Orgasm Cosmetics Nail Lacquer Swatches and Review

Dzien Dobry! (Good morning in Polish. Um and that’s Polish the country, not Polish as in nail polish, LOL!)

I have some nail polishes to show you today that I have had sitting around waiting to be swatched for about 5-6 months. They are from the company Orgasm Cosmetics. Yeah I know. Normally names like that don’t really bother me, but after I spoke with the owner when I needed to call them for something, I kinda changed my mind. At first I thought oh ok Orgasm Cosmetics, they are trying to get people’s attention with a scintillating name, whatever. But then after that phone call, I felt more like the some of the color names were made out of pure sleaziness or desperation to be different. I don’t know I could be wrong, but that’s MY take on it.

I was only calling in to check on an order that I had placed for my buddy Helen (of Helen & Sheenie’s Nice Things) because I never got confirmation, but was charged immediately and it had been weeks. I got ahold of the owner when I called (but not when I had emailed a couple times) and he started quizzing me on really weird things. He was asking how I liked the names (in what I felt was a slimy way) and what did I think about the colors, etc. He never asked if I had a few minutes to chat, which irked me because I was at work (in a cube) and this wasn’t meant to be more than a 2 minute call. But he went on and on talking about some idea they had for combining polish with lipstick, and what did I think about that, etc. The whole thing just left me feeling really, how shall I say, uninspired! Then I had almost no desire to swatch the colors.

But I did finally. A few are truly amazing colors, the names be damned (and there are worse ones on the site, trust me…)!

The formula was pretty decent on all of them, I didn’t run into any issues to speak of. Check them out.

Orgasm Not Now Not Ever!
Not Now, Not Ever!

Not Now, Not Ever! is a very pale beige/gold shimmery frost. This was very sheer and a tiny bit streaky but was better after three coats.

Orgasm Hidden Agenda
Hidden Agenda

Hidden Agenda is close to Not Now, Not Ever! but has more taupe in it. I liked this better on me but still didn’t “wow” me. This was three coats.

Orgasm Don't Ask!
Don’t Ask!

Don’t Ask! is hard to describe, it’s like a gold mixed with a lot of olive green and lots of multi-colored shimmer. It’s not as nice on me as I had hoped it would be. I think the gold was too strong and yellow for my skin tone. This was three coats.

Orgasm Trust Me
Trust Me

Trust Me is a nice bold true blue cream. This is great on fair skin especially, and I liked it. This was two coats.

Orgasm I Dare You!
I Dare You

I Dare You is a grass green cream on the cool side. Loved this also, very pretty. This was two coats.

Orgasm Dripping Wet
Dripping Wet

Dripping Wet (the worst name of them all) is a stunning lit-from-within deep purple shimmer. The shimmer is gold, blue and pink and in the sunlight this baby comes alive! LOVE it. This was two coats.

Orgasm Indecent Proposal
Indecent Proposal

Indecent Proposal is another stunner. This is a deep, vampy, blackened reddish/purple with gads of red and gold shimmer. Again in the sun this one is fabulous. This was two coats.

One thing to note, when you visit their website here, the color swatches they have are not accurate at all. So know that if you order something based on those swatches, you might be winging it, as I did with the first two! They are big three-free and cost $6.00 each.

So what do you guys think about both the names and colors?

  • December 3, 2009

Names are ridiculous. I like the last 2 vampy ones quite a lot. The blue and green are good. The first 3? Yukky.

    • December 3, 2009

      Hi Jen,

The last are are worth it I think :)

  • December 3, 2009

The colors are very nice. Except the first two. I checked out the website and was looking at the names. I didn’t think any of them were overall too racy, however, I didn’t think they were that original or clever either. By the looks of the last four colors though, there could be some other really amazing colors in their collection. In my opinion though, if the owner of the company gives you a bad feeling it’s probably not worth supporting his company by buying his products.

      Hi Kristina,

I’m not a huge fan of “Barely Legal” just reminds me of that sleazy Girls Gone Wild dude!

  • December 3, 2009

i was just plotting an order myself! I was looking at their website earlier today. Of the ones you swatched I would get Don’t Ask, Dripping Wet and maybe Indecent Proposal. The names are fine I guess since that is the idea; to have a theme or whatever. But I agree with the sleazy phone call. That would make me uncomfortable. And I hear they ship in a package that boldly states “Your Orgasm Cosmetics are here!” I live in an apartment in my boyfriends parents house! They see my packages frequently! I won’t order for that alone! I’ll have to have it shipped to my friends apartment if at all.
And yes, dripping wet is really not a great name! But wait until you see the names of some naughty colors I have to post!!!

      Hi Elaine,

Ooh I can’t wait to see what you’ve got in store then!

