Essie Summer Collection for 2010 Swatches & Review

Um yeah, I am way late to the party on this collection, but am showing it anyway. icon smile Essie Summer Collection for 2010 Swatches & Review

Essie’s new summer collection is made up of 6 new colors, and something you don’t really ever see from them…a GREEN polish! Now I know this is kind of mind blowing because we are so used to the fairly tame pinks, red and oranges with an occasional blue or dark vampy color tossed in. But I can’t remember a green from them ever, at least not in my nail polish collecting lifetime.

The formula on these was really quite good. Most were just two coats and I had no issues to speak of.

Essie Miss Matched Essie Summer Collection for 2010 Swatches & Review
Miss Matched

Miss Matched is a very pale ballerina pink. This is on the sheer side, but did even out pretty decently after three coats. It’s super shiny! I went into applying this thinking “boring”, but I totally changed my mind after the three coats. I really like it on me! I mean I don’t know when I would ever wear it, but if ever I am in a very conservative mood or want something nude & shiny I would totally wear this.

Essie Knockout Pout Essie Summer Collection for 2010 Swatches & Review
Knockout Pout

Knockout Pout is a bright flamingo pink creme. It almost looks neon here, but it’s not. It does tend to dry kind of matte, like a neon would also, but just add a top coat for a regular shiny look. This is a pretty, vivid color for summer and would make a great pedicure color. It’s on the thicker side, but not hard to apply. This was two coats.

Essie Demure Vixen Essie Summer Collection for 2010 Swatches & Review
Demure Vixen

Demure Vixen is a pale pink/mauve with subtle pink, purple, blue & gold shimmer. This was very thin and almost watery, but built up nicely after three coats. It’s really pretty but I don’t love how the color almost blends in with my hands. I wish it was darker or something; but it would look amazing on darker skin tones.

Essie Haute As Hello Essie Summer Collection for 2010 Swatches & Review
Haute As Hello

Haute As Hello is a bright peach/coral creme. I love it! It’s so pretty and I don’t have a lot of colors like it. This was a little thick, but not unmanageable. This one also has that almost matte effect when you don’t have a top coat on it. This was two coats.

Essie Vermillionaire Essie Summer Collection for 2010 Swatches & Review
Vermillionaire

Vermillionaire is a very bright red/orange creme. It’s very shiny and cheery, but probably not something I would normally reach for. I feel I have this color already. This was two coats.

Essie Pretty Edgy Essie Summer Collection for 2010 Swatches & Review
Pretty Edgy

Pretty Edgy is a vivid medium green creme. See, a green! From Essie! Ok yes that’s very unusual but moving on. I actually don’t love this green on me. I think it’s kind of boring and wish it was either darker or had more shimmer. It’s still pretty, but I have so many green polishes now, they need to be REALLY special to totally wow me. This was two coats, but could have been one more for better coverage.

I truly hope with the arrival of Pretty Edgy that this means Essie will come out with more “unusual” colors in the near future.

These should be available now wherever Essie products are sold in your area.

How are you feelin’ these? Are you excited about the green or think it’s not edgy enough for your blood?

  • I know that most of these aren’t really unique and special but there’s something about Essie collections that make me want to buy all the colors. I think I’m gonna buy the “cube” that this collection comes in. Thanks for the swatches as usual!

I love Vermillionaire and Pretty Edgy. The only green Essie I have heard of is the now discontinued Dominica Green.

  • I have Pretty Edgy and Knockout Pout and I love them – especially Knockout Pout. I don’t normally fall for pinks but I think this one is really cute.

  • I picked up Pretty Edgy & Demure Vixen. PE appealed to me after a spring of a lot of mint greens, it’s not exactly special but it’s nice =)

  • I have Haute As Hello and it shows up a lot more orangey on me with 2 coats. Its not my favorite as I was looking for a paler peach (much like how it appears in your picture) so I ended up putting it up for swap on MUA. I really like Miss Matched, though. Been in the market for a milky pink…

  • Hi Kelly:

This Essie collection at first sight was like, “you right, Essie has mostly pink shades.” I don’t like the green or the orange either, LOL. Essie “Haute as Hello, (peach),”Mismatched,”( ballerina pink?! love that description) are very pretty and look sensational on your nails; Essie, “Demure Vixen,”(bright peach /coral) and “Knockout Pout (pink) I can see many women wearing these shades for pedicures for the summer, and there is still time for that…they all look gorgeous on your nails Kelly. Love your web blog every day <3 <3 <3

I agree with Belle, these aren’t particularly unique, but somehow, Essie has put together a great collection nonetheless. I think I am actually going to get the whole set! Your swatches make me so happy! They all look great on you!

  • Eh, this is one of those kinds of collections I’m none too impressed with, especially since the going rate on these Essies is about $8 per bottle. Love the swatches on you, but the only color I may buy is Demure Vixen (and that’s only because I need another lilac-y color in my collection). ;)

  • I have the Miss Matched, Demure Vixen, and Haute as Hello. I was rather meh on the green one. I like MM and DV, and I thought I would really like HaH . But I didn’t. It wasn’t the peach I thought it would be, and the consistency was weird, rather fluffy. It’s been relegated to pedicure only status.

  • I like Knockout Pout, but I don’t usually buy Essie unless it goes on sale so I don’t have it yet. *pout*
