OPI Summer Flutter Collection Swatches & Review
Hiya folks!
OPI has a new summer collection out called Summer Flutter and I’ve got them for you today.
I was pretty pleased with these because they were a little different from what I would expect of OPI for summer. In other words, more interesting than normal!
Having said that though I was a little disappointed after I actually applied them. A few of the “more interesting” ones didn’t live up to my expectations from the bottles.
The formula was fine, if not a little thick. They were all two coaters except one.
Read on!
Flower-To-Flower is a creamy pink with very subdued silvery shimmer. I am in love with this color! Seriously I know it’s like a Barbie pink, but it went on so smooth and nice, and I love the shimmer. I wore this one already and I really do love it. Perfect for summer! This was two coats.
Flit In A Bit is a bright orange creme. I was pleased enough with this one because it wasn’t all that warm on me and it worked with my skin tone. Having said that, I still don’t see this as being a huge break-through color or anything. This was two coats.
Wing It! is a pinkish/red jelly formula with duochrome glitter that turns violet, blue & gold. This is the one I was really disappointed in. First off you don’t get as much of the duochrome effect on the nail as in the actual bottle. Also it’s very sheer. I have three coats on here and you can definitely still see my nail line. I REALLY wish it was more opaque! Oh well, you can’t win ‘em all.
Catch Me In Your Net is a medium blue packed with gold & green duochrome glitter. It looks very mermaid-esque, but I was a little disappointed here also. Again the duochrome effect was more apparent in the bottle than on the nail, and this just didn’t “wow” me. This was much more opaque than Wing It! though and I only used two coats.
Overall I think this is a good collection and definitely more interesting than say your standard pinks, reds and nudes. However I wish the glittery ones had grabbed me more.
These are available in stores now, I believe.
How do you feel about Summer Flutter?

I’m definitely interested in Wing It! but I wish someone would do a comparison between it and $OPI Go With the Flow-er. From pictures I’ve seen of Wing It! it looks very similar to the $OPI, which I already have.

Hi Stephanie,
I don’t have them side by side but here’s the link to my swatch of Go With The Flow-er http://www.vampyvarnish.com/2010/02/02/sephora-by-opi-nail-colour-for-spring-2010-swatches-review/
That one is a darker pink and much more opaque. I don’t think it had as much lavender shimmer either.
Lovely. Originally I thought that I was going to pass on Fit In A Bit, but your pics are convincing me to just get this yummy orange! The rest are gorg and must-buys for me.

Hi Belle,
Oh goodie, glad I could enable you
I wish Wing It! Were more opaque. The color would be fantastic if so!
Hi Phyrra,
I know! I think some companies need a lesson in opacity hahaha!
I had on Catch Me In Your Net yesterday, it stained my nails really bad despite two layers of stuff underneath it. Not happy about it
Hi Jen,
Oh man sorry to hear that!
F2F I like.
Wing It looks as if it has blue in the bottle. That IS disappointing.
Jen´s last post…A cautionary tale – no, 2 cautionary tales!
Hi Jen,
Yeah I wish all polishes really looked like they do in the bottle!
How funny! I just reviewed this collection, too.
I wasn’t thrilled with it but Catch Me In Your Net was, in my opinion, the best one out of the 4. Sadly, I’ve already seen Catch Me In Your Net before…and it’s called Zoya’s Charla.
Carinae L’etoile´s last post…OPI Flutter Collection – Part 2 – Summer 2010
Hi Carinae L’etoile,
Yep they are pretty much identical!
The promo pics had me thinking Catch Me In Your Net had more green duochrome in it than Charla… I wish it did! Sadness. I’ll skip this collection.
Hi, I was surprised to see this collection. The swatches are always appreciated but I didnt like any of them:( Looking foward to OPI Fall 2010!!!!
I have already bought Wing It and Catch Me in your Net — I haven’t tried them yet, so I’m kind of bummed to hear they’re less interesting on the nail than in the bottle. Still, they are gorgeous in the bottle, which is how I’ll see them more often than on my nail! (Seriously — sometimes it’s just about owning the color, not wearing the nail polish, isn’t it?)
I think I’ll get only half this collection. Wing It looks too similar to my swatch of Zoya Gilda for me to even be interested in, and we all know about the issue with Catch Me In Your Net since I’ve already got Zoya Charla. However, I don’t think I’ll be missing out on Flower To Flower or Flit A Bit.

The only color I’m really in love with is Flower-to-Flower.
I had plans to get the mini-set of these four colors, but I think perhaps I won’t, and I’ll just get the pretty pink shimmer. Thanks for the swatches!
I love the first one, the barbie pink colour. The other ones are too 60′s for me. I feel that this collection was just thrown together instead of actually taking the time and promoting a good collection.
Thanks for the posting. Always love your reviews!
Great collection, I love the orange

The only one I was interested in was Catch Me In Your Net (because I don’t have Zoya Charla). I’m was disappointed that you were disappointed in the colour. Made me rethink if I should bother getting it. I’ll have to go to the store and see it in person.

Your swatches are gorgeous! I agree with others that “Wing It” is pretty darn close to $OPI’s “Go With the Flow-er.” Obviously, this is disappointing since OPI and $OPI are basically the same company and these collections came out back to back. The orange “Fit In A Bit” looks really good on you, so nice & shiny. It’s funny, I realize that I usually alternate my polishes….glittery/shimmery for a few days, then I’m craving a creme. Do you do that? The “Flower to Flower” is my favorite here, I’m such a sucker for a good pink. I feel like I probably have a Zoya that’s similar, but I’m having such a hard time with Zoya’s formula (the chips, the bubbles) that I’m just about to give up on that brand & stick to OPI, which seems to be more consistent for me.
Aww I was looking forward to Wing It!…I might just get it anyway since I don’t have anything like it.
I love Flower-to-Flower!!!
Great swatches!
I have actually just ordered all of them except Flit a Bit,
I’ll probably love ‘em despite what you think!
How would You say Wing it! compares to Zoyas Gilda and Alegra? Please help me, haven’t found any comparisons with them and I wanna see them together.
Hmmm, only Wing It as a color really excites me, but I’m sad you said it was super sheer. Maybe it would be good over another color?
Hi Kelly: I think OPI has done it once more. “Catch Me in Your Net” (that lovely blue shade and “Flirt a Bit,” I love that orange color shade for some reason. I want it! They are all beautiful color swatches but these two caught my eye. They fit right onto your beautiful nails. I love this web blog, it’s really something I look forward too, thank you for doing this and sharing your reviews and swatches. Nameste.
