I was so excited about these I swatched them as soon as I got them this afternoon, and wanted to post them as soon as possible.
This of course is China Glaze’s new Vintage Vixen collection for fall 2010. Yes fall. Already. We are not even into summer yet, but fall colors abound. But you know what? That’s fine with me because the fall collections are always my favorite. That’s when we see most of the darker and more weird colors come out, which I adore.
I must admit when I saw promo pics of these and heard the word “frost” being tossed about, I wasn’t all that thrilled. But it turns out I REALLY like the majority of this collection and was pleasantly surprised how un-frosty they turned out to be. They are more metallic than frost.
This collection comes in two separate sets, but I am showing them all to you now. Just so you have the info, here is how the sets are broken down:
Part 1 includes:
- Classic Camel
- Swing Baby
- Goin’ My Way?
- Riveter Rogue
Part 2 includes:
- Hey Doll
- Emerald Fitzgerald
- First Class Ticket
- Midnight Mission
The formula was totally great on almost all of these. I had no problems with any of them but some were more opaque than others.
Check them out below!
Classic Camel is a khaki/yellow/beige color with gold glitter flecks. This has a very warm yellow base but surprisingly didn’t totally clash with my skin. I was most excited about this color because it looked the most unusual from the promo pics. I was right! This was two coats.
Swing Baby is a metallic taupe with multi-colored micro-glitter. This one reminds me a lot of one of my colors from BB Couture called Union Square, but it’s a bit more pale. This has that foil look about it, which I like. This was two coats.
Ingrid is a light brown with copper, pink and green micro-glitter. This applied very thin and almost watery, but was nice and opaque in three coats. I love this color, I think it’s super flattering and very pretty.
Goin’ My Way? is a warm copper colored brown metallic with gold, pink and green shimmer. This has a “glowy” effect and I was quite surprised how much I liked it. I think out of this set, it was my second favorite! This was two coats.
Foxy is a deep warm red/brown with gold and red shimmer. This is another one that glows and I wound up thinking it was really nice on the nail compared to how I thought it looked just from the bottle. This was two coats.
Riveter Rogue is a deep yet bright red with red shimmer. This is a color that reminds me a lot of the holidays and would be perfect for Christmas I think. This was two coats.
Hey Doll is a rose colored pink metallic with multi-colored shimmer. This is a pretty color, but not my favorite on me personally. This was two coats.
Bogie is a plum purple with multi-colored shimmer. This is a very pretty color and I am happy it wasn’t a royal purple. It has a deep greyed out feeling to it which makes it unique to me. This was two coats.
Emerald Fitzgerald is a jade green with green and blue shimmer. I totally love this green simply for the fact that it isn’t really emerald green. I have a ton of those, but I don’t have very many this shade. This was actually only ONE COAT here ladies & gents!
Firts Class Ticket is a deep royal purple (like I said above I was happy not to see) BUT its saving grace is the shimmer and the glowy feeling it gives off. This was two coats.
Midnight Mission is a navy blue with silver micro-glitter. This is very pretty, but I feel like I might have another color or two similar. This was two coats.
Jitterbug is a charcoal with silver micro-glitter. I really like this one and here’s why. It’s not your average silver metallic like we have seen a zillion times. It’s darker, so it’s more interesting, and I know I don’t have anything like this one. This was two coats.
Overall I am very pleased with this collection. I am a lot more happy with it than I thought I would be!
I think the colors are totally spot on for fall and there are some very unique colors in here that I don’t have anything like yet. Yay China Glaze!
These will be available starting the first week of June.
What do you guys think about these?
