Chanel Vendetta – Spring 2009

Chanel released their Limited Edition Spring 2009 polish collection recently which included the fabulous color, Vendetta. As with most of their LE’s, this one was talked about a lot online before it was released, then sold very quickly once it was released. I bought this the same time I bought the two colors from their Moscow collection and I have to say, I am much more happy spending $20 per bottle rather than $30 per bottle. Still $20 is outrageous and I really wish they would lower their prices. Especially since Chanel doesn’t last any longer on me than Wet n’ Wild (and no, I am not exaggerating, all polishes chip on me 24-48 hours after I put them on, with the exception of Zoya with their Color-Lock System, because I wash my hands 8 million times a day). Vendetta

Very vampy, no? Vendetta is a super deep almost blackened grape purple with lots of fine shimmery flecks that make it super special in the sun. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t seem to get the flecks to show great in the photos, but you can kind of see some pink and blue in there. For a second I thought this was going to be a dupe for a Carolyn New York called Howard Beach but I was wrong. Howard Beach turned out to be much darker and more blackened. Very pretty but worth $20.00? Hmmm I’m not so sure.

Carolyn New York Holiday 2008

Happy New Year! 2009 is off to a slightly backwards start here at Vampy Varnish. I am bringing you Carolyn New York’s Holiday 2008 Collection. These were supposed to come out on Dec 1st on their website, but didn’t actually show up until mid December. By the time I received and swatched them, it was after Christmas already. Oh well, I liked most of them anyway and for the most part these colors seem more like a Spring or Fall collection rather than Holiday (except for the red one). All pics taken with my sexy new camera, in the sun with no top coat.

Tinsel Town
Tinsel Town was a color I knew immediately was not going to work on my skin. It’s just too yellow for me, which gives me that wonderful jaundice look I am oh so fond of. Though it doesn’t look great on me, I did like the color, which is a shimmery yellow gold which almost looks foil-y. This is two coats.
