OPI Hong Kong Collection for Spring 2010 Swatches and Review – Part II
Good morning all!
Today I have the second half of OPI’s Hong Kong collection for spring 2010.
I mentioned in part I that I thought I would like that half better, and I was right. Kind of. This half actually surprised me. I really liked three of these a lot and the others didn’t “floor” me, but weren’t half bad either. Let me know what you think.
Pearl Of Wisdom is a sheer pink opalescent with shimmer. This is one of those ones that’s gorgeous in the bottle, but always extremely sheer. This was three coats here and it never really “built up” the color. I like that it has shimmer though, you don’t often see that with these pearl colors.
Panda-monium Pink is a very pale blue-based pink creme that has a tinge of lavender in it. I really like this one me, I think it looks very pretty. It’s not pastel either, in case you are wondering. This applied a little uneven and streaky but it after three coats it settled and covered nicely.
Lucky Lucky Lavender is a little darker than Panda-monium Pink, and a lot more lavender (though this pic looks pink). I also really liked this one. This has the same uneven and streaky issue as Panda-monium Pink, but again it was fine after three coats.
Chop-sticking To My Story is a medium burnt orange creme. I thought I was going to hate this, but it’s not bad. I don’t love it though. The formula was fantastic, super creamy, and it only needed two coats.
Meet Me On The Star Ferry is a plum brown shimmer. This is hard to describe and this picture doesn’t do it justice at all. The base is a plum brown color and the shimmer is green, pink, purple and gold, which you can’t really see here. It really is very unique and nice. The only color I can think of that comes close is Essie’s It’s Genuis, but they are definitely not dupes. This was three coats.

A Good Man-darin Is Hard To Find
A Good Man-darin Is Hard To Find is a bright (not not neon) tangerine orange creme. I wound up liking this one on me a lot, but not sure if I would ever really wear it. The formula was great, I only needed two coats.
Overall I am a lot more pleased with this whole collection than I thought I would be based on the promo pics. I thought the majority would be really boring colors we have seen a million times, but I was wrong! There are quite a few of these that I will definitely be wearing happily!
These should be available online and in stores soon (I think Feb 1st).
Which of these do you like?

I am diggin Chop-Sticking To My Story , but don’t know if I could pull it off.
Out of these I think I’m only tempted by Meet Me On The Star Ferry. I’m just a sucker for shimmer and purples!
I like Chop-Sticking To My Story, but not the rest of the ones here. Kind of a good thing that I don’t need the whole collection!

I like the first ones better too. These are meh.
Suprisingly, I like that Panda Pink color and the Chop-sticking Orange. The orange will be a lovely fall color too. Am I way off or is there a color in the South Beach Collection that is similar to A Good Man-darin Is Hard To Find?
OPI’s release date for these is February 3rd.
Oh no! I seriously want them ALL! You are so lucky to have them already! I cannot wait until their release date!!!! Thanks for all of the great swatches
I think Meet me on the Star Ferry is the only one that really catches me. I think I’ll need to see them in person to see how they work with my skintone. (from both parts of the collection.) OPI has been hit or miss for me recently.
This is a really good collection! Thank you for swatching these
So excited about this collection! Meet Me On The Star Ferry is gorgeous on you

This collection looks soooo great on you! I’m a little mystified, though, because taken as a whole, it doesn’t feel all that “spring” to me. More late summer/fall. I love the creme pink & lavender, but am wary of the streaky formula. I hate having to do three coats. I might get one of the oranges, depending on how it looks in person. The Star Ferry is intriguing…I wear this color a lot for lipstick. Am wondering how different Star Ferry is from Catherine the Grape. Oh, and I love the Pearl of Wisdom! I think it would look beautiful on top of the creme pink & lavender. It’s probably similar to other pearly OPI sheers I have, though. Thanks for the gorgeous swatches!
I am not huge on this collection at all…. I do like the lucky lucky lavendar though
Pearl Of Wisdom looks like a polish I bought from Le chateau when i was 16. I always wanted to find a dupe for it. I’ll check this out. I found plenty of sheers but not with shimmer in it. I also want Meet me on the star ferry, very pretty.
I want to get Panda-monium Pink, for the name lol

I’m not feeling this collection at all, nothing is spectacular or makes me think of Hong kong. Completely uninspired. Just a bunch a arbitrary colours with a naming theme. Y-A-W-N and sigh
Any thoughts on how Mandarin compares to OPI Cajun Shrimp?
Hi Jamie,
I don’t have Cajun Shrimp so sorry!
I also like the first one’s better, especially Jade Is The New Black.
This ones, I’m not really feeling them.
Oh well, keeps the money in the pocket

Thank you sooo much kelly. Am so excited about this collection. I am so lovin those orange creme colors am sooo going to get them. what etailers are selling these already? I love getting them before they hit the stores. Thanks much!
Hi lissette,
I spoke too soon. I had Googled OPI Hong Kong and thought I saw a couple e-tailers (who I hadn’t used) selling them but I was incorrect, sorry! But I think they should be available in the next 2 weeks or so.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m actually loving Lucky, Lucky Lavender and Panda-monium Pink. Seems to me like they would be ‘icy’ colors, and I can do icy.

Meet Me on the Star Ferry is the only one of these that I really want — this is the color that I thought Dim Sum Plum should be. I’m definitely going for several from the first group, though.
Thank you so much for posting these swatches, I’ll definitely be picking some of them up!

Pearl Of Wisdom is cute but nothing for me, because I don’t like sheer colors and my nails are too stained for them to look good on me.
I really like Meet Me On The Star Ferry.
Thank you for the swatches!

They look pretty on you, but I don’t think I need them- yay haha

Hmmm, I’m liking totally different ones than I thought I would originally. Kind of bummed that Panda-monium and Lucky Lucky Lavender look so similar. Maybe it’s the light but I don’t think I “need” both of those.
Out of this section, I like Lucky Lucky Lavender (sucker for lavender!) and Meet Me on the Star Ferry.
Great swatches!

Star Ferry for me. But what a boring bunch of polishes!
I really like Panda-monium. Are there any other pale pinks in this range that are more pigmented and apply more smoothly? Thanks!
Hi Jocelyn,
My experience with pale pinks like this is that they are generally all streaky at first and need two or three good coats to get them even.
thank you for the swatches!!!
