butter LONDON Fall 2010 Collection Swatches & Review
butter LONDON’s new fall collection for 2010 is a tribute to the late, great, fashion designer Alexander McQueen.
Obviously I didn’t know the man, but have been reading fashion magazines for most of my life, and was well aware of his unique and quirky style. I think a few of these nail colors definitely match that same vibe that he gave off with his clothing line. Oh and did I mention one of my all-time favorite MAC Lipglasses is one that he created with them? Yep it’s called White Magic and sadly, I am running out of my back-up tube!
This collection includes five colors, four of which I have to show you today. The one I don’t have is called Old Blighty and it’s a brick red creme.
The formula on these was really quite awesome. They had great coverage and nary a streak in sight, even with the yellow one!
Victoriana
Victoriana is a vintage looking type blue with loads silver shimmer. This is a really gorgeous, amazing blue, and the second I applied it, I fell in love. It’s VERY opaque also, you could almost do one coat. I have nothing else like this color. This was two coats.
All Hail McQueen
All Hail McQueen is a pale taupe with holographic glitter. I had NO clue this was a holo until I took it outside after I painted my nails and looked through my lens in the sun. It looks like a shimmery taupe indoors. The holographic effect is pretty subtle here. This is definitely the most sheer and I needed three coats.
Marrow
Marrow is a deep royal purple with silver shimmer. This one too is extremely opaque in almost one coat. Very pretty! This was two coats. Sorry about the drag on my ring finger here, I was swatching in a huge hurry before the sun went away!
Fun Fact: Marrow was named at the Vena Cava fashion show, and was named so because this purple is the color you find deep inside a bone .
Bumster
Bumster is a putty/yellow creme. It’s a very unusual color, not like the typical lemon yellow we see a lot of. I am on the fence about this one on my skin tone though. Part of me loves it because it’s extremely different and one of those “ugly-cool” colors. But the other part of me thinks it’s too warm for my yellow toned skin. Either way I think it’s really cool and unique. This was not streaky at all and applied perfectly in two coats.
Fun fact: Apparently Bumster was named after a pair of trousers that McQueen designed in 1996. These trousers were designed so low-slug that they showed your bum-crack 
Overall I think this is a really nice and unique fall collection, and I think they did a great job in honoring Alexander McQueen.

I love Butter London and purchased a number of them after a post you swatched on.months back These are simply gorgoeus, love the purple of Marrow. blue of Victoriana and taupe of All Hail McQueen.

I first read about these colors on your blog. I ordered Victoriana and All Hail McQueen about two weeks ago and got them last week. These are my first Butters and are absolutely show stopping (particularly Victoriana)! I love the application on these polishes and will be buying more from this brand in the future. Interesting collection. Victoriana is my favorite. Marrow isn’t unique enough…I expected it to be more, well…bloody?…from the details that emerged from the fashion show. The taupe reminds me of those holos that Nubar did for spring. The yellow is unique, but maybe not all that flattering. There is one from the Vintage Vixen collection that seems similar? Your swatches are gorgeous, of course! Lucky for my bank account, my wallet is staying closed on this one.

Ooooh! Kelly, I have been waiting for you to swatch this collection ever since you posted a Butter London video of Nonie Creme creating Marrow for the Vena Cava show several months ago. Marrow is not what I expected. I thought it would be closer to Chanel’s Paradoxal, but it’s not. It looks closer to China Glaze’s Grape Pop, but with shimmer. Victoriana looks nice. Bumster looks better than what I expected.

Love All Hail McQueen. Victorianna is beautiful as well but I just dont like pale blue colors on me for some reason (if I go blue has to be navy or along that line). I’m going to go broke with all these new colors (the China Glaze and OPI lines are kiling me). I just wish there was a butterLondon retailer in my area – the shipping charges really deter me from buying these colors.

I am really happy with this collection. I got these four colors a few days ago, and they have pulled me out of my nail polish funk. My collection’s nowhere near the size yours is, but it’s big, and to have colors that are totally different from anything else I own makes me so happy.

Victoriana is GORGEOUS! And I love Alexander McQueen, his shows were so wonderfully over the top. Unfortunately, my rule is not to buy a polish that’s more than $10. I need to control myself somehow haha

I love Butter London – great formula, cool colours, and lovely manicure products! They all look great, although I agree the yellow may take some getting used to. I have Old Blighty, but it is in my untrieds drawer. Will have to pick up Victoriana for sure. Thanks for more lemmings!
