matte, it’s more of a satin matte which I prefer actually. It really could be a one-coater but I used two anyway.

Overall:
I think this is a really cute set for Halloween, though you might already have colors like them. It’s fairly inexpensive (and comes with a free lace cuff bracelet, haha) so it might be worth picking up!

I had this set on my TD order a couple of weeks ago, but it was missing from my shipment. The invoice said it was out of stock even though it was in stock when I ordered. I wasn’t charged for it so I didn’t sweat it- figured I didn’t need it anyway. BUT….after seeing your swatches, I just called TD and they are sending it out to me today! For $7.70 it doesn’t bother me that there are some dupes- I’m loving Unripened and Obscurity!
Wow can’t beat the price! These swatches are beautiful, but I think I prefer China Glaze’s Halloween collection. Too bad since this is more affordable.

Loooooooove sanguine. And thats one type of red I dont have and need, er, want. I just dont want the four pack because I really have no interest in the other 3. But then again for $7.70 its not too bad. Decisions decisions…

I know it’s been done a dozen times before, but I just like the look of the flat black Obscurity. Especially with your rings, it seems glam or… like you’re a girly bamf. =}
i actually don’t care for this set all that much. and halloween is my favorite holiday too, so it’s kind of disappointing when the collections don’t blow me away. i adore the China Glaze set for the year tho so it’s not a total loss

I like Sanguine too! Love the light from within kind of colour! Just makes my skin appear fairer. I think Unripened looks kind of cool too! Do Halloween colors always have a lot of sparkles??

Frequently they are glittery, but you do see orange and black creme a lot also.
I know they made “Unripened” in a big bottle, but in my opinion they should have made “Sanguine” the “big bottle” color instead of unripened.
I think for Halloween sets I’ll grab he China Glaze instead, Thanks for posting!

These are great swatches! I love Sanguine! It’s so rich and Vampy! And I am so ready for Fall/Halloween! I want cooler weather – this heat in the South is killing me this summer!
I really don’t like OPI’s mini sets. I hate that small brush. I finish it a real pain to use. I’d buy Sanguine in a large size. I believe I’ll skip these. I know I’m definitely buying the China Glaze set.
I’m with you! The mini-bottles are a pain. The CG set looks more unique, too.

Oh, I’ve been waiting on buying this until you reviewed it! I’m pumped for Halloween!!! Just watched Star Wars with the kids for their first time, so you can guess what we’re all dressing up as.
I’m loving Sanguine! It will go great with my Princess Leia slave costume! My boyfriend is going as Jabba, which I can’t stop laughing about! I was thinking of using Obscurity for my little Darth Vader, and we’ll see which one I can convince the Jedi Luke to wear…
Unripened looks a lot like Sinful What’s Your Name. Black jelly with teal shimmer. I need to get Unripened so that I can do a comparison.

). I really like all of these, but I feel like I have dupes, so I’ll probably pass on the mini-bottles. Too bad they’re not releasing that red on its own! Thanks for swatching.
Sanguine looks like it might be a dupe for Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro in Lava Red, and Obscurity looks like it might be similar to Manglaze The Death Tar. I wonder if Obscurity would have the same sparkles as The Death Tar if you put a shiny TC over it?
As for the big bottles of Unripened, I heard they are a promo that the resellers are given when they order a bunch of the mini sets – TD was selling them seperately for about 3 days until they ran out. I’m thinking it’s like the big bottles of Glow-Ink in the Dark that places were selling last year.
I would buy all of them except the matte black if they were full-sized bottles. I just don’t like the minis. I’ll pick up on Unripened because it’s full-size, but otherwise I’m going with the amazing China Glaze Halloween collection. (Just ordered it the other day and can’t wait to get it!)
I was going to order the mini set and a full-size bottle of Unripened (back when they were still offering it) from Trans Design a few weeks ago, but decided to wait for swatches.
All these colours are beautiful, and I would probably wear them all, but I think I have dupes for most of them. Otherwise, I’d be all over this.
I agree with you that using the mini bottles isn’t my favourite, I like the way they look – they’re so cute! Sucker for packaging much? Hehe…totally!
Do you or does anyone here know how close OPI Sanguine is to OPI Royal Rajah Ruby or China Glaze Branding Iron? I don’t have many deep reds that are lit-from-within to compare it to.

OK, so small bottles (and brushes), and mostly colours I have similar ones to already, but that would be because they are all my favourite colours!!! I already seem to have a tab open for TransDesign on my browser before reading this… I guess I will be buying this set then!
I wish I’d seen this before I ordered yesterday. I don’t want. I have all these in dupes already, except for the matte black which I hate. Yuck

I’m very excited about unripened! I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Go Goth kit (and the rest of my order) Transdesign was sold out
I love mini nail polishes, they can be a bit fiddly but they take up less room (not ready for a Helmer yet!) and I feel less guilty about owning multiples of almost identical shades!
