Kat Von D Memento Mori Eyeshadow Palette Swatches & Review
Good afternoon!
So when I was browsing Sephora’s website recently I came across a new eyeshadow palette by Kat Von D called Memento Mori, and I knew right away it needed to be mine. I love her palettes, I have all of them except True Love. Not only did the colors totally call to me, but you see, the colors in this palette are named after famous Day of the Dead skulls, and if you guys have been reading my blog for awhile, you know I love Day of the Dead stuff.
Memento Mori comes from a Latin phrase that means “remember that you will die”.
Now check out the swatches!

The first thing that drew me in was the packaging of course. All her other palettes are black, but this one really stands out with the white case and blue Day of the Dead artwork that of course, looks like an old school tattoo.

What I really like about this palette is that the colors are more wearable for the every day person who might not want extreme dark blacks or blues. Though there are still some nice dark options in here also.

L to R: Creme Eyeshadow True, Solitude, Meditation, Agatha Pink

L to R: Sugar Skull, Peggy, Hard Luck, Tijuana

L to R: Creme Eyeshadow True, Solitude, Meditation, Agatha Pink
True is a deep indigo creme shadow. Solitude is a lavender. Meditation is a super shimmery coppery/gold and Agatha Pink is a pale shimmery peach.

L to R: Sugar Skull, Peggy, Hard Luck, Tijuana
Sugar Skull is a pale yellow shimmer. Peggy is a turquoise with gold shimmer. Hard Luck is an olive green with gold shimmer and Tijuana is a deep chocolate brown with copper shimmer.
The texture of these is really nice. They aren’t too “powdery” and they tend to be pretty opaque. I did have some fallout when I used Hard Luck yesterday, but I think next time I’ll apply it over MAC Painterly Paint Pot to keep it in place and see if that helps. Meditation had an exceptional consistency and opaqueness to it. My only complaint is I wish she also included a pale color that wasn’t so shimmery for the brow bone because normally I don’t like to *shimmer* from lashline to brow, lol!
I find all these colors very wearable for me and I really like them all. The only one I’m not yet sure about and have yet to actually wear is the True, the creme one. Normally every creme shadow I have ever worn creased quickly on me, except MAC Paint Pots, but then again I haven’t really tried that many since I started wearing Urban Decay Potion Primer, so maybe that will solve it.
You can find this palette on Sephora’s website here and the price is $34.00.
I know there has been a lot of chatter about this palette on Twitter, so for those of you who were interested, do you like it?

This made my day, and i’ve been having a pretty shitty one.
I *almost* made an impulse buy the minute I saw this and just barely managed to stop myself. It’s so purdy… And the shadows look awesome. I love Solitude & Meditation. Thanks for the swatches!
