Illamasqua Jan Nail Varnish Swatches & Review
Happy Friday!
I decided to finally show my swatch of Illamasqua’s Jan nail varnish that I did about a month ago. I figured I already had it swatched, so why not just post it already?
Isn’t Jan lovely? She’s a dusty pink/mauve creme and she flows sooooooo smoothly. She’s also a two-coater, BONUS! I knew the second I saw this one in the bottle that I was going to love it since I love pretty much anything with a dusty effect to it.
This isn’t a new color, it’s part of their core collection and you can find it on the Sephora or Illamasqua websites.
What do you think about Jan?
In other news
I am getting back into the mood to do some swatching so hopefully the sun will cooperate this weekend and I will have fun stuff to show next week.
I’ve got quite a few new collections to cover including: Misa’s Mardi Gras, BB Couture For Men, Deborah Lippmann and those sexy Rococo colors! And hopefully *fingers crossed* the new pastel Illamasqua’s!

Very pretty pink, looks similar to the China Glaze up and away pink…is it a possible dupe?
Hi Jackie S.,
No, this one is more dusty and not pastel like that one is.
Lovely and muted. A dupe (cheaper) would be good to know.
Hi Jen,
Sorry I don’t have any similar to this!
I adore colors with a dusty quality too! Snaps to Illamasqua for the formula, especially in that finish and tone! I’m hoping their pastels apply as well.

Hi Sarah R.,
Yes I am super curious about the pastels also. Will be getting them soon.
Lovely color!!

Hi Arianna,
Thanks!
I don’t know if it was an issue with my application (base, top coat etc.) but the last two times I’ve worn DWS on my fingernails, my polish started chipping in two days
Maybe I need to be nicer to my hands! Your post reminded me that I do have Jan waiting for me: maybe it’s time to give Illamasqua another chance – Jan is such a lovely color.
Hi moxy,
Yeah mine usually chips within 2-3 days no matter what I do also. Water is the worst on polish so if you wash your hands a lot or have them in water a lot, you will get chips much faster.
Happy Friday too you!! Although it’s raining here in NY and will be for the next 4 days, it is Friday!! So glad to see you swatching….beautiful color. I bought a paintbrush so hopefully my mani will look as good as yours! Looking foward to future swatches
. Can you recommend a good nude color? I checked your swatches for “nude” didnt see anything that I luvd…..
Hi Leigh-Ann,
What kind of nude are you looking for a more tan nude or pink nude?
tan nude
Hi Leigh-Ann,
Yeah what you see posted is basically what I have covered. I really only swatch nudes if they happen to come to me in a set from a PR company, I never buy them because I’m not really a fan…Sorry!
I’m excited for these new swatches!

Hi Arrianne,
Yay! And there’s even more!!
Oooooh! That Jan is so pretty. I’m such a sucker for dusty-type pinks. It can be hard to find the right, flattering one. Thanks for the beautiful swatch!
Hi SB_Sweetie,
You are welcome.
Love it. Those dirty pink/purple colours remind me of the insides of foxglove flowers (do you have them in US?) and always look really nice with a tan.
Hi emma,
I had to Google them, but yes we do have them! They are so pretty!
Glad to see your feeling a little better.
I have Jan and have not even tried it yet! This is what happens when you read too many nail polish blogs and become a NP hoarder!!! LOL…..I always enjoy reading your posts. Thanks for all your hard work cause I know it is. Sometimes when i do my own mani i think back to all you lovely ladies that take the time to this for us and I think, “how can they do this and not just quit on any given day?” It shows your dedication and love for what you do and i just wanted to express my gratitude.
Peace and Love always.
Hi stubby,
Thanks I totally know what you mean about not trying stuff but owning it for awhile. It’s even harder when you are trying to decided what mani to do and you have to search through 12 million colors, all of which you like, lol!
Hi Kelly:
Hope your feeling better, love this pink creme color from Illamasqua it looks awesome on your gorgeous nails. Their unique design is special and have purchased other shades mainly because of your recommendations, LOL Maybe not this one in particular, but I love the other polishes they have. This color is very pretty and perfect for your skin tone. Can;’t wait to see the other swatches.
((((Love Kelly))))

I love that color. Right on the edge between lavender and pink. I’ve been looking for exactly something like that; I hope it looks as nice on my skin as it does on yours.
VV, will I be able to run to my neighborhood Sephora and pick it up? Or has it been selling out, do you know?
Hi Im,
Nah this isn’t a new or limited edition color so they should have it there. I don’t think I have I Lilac You A Lot, so I’m not sure, sorry!
As for “close to” dupes, how close is Diamond #283
I Lilac You A Lot IYO?
I love Jan. I didn’t like it in the bottle as I thought it was too pink but it does dry to that awesome dusty finish – it’s gorgeous. And work appropriate!

Hi Helen,
Yes it is, you should check it out!
Pretty shade on you. I like the dustyness of this!
