Illamasqua Snap Nail Varnish Swatches & Review
Good afternoon people of the world!
Recently, I was looking at Illamasqua’s line of varnish on Sephora’s website and realized I was missing Snap. Blasphemy, I thought as I quickly put it into my shopping cart. Seriously, I don’t know how this one managed to sneak by me, but she’s mine now and she’s a beaut!
The formula on this baby was a little tricky. She’s very thick and temperamental. You have to wait a few minutes after the first coat to apply a second or you will get bald patches and streaks. However, she’s so thick that two coats is all you’ll ever need. She took a wee bit longer to dry as well, but it’s well worth it!
Snap
Snap is a deep pewter metallic with silvery shimmer. You know I love me some grey’s and this is probably one of the best ones I have ever seen. It’s dark and vampy, it’s metallic, but also shimmery and it looks like molten metal. What more can a girl ask for? The wear on this puppy has been really great also. I managed to get three full days out of it, which for me isn’t all that common (especially for a metallic, they tend to get chippier sooner). I wore it over Illamasqua’s base coat and the top coat I used was Nubar Diamont. This is two coats.
If you like deep greys or colors that look like melted metal, this is for you!
I got this at Sephora and it was $14.00. I believe it’s part of their regular collection, so it’s not LE.
On another note…
Who else watches Damages? I have been hooked since it started and am SO excited season 3 is on now! Hmm will Patty Hewes “get hers” this season?

How does that shade compare to ChG – Awaken ?

It’s really not like it at all. Awaken is much lighter, more of a true metallic and more charcoal/blue rather than pewter.
YES! I love Damages too! Season 2 was a bit lackluster but it seems like Season 3 will be as good/better than Season 1. I can’t wait until they make the episodes available online so I can re-watch them, especially for the music!

Oh yay, a fellow Damages fan! I agree season 1 was better than 2. I hear season 3 is gonna have some great stuff in it though!
I like this colour, it seems pretty unique to me. Illamasqua seems to have some really pretty nail polish colours from what I’ve seen!

Love it! How does it compare to RGB Slate? At least it’s in the permanent collection, so if it’s really different I can wait for a sale.

I too had a few glitches with the application of this. It is not a friend to the fast-drying topcoat. Once I learned that, I was fine!
