Brenda Novak White Heat – The Novel & Three Custom Color Lip Gloss

If you have been reading my site for awhile, you know I am an avid reader. I read all kinds of things, but mostly contemporary fiction, crime/thrillers and historical fiction. However when I heard that New York Times Bestselling Author Brenda Novak was coming out with a new book alongside a lip gloss, you KNOW I had to check that out!
Confession: I had never read anything by Brenda Novak until this past week. I have seen her books for years and years in stores, but because they were labeled as “Romance/Suspense” I overlooked them. That was a mistake on my part because she writes a really gripping story!
White Heat is her new book which just came out on July 27th. It’s the first in a 3-book series. White Heat might be labeled as romance/suspense, but don’t let that fool you. A bodice-ripper it’s not. It’s more what I would consider a thriller or action story with a little romance thrown in, as most books have.
The book is about two special operatives, Rachel Jessop and Nate Ferrentino who work for a private security company called Department 6. They might be boss and subordinate, but they also have a romantic past…Or maybe it’s not so “romantic”. Either way, they have to work very closely together on a case involving getting inside a cult called The Church of the Covenant in an Arizona Ghost Town called Paradise. Hence the name “White Heat”.
I don’t want to give any fun details away, but the story is a really good one, and it was a very gripping, fun, fast read.
If you are looking for a fun summer read, I would suggest picking this one up. Please know I would never, ever recommend a book that I didn’t actually like and read myself!
The follow up novels called Body Heat and Killer Heat will be released in August and September, respectively. I will be checking those ones out now for sure!

White Heat the lip gloss is a novel “tie-in” created by Three Custom Color Specialists. Brenda had said that lip gloss is the one beauty item she cannot live without, so this was very fun for her.
White Heat lip gloss is described as “a sheer and sexy hot pink lip gloss with silver-white and opalescent shimmer”. I did find that to be true, however it was extremely sheer. So sheer in fact that I couldn’t really swatch it for you because my camera barely picked it up.
On my hand I could definitely see it was pink and had the shimmer mentioned. But my lips are pretty pigmented, so when I applied it, it pretty much looked like a clear gloss with just a slight hint of shimmer.
The great thing about this gloss is it’s extremely non-sticky and smooth. It has a very nice slight fruity scent. Another fun thing is the packaging itself. The gloss swings out from the lid, which is kind of cool and unusual.
If you are into barely there colors and are looking for a subtle shimmery gloss, then this might be the one for you.
You can find White Heat the book in bookstores and online now and White Heat the lip gloss here. The gloss is definitely on the expensive side at $21.50, so be prepared for that if you are interested.

Thank you Kelly! This sounds great book and lip gloss! I love sheer lip glosses with a hint of color because I have no color – pale, pale me! And I love a good thrilling/action book!

What a cool concept: a book with lip gloss! What could be better? I’m finally getting back into reading after a hiatus. Will put this on my list…

The book sounds really interesting. I’ll add it to my list and check it out once I’m finished with Stieg Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy – I’m currently on The Girl Who Played With Fire.

Hi Amber,
I just finished the third of that series. I liked the first two the best

The color sounds nice, aside from it being too sheer. I hate glosses that don’t show up. However, I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Hot pink
And it always makes me smile to hear that someone else is an avid reader.
