Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear for Spring 2010 Swatches and Review

Happy Monday! If you are in the US you might have a vacation day from work, like me, whoo hoo!

Sally Hansen has some great new spring colors out in the Xtreme Wear line and I have some of them to show you. I didn’t get them all, but I got the coolest looking ones I saw. I think there were a few missing from the display, but I also saw a pink and a coral that didn’t seem all that interesting to me, so I didn’t purchase them.

The formula on these was really great. Aside from the wand on these being really long and a little harder to manager than a “normal” polish, I didn’t have any issues.

Say what?

You might notice that I now have watermarks across all my pictures. I am REALLY unhappy about this because in my opinion watermarks are ugly and ruin pictures. However because I am dealing with my pictures being stolen literally 1-3 times a week by various eBay sellers and other e-tailer websites, I feel I needed to try and slow the theft down. I’m so sick of emailing people constantly telling them they cannot just swipe a picture simply because it’s on the web and available. Everything belongs to someone! I know a lot of people still have their pictures stolen even with watermarks, so I don’t know how much of a difference this will make. If it makes no difference then I’m just gonna remove them, because I really do hate them.

Anyway, check out the cool colors below! These pics were taken with cloudy skies above, so they are actually a little brighter in real life.

Sally Hansen Wet Cement Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear for Spring 2010 Swatches and Review
Wet Cement

Wet Cement is a light cement grey creme. It looks exactly like the name describes in fact. I love grey polishes and I have a bazillion of them. None are dupes for this. This is much lighter than CND Asphalt, lighter than Barielle U-Concrete-me, lighter than OCC Dangerous and lighter than RBL Stormy (but not much). This was two coats.

Sally Hansen Pacific Blue Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear for Spring 2010 Swatches and Review
Pacific Blue

Pacific Blue is a very vivid cornflower blue creme. This is a blue that I do not own yet, therefore I am really pleased with it. Plus it’s just really cool. This was two coats.

Sally Hansen The Real Teal Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear for Spring 2010 Swatches and Review
The Real Teal

The Real Teal is a shimmery teal that leans on the green side. This is gorgeous people, just gorgeous. The application on this was particularly creamy and smooth. It might look like a dupe for Misa’s The Grass Is Greener On My Side, but that is a lot more green. China Glaze’s Turned Up Turquoise has more blue in it, so it’s not a dupe either. I did have a pic of that but the link is dead because it was on my old site, sorry! This was two coats.

Sally Hansen Virtual Violet Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear for Spring 2010 Swatches and Review
Virtual Violet

Virtual Violet is a shimmery iridescent violet. This has a duochrome effect and changes from violet to blue to pink depending on the light. It’s amazing, you MUST own this if you like violets! This was two coats.

Sally Hansen Purple Pizzazz Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear for Spring 2010 Swatches and Review
Purple Pizzazz

Purple Pizzazz is the star of the bunch, though I truly love each of these I have shown. But this, THIS is amazing! The polish is a deep royal purple jelly with pink and red flecks of glitter. I do not own anything like it and I think it’s launched itself up into the top 10 purples I own. This was three coats.

Overall I seriously love this collection. It’s rare that I find this many drugstore polishes in one collection that I like!

I found mine at my local Walgreen’s and they were around $3.29 each. You know Sally Hansen’s can be hard to find though since they don’t “evenly” distribute them across the country and stores, so good luck in finding them!

Which ones are you drawn to?

-VV

If the watermarks help, you should keep them. To be honest, I’m so used to images being watermarked that I didn’t even notice several other collection you posted had them, until you mentioned it in this post.

I’m so down with the Purple Pizazz! I picked it up about a month ago and at first thought I was going to be disappointed (that pesky first coat was pretty darn sheer), but by coat #2 I started to get that special tingly sensation of true, true love.
The color alone is enough, but the glitter (very Ruby Pumps-esque) has made it a definitely favorite.
Now I have to find Wet Cement!!
It’s a fantastic color on it’s own, but I can’t help thinking it would be a great base to make a Chanel Particuliere franken.
*Love your blog and fantastic swatches! Thanks!

The good thing about water marking is that everyone who ses the picture also sees the adress here… It could mean that more people discover your amazing site. Keep up the good work!

I am really drawn in by Pacific Blue and The Real Teal. Sally Hansen’s “Xtreme Wear” line is one that I am not personally familiar with. If you don’t mind, I have just a couple of questions:
What is the wear like on these polishes?
How many coats did you need for each?
Do they dry with a glossy finish on their own?

Thank you so much! I really appreciate all of the swatches that you do, as it is very helpful to me in deciding what polishes I actually want to buy before I order them online or go to the store.

      Hi Kelsey,

I always put how many coats the polish is in the post. :) As far as wear, I don’t know, I only wore them to swatch them so far. They do have a glossy like finish, but I always use a top coat anyway for better shine and to make the polish last longer.

I picked up Wet Cement and the Real Teal with a buy one get one half off sale at walgreens. Now I wish I had picked up purple pizazz and Pacific Blue! BTW, whomever asked about Scrangie, Grape Going by Sally Hansen (Insta Dri) is a VERY close match. Actually, I sort of wished I had seen it before I bought Scrangie. I love the Sally brushes and the Insta Dri polishes!

      Hi Virginia,

Scrangie really is different and much better, IMO. Grape Going! doesn’t have any green duochrome flash to it at all, Scrangie has much more depth to it. Also it’s got more shimmer in it as well and of course the formula is better because it’s RBL.

I’m digging Wet Cement and Pacific Blue. I’ll have to keep an eye out for them, they tend to sell these ones at Wal Mart here in Canada for about $3.00. My only complaints about SH usually is drying time. Otherwise I’ve had some great polishes from them!

    Hi Kelly,

That stinks that people steal the pics that you spend so much time doing for us. If it’s not more work for you, I would keep that watermark. Hopefully that will deter the offenders.

I like these. I just wish Sally Hansen polishes were cheaper. Depending on which SH line, they range from $6-8. That is too much for drugstore polish. I may still wind up getting a couple, though. I’d love to find The Real Teal, particularly. Kelly, does Virtual Violet look similar to RBL Scrangie? Thanks for the swatches!

Pizzazz is a complete knock-out. I’d have them all except for VV. Luckily I can’t get them in the UK and I need Redwood and Mendocino first (yes, your very own shades) before I buy anything else. And I’m thinking Union Square could be a future classic….

I picked up the one in Wet Cement, and I think it’s just gorgeous. But when I went back to my Walgreen’s to get more, I didn’t see the new ones anymore. :( I guess the Caribbean Coral and Going Green in my Walgreen’s Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear racks were strays along with Wet Cement. I’m certainly hoping my Walgreen’s will put up a display, hopefully soon.
