Jessica Cosmetics Muse Collection Fall 2010 Swatches & Review

Jessica Cosmetics have a fabulous new collection out for Fall 2010 called Muse. Muse is all about rich tones that reflect the sophistication of fall fashion lines.

The colors in the Muse collection include:

  • Majesty Blue – Royal Blue
  • Crimson Reflections – Burgundy Wine
  • Intrigue – A Haze Of Purple
  • Scarlet – Daring Red
  • Victorian Crush – Army Green
  • Bittersweet – Chocolate Brown

I know I have mentioned this before when I have reviewed Jessica nail colors, but it bears repeating. Their formula is awesome! They really have their stuff down. The colors practically apply themselves. They have such a good, even flow and all but one were two coats.

Jessica Intrigue Jessica Cosmetics Muse Collection Fall 2010 Swatches & Review
Intrigue

Intrigue is a smoked out taupe-y lavender creme. This is totally gorgeous! As you know we have had a lot of taupes lately, but there aren’t too many that have this smokey purple thing. This is sort of similar to Metro Chic by Sephora by OPI, but it’s definitely not a dupe. This was the only one on the more sheer side and I needed three coats. As far as I’m concerned a girl can’t have too many taupes!

Jessica Victorian Crush Jessica Cosmetics Muse Collection Fall 2010 Swatches & Review
Victorian Crush

Victorian Crush is a vivid army green. I am so excited about this color I cannot even tell you. The second I applied it, it was love. This is very different from other army green cremes of the past. It’s much lighter and less brown than RBL No More War, for instance. Less olive more army icon smile Jessica Cosmetics Muse Collection Fall 2010 Swatches & Review I absolutely adore it and am REALLY pleased we have a new army green! This was two coats.

Jessica Bittersweet Jessica Cosmetics Muse Collection Fall 2010 Swatches & Review
Bittersweet

Bittersweet is a milk chocolate brown with gold shimmer. I had no clue this even had shimmer until I went outside; it’s very subtle. But holy cow, I love it too! I mean I LOVE THIS COLOR. Sorry, but really I think it’s one of my favs ever now. I don’t know what it is, maybe the hint of green I see, the wonderful chocolate-y goodness, the uniqueness. Whatever it is it’s my favorite of this collection, and I own nothing like it. This was two coats.

Jessica Majesty Blue Jessica Cosmetics Muse Collection Fall 2010 Swatches & Review
Majesty Blue

Majesty Blue is a deep royal blue metallic with light blue shimmer. It’s definitely got a lot of purple in it also. This is a really pretty color, reminds me of the midnight sky with stars for some reason. I think it’s very pretty, if not totally unique. This was two coats.

Jessica Scarlet Jessica Cosmetics Muse Collection Fall 2010 Swatches & Review
Scarlet

Scarlet is a bright scarlet red creme that leans towards the cool side. This is VERY bright and really pretty. It doesn’t really say “fall” to me, more summer, but it’s still nice. I do feel I have a lot of these kinds of reds already though. This was two coats.

Jessica Crimson Reflections Jessica Cosmetics Muse Collection Fall 2010 Swatches & Review
Crimson Reflections

Crimson Reflections is a burgundy red creme. Again this is pretty, but I have seen it before many times. This was two coats.

Collection Rating: A-

Overall I am really impressed with most of this collection. I think the Intrigue, Victorian Crush and Bittersweet are totally outstanding colors and must haves. Majesty Blue is really nice and a must have if you don’t own anything similar. Scarlet and Crimson Reflections seem a little out of place for me here. I wish they had included two more really off the wall and unique colors rather than reds, but they are still pretty.

I am not sure of the exact date of the release of this collection, but believe it will be August.

So guys I wanna know, what do you think of these?

Same here. The reds are meh, because they’re just more reds. The blue seems totally out of place with the collection… too shimmery & too clear a blue. I wish they had put a couple more colors in like Bittersweet though. Cremes that have a hidden shimmer. I’m becoming a really big fan of those.

    Hi :)

Oh my, Victorian Crush is just gorgeous! I wonder how it compares to Illamasqua’s Hectic, though… Anybody knows?

    August 3, 2010
    • Hi Nan,

It’s close but I think this is slightly brighter and lighter. Here is my swatch of Hectic: http://www.vampyvarnish.com/2009/03/16/illamasqua-nail-polish/

Wanted to know this, too. :-) I guess they’re close enough that I won’t pine forever if I don’t ever manage to get Hectic. LOL! Thanks, VV! :)

  • Must have Victorian Crush!! Olives and army greens are my favorites. =] Thanks for the swatches! I haven’t found a need to try Jessica before now.

    • Hi Naomi,

Yeah it’s amazing, you will love it if you love army greens :)

  • I don’t see anything new here. All the colors are kind of “meh” for me. I need to look at Jessica polish though, the raves about the formula intrigue me. :)

Bittersweet and Victorian Crush are unbelievable! I am so excited to get them. Intrigue is great, but I think I have something very similar. Thanks for sharing these – this will be a new brand for me.

Hey, love your blog! Victorian Crush is amazing! I recently ordered Zoya Shawn yesterday and was wondering if they were similar. Thanks :)

    August 3, 2010
    • Hi Lauren,

No Victorian Crush is definitely an Army Green, Shawn is more Evergreen.

Recently and yesterday…I can’t help but point that out! Sorry lol

  • Ooh, I really like Bittersweet! They are all very pretty, but I feel like the blue and the two reds are not very unique.

How close are Commander in Chic and Intrigue? I LOVE taupes to no end, I think I’m actually wearing a top the same color as Intrigue today! It gave me CIC vibes off the bat. Bittersweet and Victorian Crush might come home w/ me! Thanks to Lauren for asking the question about Shawn v. VC, I needed that one answered too :)

    • Hi Kallie,

I don’t have Commander in Chic, sorry!

How would you say Victorian Crush compares to Illamasqua’s Hectic? I want that polish, but can’t afford to get it from England even at 50% off. :(

Victorian Crush & Bittersweet are my favorites. Not sure how the Bittersweet will look on my skin tone, though. I think I’ll stick with CG’s “Ingrid,” which just arrived. I have also had good luck with the Jessica formula. Very chip-resistant on me.

Gah! I haven’t bought a Jessica polish in years, but I need to track these babies down! Bittersweet reminds me a little of China Glaze Ingrid (I think that’s the one). Is it a bit more brown? Victorian Crush is just to die for.

    August 3, 2010
  • That army green will be MINE!!!! My you just pushed me over the edge in trying out Jessica polishes. I’ve been holding off on buying. Aside from the Jessica website, anywhere else I can buy these online? Prefer an etailer with Paypal.

  • Love this collection but where do you find Jessica? My favs are:

    * Intrigue – A Haze Of Purple
    * Scarlet – Daring Red
    * Victorian Crush – Army Green
    * Bittersweet – Chocolate Brown

This is a really cool collection. I love bittersweet, victorian crush, and intrigue. I’m not a big fan of the two red colors, but maybe that’s just because red is probably my least favorite nail polish color. The majesty blue seems out of place in the collection, as some other people said. Before seeing this, I had actually never heard of Jessica cosmetics. I’ll definitely have to give the first three colors a try.

    August 3, 2010
  • The top 3 are stand-out. Bottom 3 not so.
Crush could be like Zoya Shawn? As well as Illamasqua Hectic?
