It’s Thursday and I am bringing you quite possibly one of the best purple nail polishes ever to grace the fingernails of the world!

I do not exaggerate people. I had my doubts about NARS Purple Rain being this good because I was disappointed a little with Chanel Vendetta, which was also totally hyped. But as soon as I saw Scrangie’s swatches, I placed my order!

Purple Rain is part of the NARS spring 2010 collection. It’s just gorgeous, as you will soon discover.

The formula was like butter, so flawless and wonderful, as you would expect from NARS.

I am tempting the evil eBay thieves by not watermarking these but they were so nice I couldn’t bear it! These are all taken indoors with and without flash. Peep and drool!

Purple Rain (with flash)

Purple Rain is a jewel toned deep purple with blue and red shimmer running throughout. The color changes depending on which way you turn your hand, it’s just stunning. I had my whole “Top 5 Purples” post all figured out until this baby came. Now I have to re-think things, because this is definitely in there! The closest other purple I own to this is Illamasqua Baptiste, but this seems to have more of the blue and red shimmer and this isn’t as “blackened” as Baptiste can look. This was two coats.

Good afternoon people of the world!

Recently, I was looking at Illamasqua’s line of varnish on Sephora’s website and realized I was missing Snap. Blasphemy, I thought as I quickly put it into my shopping cart. Seriously, I don’t know how this one managed to sneak by me, but she’s mine now and she’s a beaut!

The formula on this baby was a little tricky. She’s very thick and temperamental. You have to wait a few minutes after the first coat to apply a second or you will get bald patches and streaks. However, she’s so thick that two coats is all you’ll ever need. She took a wee bit longer to dry as well, but it’s well worth it!

Snap

Snap is a deep pewter metallic with silvery shimmer. You know I love me some grey’s and this is probably one of the best ones I have ever seen. It’s dark and vampy, it’s metallic, but also shimmery and it looks like molten metal. What more can a girl ask for? The wear on this puppy has been really great also. I managed to get three full days out of it, which for me isn’t all that common (especially for a metallic, they tend to get chippier sooner). I wore it over Illamasqua’s base coat and the top coat I used was Nubar Diamont. This is two coats.

If you like deep greys or colors that look like melted metal, this is for you!

I got this at Sephora and it was $14.00. I believe it’s part of their regular collection, so it’s not LE.

Here is the top part of the gate to Buckingham Palace, otherwise known as my home away from home.

1. How has your week been so far? Not great, lots of stress about my dog.

2. Are you a glass is half full or empty kind of person? Usually empty at first but then sometimes I see the full side.

3. What’s on your nails? None actually!

4. How do you cope with people who are obviously threatened by you (not physically)? I don’t know, which is why I ask you!

5. What’s the best cosmetic product you have ever used? I know a lot of people don’t like it because of the packaging it comes in, but I still say for me, it’s Urban Decay Primer Potion. For years and years I dealt with my eye shadow creasing, usually within 2 hours. Then all damn day I would be trying to fix it. Nothing worked until I found this product. Now I can wear eye shadow for 16 hours with no creasing whatsoever, I absolutely love it. I have gone through many, many tubes of it since it came out.

6. Have you ever had a chocolate covered Twinkie? No and I would love to! I actually asked this because I have a replica of an old tin sign with chocolate covered Twinkies on it and I have never actually seen them, so I wonder if they really exist!

7. What is your favorite form of exercise? None. Ha, ha, kidding. Sort of. I really loathe exercising, I am lazy as hell. But I always feel great after I work out. I would say going  on a long hike with my camera is my favorite kind of exercise, but I don’t do it often enough!

8. Who’s the hottest vampire ever? Billy Wirth from The Lost Boys. He’s the one with black long hair, the epitome of a hot vamp. Runner up is Brad Pitt as Louis in Interview With a Vampire. Don’t kill me but these guys they have playing vampires now on Twilight and The Vampire Diaries are total dorks to me! I think I could kick their asses, if necessary.

9. What was the worst book you ever read? The Odyssey. Not because it was horrible, the story is actually interesting, but it was SO HARD to understand! I had to read it and The Iliad in a Greek Mythology class in college and I never thought I would get through it. A very close second was A Room Of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf. I just cannot stand her writing style, it makes me stabby.

10. Do you wear a watch? Yes and I am pretty sure I would die without one. I’ve been wearing a watch daily since like age 9 or 10. I don’t necessarily wear it because I have to know what time it is always, but it’s more of a security blanket for me. I feel very naked without it. My personal preference for watches is large men’s sized ones. I don’t wear a lot of other jewelry, this is my constant staple (aside from wedding/engagement rings and tiny earrings in ear piercings that never come out).

Hallo Mates!

As you might be aware of, American Apparel the clothing company recently released a line of nail lacquer. The company sent me one to review, but I really wanted to check out their other colors and formula a little more in depth, so I ordered six more. I am NOT disappointed in what I got, they are really great!

The formula on these is totally outstanding. They are really smooth, no cuticle drag, not too thick or thin and opaque (most of them) in two coats. I am really impressed, I wasn’t expecting this great of quality from a company that doesn’t specialize in cosmetics, to be honest.

Mouse

Mouse is a mouse taupe creme. Yes, this has the mushroom thing going on also, which is great. This one is a lot lighter than other mushroomy taupe’s we have recently seen. It’s not a dupe for anything I own, but very similar to Orly Country Club Khaki. Some other taupe’s you can compare this to are: Rimmel Steel Grey, Orly Country Club Khaki and OPI Over The Taupe. If you look at pics side by side (open two browser windows and compare) you will see they are all different. This was two coats.
