Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Nail Lacquer for Summer 2010 Swatches & Review

Estee Lauder’s new collection for summer 2010 is called Bronze Goddess. They have included two new nail colors in this collection, which I have for you today.

These are the first Estee Lauder nail polishes I have ever tried. I’m not sure why, I guess normally their color don’t appeal to me. However these ones were not to be missed…

I kind of loved the bottle shape, even though it does look retro. But it looks retro in a very 1950’s way. It’s like an ice cube with thick heavy glass surrounding the polish.

The formula on these was fantastic as one would hope after spending $22.00 on a bottle. Read on!

Wild Orchid

Wild Orchid is a fuchsia pink with a heavy blue shimmer flash to it. The bright pink with blue flash is pretty popular right now, and I can see why, it’s very pretty. Having said that though, this wasn’t my favorite one of them. This color was very sheer. I used three coats here and you can still see the VNL. Four would have been better, but I just can’t do it. So unless you like to pile it on or you like sheers, I would says this might not be your best bet.

Ultra Violet

Ultra Violet is a deep violet purple with heavy pink shimmer. It’s GORGEOUS, no lie. I originally tried to buy this a month ago, but it was sold out. I can see why. This doesn’t really say “summer” to me, but really, who cares? It was rich and opaque going on, and I only needed two coats. I am thinking this is another favorite purple of mine now! RUN to the store and get this one if you love purples people!

Overall I am pretty pleased with these. I’m not thrilled that Wild Orchid is so sheer, but it is doable. And I LOVE Ultra Violet, so I’m very happy I bought that one.

You can find these at Nordstrom or Bloomingdales or wherever they sell Estee Lauder and they retail for about $22.00 each.

What do you think?

Love them! I definitely want to pick up Ultra Violet, it’s just gorgeous. I’m torn about Wild Orchid. It’s pretty but is it $22.00 pretty? Ha-ha, I’ll think about it. It looks like it might be an interesting layering polish though.

      Hi mary,

I agree, you have to get Ultra Violet at least, it’s SO amazing!

  • March 23, 2010

Love these! Oh my goodness. I think I might HAVE to have Ultra Violet. I like that bottle too!

      Hi Niki,

Yep get it! :) The bottle looks so Hollywood glamor to me.

  • March 23, 2010

    Ultra Violet is the one!
It reminds me a bit of your Napa Valley in a way. Only different obviously. How stupid does that sound?

    • March 23, 2010

      Hi Jen,

No I totally see what you are talking about. It has that serious shimmery/glittery glow about it. :)

  • March 23, 2010

I appreciate all colors, but Wild Orchid is not for me. However, I am a big sucker for deep purple sparkly shimmer, so I really like Ultra violet and your swatch really picks up on the pink undertone. I will have to pass because of the heavy price, If I’m gonna spend $22 for a deep purple I think I’m gonna go for the NP2 Theory-I just can’t pull the trigger! BTW-I wear darks all year round-luv them!!

    • March 23, 2010

      Hi Leigh-Ann,

Yeah I hear ya, it is a steep price! I wear darks all year around also. :)

  • March 23, 2010

Ultra Violet is stunning! I hate spending more than $10 on polishes but that one would be so worth it!

Oh those are pretty. I’m too poor to spend $22 on a single nail polish, though. :( Maybe I can try frankening those.

Oh no. I must own Ultra Violet!

Yum! Ultra Violet reminds me of your Napa Valley Red from BB Couture. It’s like the purple version of that polish….all lit from within. Alas, I will admire Ultra Violet from afar…$15 is my max for polish…over $10 and it has to be REALLY special.

    The new masthead is cool!

Love love love ultra violet! The bottles are gorgeous too

Ultra Violet is so gorgeous, and I’m always a sucker for these types of purples. Even so, I’m not so willing to fork over that much for a bottle just yet. I think the most I spent on one bottle of nail polish was $15 (Canadian). Once I was going to get “Scrangie” from Rescue Beauty Lounge, but by the time I finally sucked it up and was ready to buy it, it sold out. Too slow. Sigh…

Wild Orchid and Ulta violet are pretty! I’m just too cheap to pay $22 for it. I’m so spoiled by buying Color Club and China Glaze.

      Hi marisol,

Yes I did and I love it!!

  • March 23, 2010

Ultra Violet is so pretty! You are right about the bottle being retro, but a cute retro, not 80’s.

  • March 23, 2010

I couldn’t help myself. I went and bought Ultra Violet. When i put it on i couldn’t stop looking at my nails ,especially in the sunlight!

  • March 24, 2010

Ultraviolet is gorgeous but I agree with the others that the price is too steep.

I think 22 dollars is WAY too much to pay for a nail polish. :p Haven’t you been hit by the economic issues? I love nail polish but 22 bux??? I’d better get more than 5 bottles!

      Hi Lacquered Lizard,

Yes $22.00 is a lot pay I agree that many people won’t want to cough up that much.

  • March 24, 2010

Wow Ultra Violet is beautiful but I can’t pay $22.00 for one polish.

  • March 24, 2010

Ultra Violet looks so beautiful. Steep price but that is really something. Looks gorgeous on. I saw this on Mary’s blog BodyandSoul and loved it on her also. I have to look for this.

  • March 24, 2010

I had seen a few swatches of Ultra Violet before and managed to resist, but seeing yours finally pushed me to get it. I’m glad I did 😀
