Nicole by OPI Gossip Girl Collection Swatches & Review
Happy Tuesday all!
Well I hope you are coming off a nice long holiday weekend, if you live in the US that is. I wish every weekend was like this one was.
I have a very fun post today featuring the soon-to-be-released limited-edition Gossip Girl collection by Nicole by OPI. I was looking forward to this collection even though I had to stop watching the show this past season. It was getting to be a bit much, plus I watch SO many other things I liked more. Still lovin’ ya though Chuck Bass!
This collection features 4 new colors and all remind me of the ocean rather than bratty, rich, New York teens, but whatever, I still like ‘em. 
The formula on these was really quite nice, as most Nicole by OPI’s I own have been. The polish flowed nicely, I got great coverage and had no streaking with the metallic one.

Party In The Penthouse
Party In The Penthouse is a metallic medium blue with light blue shimmer. For a metallic, this went on very nicely and evenly. I like the color, but I’m not totally head over heels for it. I don’t think it’s all that unique of a blue, but still pretty and worth getting if you don’t have anything like this. This was two coats.
Scandal, Secrets & Sparkle
Scandal, Secrets & Sparkle is a pale shimmery white polish jam-packed with silver and white glitter. What I love about this is that it’s not simply a basic silver glitter. I have a gazillion of those already and don’t need another. But the white in this makes it special. This was three coats.
Too Rich For You
Too Rich For You is a deep shimmery blue-teal. This is the star here! In the bottle I see a duo-chrome effect with some green, but you don’t really catch it on the nail much. But that’s ok with me because this one has a very pretty glow about it. This was two coats.
Nicole…Spotted!
Nicole…Spotted! is a green/blue base packed with various sized and colored glitter pieces. There is some small hexagonal holographic glitter and also various colored small & micro-glitter chunks. I would have liked this much better if it has been more opaque. Not a fan of how sheer this is, so I would only wear it as a layering color. This was a little thick so I would advise waiting a few minutes in-between coats to prevent dragging. This was three coats.
This collection should be coming out in August, I believe. If you purchase the third season of Gossip Girl on DVD you get a $1.00 off coupon for the polish.

The color is similar but Atlantis is a bit more opaque, even though it’s still kind of sheer on me, and this one has larger holo chunks.
I like the Party in the Penthouse and Too Rich For You. The other 2 a little too sheer for me. Are they going to be in all stores?

I like Too Rich for You a lot, but it looks similar to a couple of other polishes I have. I do love the irony of the name, given that Nicoles are now $11.99 at Shoppers’ Drug Mart.
I like Too Rich and Nicole…Spotted. The “Nicole…Spotted” reminds me of the LE $OPI “Midnight Mambo,” which I totally love. Mambo is more opaque, too. Gorgeous swatches!
I like Party and Scandal.
Blackened blues aren’t my thing though and Spotted is shockingly poor for the price.

Too Rich For You reminds me so much of Zoya’s Kotori, which I LOVE. I’m also getting vibes of Tallulah and Tart from Party in the Penthouse. But then again, maybe it’s just me since I did just OD on Zoya blues during the Polish Exchange haha! The other two, definite pass.

I wish they had done more with the theme. They could’ve done a color for each of the four main girls, maybe two for the main moms, and had a diverse set easily.
I like Too Rich for You. Never watched the show so I can only imagine the polish name’s significance. Tonight I was at Walmart and saw a special display of some ‘new’ Nicole by OPI matte shades. (It seems like they could have been Walmart exclusives.) There were probably 6 or 7 current shades done in matte. Have they done any mattes before?
Totally wanted Nicole… Spotted! but not if it was so sheer. I def checked your site on my blackberry before purchasing for a swatch! Thanks Kelly!
