BB Couture Butterfly Collection for Spring 2010 Swatches & Review
One of my very favorite nail polish companies has come out with another incredible collection for spring. BB Couture keeps the hits coming with the Butterfly collection. Not only is it incredible, it’s NOT pastel or neon, hallelujah!
Can I just tell you that nail fanatics who have access to BB Couture and haven’t yet tried them are insane?? Seriously you MUST get some of their polish.
The formula on these was pretty darn good with a couple (small) issues.

Emperor
Emperor is a peach with gold shimmer. This is SUPER cheery and spring-ish. I SO heart this color I can’t even explain. I am really into the peaches this year! What I love about this color is the shimmer in it. We have seen a few really nice peaches, but they have been cremes. This was a little sheer going on so I used three coats.
Peacock
Peacock is a sunny bright yellow creme. This leans a little towards the warm side of yellow, but not so much that me (with my yellow undertones) can’t wear it. This was the problem kitten in the litter in terms of formula. Most yellows have this streaking issue, blah, blah, blah. You have heard this spiel before. Having said that I still loved the actual color, and used three coats to get it (mostly) even. No clue why it’s named Peacock though, I have yet to see a yellow Peacock!
Painted Lady
Painted Lady is a bright orange jelly with yellow micro-glitter. This almost looks glass flecked. It goes on flawlessly and is very pretty. Usually I’m not a huge orange fan, but this is definitely one of the nicer ones I have seen. This was two coats.
Caterpillar
Caterpillar is a bright green with gold and pink shimmer. What, another stunning green you say! How is this possible? Well it is and it’s NOT a dupe for any of their other greens either. The closest one I can think of to this would be Iced Olive, but that is a darker, more olive toned green. L.O.V.E. This was two coats.
Skipper
Skipper is a medium fuchsia pink with blue shimmer flash. Remember yesterday when I was talking about all those cool pinks with blue shimmer in the Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess post? Well this is what Wild Orchid wishes it was. This is much more opaque than Wild Orchid, and it’s beautiful. This was two coats.
Horned Devil
Horned Devil is an orange/red jelly with orange glitter. This was my least favorite in the collection, but I still kinda liked it. It’s my least favorite only because I am not huge on orange/red’s in general. This was two coats.
What can I say this collection is totally amazing. I am SO glad it wasn’t more pastels or neons. I really don’t think anyone could make better pastels than the Orly Sweet collection and China Glaze Up & Away anyway except maybe Illamasqua’s Pastels, but only if they added more colors. Quite frankly I am really glad it wasn’t all glitters or cremes also!

I’m afraid it’s a not for me…all the shades are entirely too warm for my skin tone.
I am loving these! They are totally shouting “spring” to me! Painted Lady, Skipper, and Caterpillar are my favorites. Gorgeous swatches. They all look so pretty on you!
That Caterpillar haas my name written all over it. I will definitely be ordering this one. I also like Emperor and Painted Lady. I’ve bought the last 4 or 5 collections in total. I think I’ll just be buying those three this time around.
These don’t really appeal to me…the colours are a little warm for me. Caterpillar is neat though.

I love these. Horned Devil is already on its way to me. But maybe I should get Emperor and Skipper. I’ll put them on my wishlist. And Painted Lady. Ho hum.
Peacock – could be named for the yellowish spots on the wings of the peacock butterfly?
BB is the funkiest brand out there. Just think of the men’s range!
I love that orange! What a great colour! Perfect for the toes in the summer! Just gorgeous.
I cannot picture most men wearing these colours lol….
Got to say, they’re not calling to me. It’s a lovely collection and it is so nice to see brights shades but there’s nothing I need so much that I feel life won’t go on if I dont have it in my collection.
By the way, the rolling eyes in your banner advert scared the bejesus out of me!

I like Emperor but the others are kind of meh to me.
Kelly, can you do a post explaining what each of the swatches are that are in your banner? I recognize some of the shades but it would be nice to have them all listed in one spot!

That green is gorgeous! BB Couture seems to make lots of greens. Why I don’t have a single bottle from this company is ridiculous. Hope they ship to Canada and the duty isn’t too bad. Going to check it out now.
