NYX Purple Smokey Look Eyeshadow Kit
Lately I have been on an NYX kick. I guess it’s because I never really used their stuff until recently, and I didn’t realize how nice a lot of it is!
They have this new eyeshadow kit called Purple Smokey Look, and it’s pretty awesome.
Open up this baby and you get nine gorgeous colors.
These purples are right up my alley.
But not only do you get nine eyeshadows, you also get two lip glosses! They are hidden away in a little drawer under the shadow. I love the idea of this because it makes everything all cool and compact, and easy to carry.
The eyeshadows themselves are pretty nice. Most of them have a really good color payoff and texture, and don’t feel chalky or weird, like some more inexpensive shadows can feel. I was very happy that the glitter in the first color actually showed up on my skin, rather than just being for “show”.
The shadow squares themselves are actually pretty small, but I don’t really think that’s an issue, since I rarely go through a whole shadow anyway. The one thing I do with this palette contained was a vanilla highlight color for the brown bone area. That would make it seem more complete to me, but it’s not a biggie.
As for the glosses I didn’t love them. The texture was nice and creamy, but they were very sheer and didn’t do a whole lot for me. The first one is a sheer peachy pink, and the second is a shimmery golden peach.

Ok, so…you have to run (not walk but run…seriously) to the nearest Walgreens. They have some ridiculously cheap Jordana eyeshadows (2.49). Now I generally see Jordana at the Dollar Tree but somehow they made these AMAZING baked eyeshadows. They come in these awesome colors that are super bright and flashy and sparkly and and and! They have a bright yellow, orange, blue, pretty flashy pink, a purple with blue flash, and my favorite a green that on my skin flashes orange. Not only do they have the baked shadows but they also have matching eyeliners that I’m not adventurous enough to try even though I did buy the yellow eyeshadow.

My second favorite eye shadow shade. My first is olive green. This is a nice kit. I just wish glosses weren’t in it. Even the wonderful Bobbi Brown has lip glosses mixed with shadows. I like them separate. I can’t stand when the powder gets into the gloss. I have enough makeup to last a few lifetimes. It’s nice to know how good the shadows are. They are lovely purples and very tempting. I do have a bunch of palettes from NYX when they had an awesome sale two years ago.

Man I love those purples! I’ve been looking for more colors to use in eyeshadows… I’ve gotten bored of the golds, browns, and other neutrals I’ve used for the past million years. I think I need to get this kit!

This compact is adorable! The purples are great. Doesn’t seem like the glosses really “go” with the eyeshadows, though. I would have expected more pink or plum. Still, it seems like a good value for the shadows nonetheless.

I love purple too! It’s funny that you posted this, because I was wearing eyeshadow this weekend, looked through my stash and thought, “No purple???” I will probably buy this palette. I tend to like NYX cosmetics. Have you tried their nailpolish? They have some great colours.
