NARS Vintage Nail Polish Collection Swatches & Review

NARS Cosmetics has re-released some of their older nail colors in the Vintage Nail Collection for a limited time only.

These are all colors new to me so I thought maybe some of you would want to see them as well.

The collection as a whole doesn’t make me fall over with excitement, to be honest, but there are some nice colors in there. I guess when you have as much nail polish as I do after awhile, you expect BIG things. icon smile NARS Vintage Nail Polish Collection Swatches & Review

The formula is definitely pretty great on these. There was only one I had any issues with. All were quite wonderful, as you would expect from NARS.

NARS Blue Lagoon NARS Vintage Nail Polish Collection Swatches & Review
Blue Lagoon

Blue Lagoon is a frosty pale blue shimmer. Though NARS calls this an iridescent color, I didn’t really see that on the nail. This is a really pretty color, but a little on the sheer side. This was three coats and you can see the visible nail line.

NARS Cha Cha Cha NARS Vintage Nail Polish Collection Swatches & Review
Cha Cha Cha

Cha Cha Cha is a pale frosty tangerine shimmer. This too is a little on the sheer side and it wasn’t really my kind of color. This was three coats.

NARS Tallulah NARS Vintage Nail Polish Collection Swatches & Review
Tallulah

Tallulah is a medium purple creme. This is the one I had issues with. As you can see it’s pretty patchy and uneven on. This was only two coats, so maybe after three it would have evened out. I like the colors, but probably have a bunch like it already.

NARS Hunger NARS Vintage Nail Polish Collection Swatches & Review
Hunger

Hunger is a bright tomato red creme. This is very pretty and flattering, which kind of surprised me since I’m not much of an orange gal. This was two coats.

NARS Zizi NARS Vintage Nail Polish Collection Swatches & Review
Zizi

Zizi is a sheer base with gold and orange glitter. I’m sure this is meant to be a layering color, otherwise it’s too sheer. I think this would probably look cool over Hunger actually. This was two coats.

Overall:

I think this is a decent collection with a couple pretty colors, but nothing that is all that unique. The formula was really nice though (except Tallulah) and if you don’t have any of these colors, I do think you might like them.

Oh man…I got a bottle of NARS Blue Lagoon as a birthday present from my mom when I was, I dunno, 15? 16? Just seeing a picture of it takes me back! Come to think of it, I probably still have that bottle somewhere…

  • I’m not really feeling a lot of these colors, but Zizi looks like a good layering polish. For some reason, shades like Blue Lagoon really reminds me of the 90s; it just has that vibe. I think Avon also has something like it, and also called Lagoon. Overall though, these are nice ish colors, but I wouldn’t pay the NARS price for them.

  • Hmmm..Tallulah is the only color I actually like – of course its the one with the most issues!

Ping – yes! Avon has a color like this called Blue Lagoon. I was just looking at a catalog and saw this color. Blues just arent for me, though.

Transdesign.com has the Orly Cosmic FX colors available (or at least they did yesterday when I ordered). I picked up Galaxy Girl and finally ordered my China Glaze VV colors.

Thank goodness these colors arent a must have…my husband will be sure to roll his eyes when UPS arrives tomorrow…

  • Tallulah for me. Definitely a 3-coater. Had similar problems today with Zoya Casey. But none of them is super-special at all.

  • I think Blu Lagoon is the only one i really want. They are pretty colors but for the Nars price it’s got to be unique!

I’ll skip these. Nothing I don’t already have a shade like. Hunger does look fantastic on you.

Not really feeling these, but they do look beautiful on your nails!

  • I like Tallulah (mainly for the name!) but those types of polish can be such a pain to apply and remove. Blue Lagoon is really pretty!

OMG I just met a little girl earlier this summer whose name is Tallulah, though I’m not really sure if it’s the same spelling

These are okay, but no lemmings for me. Now if they re-released Platoon and Mash, I’d be all over those, knocking down people to get to the Nars counter at Holt’s! :D
