Orly Metal Chic Metallic Matte Collection Swatches and Review

Happy New Years Eve folks!

Orly has released a collection of metallic matte polishes called Metal Chic. These are all metallic, matte and yet still packed with glitter and shimmer.

The formula on these was fabulous. It took just two coats to get them opaque, they applied evenly and smooth and dried quickly. I’ll wager they look amazing with a top coat on also, but I haven’t yet tried that. Check them out below.

Orly Solid Gold
Solid Gold

Solid Gold is a burnt gold color filled with orange, green and gold shimmer. I really like this one, I think it’s really unique looking and flattering on me.

Orly Glam Rock
Glam Rock

Glam Rock is a copper/bronze color with lots of orange and gold shimmer. Also really pretty, but I don’t think it suits me as much as Solid Gold does.

Orly Iron Butterfly
Iron Butterfly

Iron Butterfly (reminds me of the band Iron Butterfly who famously sang “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” which was supposed to be “In The Garden Of Eden”, but they were drunk when they recorded it, so it wound up being slurred. I digress…) is a black color with silver shimmer. I love it, it’s my favorite of these. It is unique to other black mattes I already own, which makes it even more special.

Overall I think this is a fabulous little collection, and definitely worth owning if you like mattes.

You can find these online at e-tailers already.

Time to parrrrrtayyyyyy!

I hope whatever you find yourself doing tonight, it’s enjoyable! Have fun and be safe! See you in 2010!

Hey! Love your blog :) Just wanted to point out that Iron Butterfly reminds me A LOT of OPI’s Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees Suede polish! It’s beautiful…

anyway, I’m glad you posted swatches, cause I was thinking about buying the gold one….now I want all of them!

      Hi Heather,

Yep, the full length is 17 minutes, and I’ve heard it a ton of times on the radio. :)

Aw man, I was trying to pass these up. I was so good at avoiding them at Sallys. Maybe I’ll have to pick up at least Iron Butterfly. Dangit!

I bought Iron Butterfly just for the name alone. I was a big fan of this band. I saw them in concert twice. Yep, I’m that old. Loved all of that so called “hippie” music. Now I need some Grateful Dead polish!
