Evil Shades Cosmetics Deviant Lipstick Swatches & Review

Good morning!

I hope you are all having a fabulous day. Today I wanted to show you something a little different from a brand called Evil Shades Cosmetics. If you know of the Black Nail Polish and Lip Gloss website, then you already know who Andrea is! Not only is she a nail polish and makeup blogger, but she has her own line of cosmetics out.

A little about Evil Shades Cosmetics: Andrea started her company three years ago when she began to get frustrated that she couldn’t find any black lip gloss anywhere. She decided to venture off on her own and create her very own gloss. After some trial and error, she came up with the perfect formula and that gloss is now called Venom. At first it was just a hobby for friends & family, but after two years she began selling not only her gloss, but also eyeshadows she had created. And a company was born!

All the cosmetics sold made by Andrea herself. The makeup is cruelty-free and some products are even Vegan!

The products I am reviewing today are from her lipstick line called Deviant Lipstick. There are about 12 different shades of lipstick in this line and I tried three of them. I have to say in all honestly, I was pretty blown away by how nice they were!

They come in black .15 oz Chapstick-like plastic tubes with a white label on them telling you the shade. But don’t be fooled by the unassuming packaging – these babies are REALLY creamy. I don’t know why but when I saw the container I expected them to have a Chapstick like, waxy consistency. I was really off-base. They are very moist and super opaque. They are made with, among other things, Castor Seed Oil and Olive Fruit Oil, which I think definitely helps with how smooth and nice they feel. They have a very mild fruity/candy scent, nothing overpowering or plastic-y though.

Primrose Path

Primrose Path is a pretty peach/pink with some slight gold/green shimmer. This was the first one I applied and I was very impressed with the color payoff. I thought I would have to apply it over and over but nope, just one swipe and you get major color. This is a really pretty color and looks great with my skin tone. Don’t let the green shimmer scare you, it’s very, very subtle as you can see from the swatch on my lips.

Evil Shades Deviant Lipstick Reign2 Evil Shades Cosmetics Deviant Lipstick Swatches & Review
Reign

Reign is a beige/nude with subtle pink shimmer. This is a really great color, I LOVE IT ON ME! Seriously I am always looking for a really good beige/nude and they are usually very corpse-like (MAC Folio) or too pink. But this is a really great nude for my lip color. Again, the lipstick was very creamy and great.

Evil Shades Deviant Lipstick Devilista2 Evil Shades Cosmetics Deviant Lipstick Swatches & Review
Devilista

Devilista is a true blue-red creme. THIS IS AMAZING. For real – of all of these, this was the one that shocked me the most. This color was so damn opaque and fabulous right off the bat. It’s the perfect blue-red, for fair skin especially. This was just as smooth on as the others. When I think of red’s like this I think of MAC Russian Red; however that one dries my lips out after a few hours, and doesn’t even apply as smooth as this did. The only caveat with this color was that it doesn’t apply perfect from the tube. You will probably need a brush to smooth out the edges. Obviously when wearing a shade this bright you want it to look as neat as possible, lest you start channeling Courtney Love. icon smile Evil Shades Cosmetics Deviant Lipstick Swatches & Review

These swatches were one stroke only!

So needless to say, I am impressed by these and think she’s really onto a good thing here!

You can find these and other Evil Shades Cosmetics on her website here and these are $4.75.

I will be reviewing some of her eyeshadows and blush soon, so stay tuned!

How do you guys feel about these colors?

  • I love devilista. I sooo want a hot red but I never know what kind of shade to go for that will suit my skin-tone. I’m fair-normal skin toned with freckles and brown hair…do you have any suggestions? lol

    • Hi Tilly,

Are the undertones in your skin more pink or yellow (warm or cool)? For instance I am a (MAC) NC20. I am pretty fair but not super-white. I have some slight freckles and blue eyes/light hair. My undertones are yellow but only slightly. I can pretty much get away with any red as long as it’s not TOO orange, but I really prefer blue reds, like this one.

  • Oh wow, those are amazing, the first is unusual and I’m intrigued by the green shimmer but I’m really loving that red on you and as I think I’ve got similar colouring I need to get me one – and I don’t even wear regular lipstick!

  • I love Primrose path. I think I’m going to order it.

Thanks for the new product line and swatches. I love that gorgeous red – Devilista! I’m fair as well and this red certainly is the type I can wear. I can’t wait for more product swatches – thank you!

  • I absolutely ADORE Devilista. It is one of the most perfect blue reds I’ve found. Totally up there with YSL in terms of colour and consistency. And way cheaper. I never fail to be complimented when wearing it.

  • I’ve never heard of this brand or this blogger. Your swatches are pretty amazing. Hmmm although I could never be brave to wear that red lipstick it does look pretty amazing.