  • December 3, 2009

So they have lousy business practices AND an owner who does CS with only one hand on the keyboard? SOUNDS LIKE FUN LET’S ALL SHOP THERE.

    • December 3, 2009

      Hi Sharon,

  • December 3, 2009

I love the green one. Green polishes are awesome!!

    • December 3, 2009

      Hi Laura,

It is a great clean bright green I like it a lot. :)

  • December 3, 2009

I live with two guys who make fun of my nail polish love. This would be added fuel.

That being said, I don’t really care. :)

Some of the colors are great, but I agree with most of your readers… so many of them are just meh.

      Hi Jamie@Denim Debutante,

Yes I would imagine that those guys would have a field day with the names, haha.

  • December 3, 2009

GORGEOUS colours. That blue, green and, indiecent proposal are just GORGEOUS! Wow, I will be visiting that site!

Once again my dear, great post!

    • December 3, 2009

      Hi MissDeeCanada,

      Thank you!

  • December 3, 2009

I really don’t like the first two colors, but I’m not one for pale colors anyway. The rest of the colors are great, especially the sparkly purple and sparkly red! I don’t think the names are really that bad. The only one that seems kind of vulgar is Dripping Wet, but that’s only because the name Orgasm puts your mind in a dirty place. The names .by themselves. aren’t that bad though, except for the fact that they have nothing to do with the colors.

      Hi Meghan,

I agree that most of the ones I posted aren’t that bad. But there are worse ones on their site like Barely Legal and Coming Soon! Yuck.

  • December 3, 2009

I’m kind of upset where Orgasm Cosmetics is concerned. I’d been contacted by the company in March 2009 to try out some of their products and review them, and I gave them my opinion on the website, where to sell etc, and they kept saying they’d send me some polish to try, but it never happened. Kind of weird. Last time I contacted them was in June but I never heard back.

That said, I like Don’t Ask!, Dripping Wet and Indecent Proposal.

I’m probably not going to order though, because I’d be worried about not receiving my order.

      Hi Phyrra,

Why does that not surprise me? The customer service is definitely shady. I got the feeling that the guy works out of his home or something, it just felt so unprofessional and disorganized to me. I totally understand why you wouldn’t want to order them because you might not ever get them or hear back!

  • December 3, 2009

I went to the site and the names are gross, and sooo unnecessary?! However, I do love “dripping wet” and “i dare you” as a color, so cute, but the names and the website have got to go!

    • December 3, 2009

      Hi Jackie,

Yes unnecessary is a good for for it!

  • December 3, 2009

    Hi Kelly:

I do love the colors and yes the names are confusing. I love , “don’t ask” Trust me (lovely shade of sky blue), “I dare you amazing shade of green” “Dripping Wet” and I wonder how close to Illamasqua Baptiste Nail Varnish is Indecent Proposal?

Overall, what I love about their web site is the nail varnish colors are set to the right and left hand side. The model’s puting on the sandal is right in the middle of the names. As you move your mouse over the color, her fingernails and toenails change to that color. If you click on a particular shade it brings you to another screen with the nail varnish technical info and price. OPI, Essie and Sally Hansen have similar virtual models to show you their polish colors on real models. At $6 a bottle it’s a nice price to pay for a polish.

actually i had a really good experience with their customer service. i placed an order and it arrived within 4 days. granted it is winging its way from north carolina (where my good friend ships my US polish purchases to me) to london i will definitely write it up on my own blog about my opinions. scrangie said on her blog that the colour swatches on the website were incredibly inaccurate too…which is a bummer since that’s how i decide which ones i want!

  • December 3, 2009

Actually, I had a very similar experience with their customer service and the person I talked to. It took nearly a month for the polishes to reach me… and this was after at least four calls to them. The entire experience left a horrible taste in my mouth and most of the polishes I ordered from them are still in my untrieds box.

I’m dying for that green but I can not have a package show up saying ‘Your orgasm is here!’ Aside from the sleazy names, which I don’t mind if the colors rock, the box is the whole reason I haven’t ordered from them yet (or ever?) Wonder if they’d ship in an unmarked box if I asked nicely =)

  • December 3, 2009

    Hi Kelly,

I like the Dripping wet, and indecent proposal.

The way the customer service was to you kind of creeps me out. I am not offended by the names, but think it was unnecessary.

  • December 4, 2009

Hate the names, but love Dripping wet and Indecent proposal. :)

  • December 4, 2009

Too bad the company rep seemed creep-ola, but I do like Don’t Ask and Dripping Wet the best. I wonder who did come up with these names and why? They do seem, risque'(?)….I still like the colors though.

  • December 4, 2009

I protest this company on principal alone. Dont get me wrong, I like cheeky names – im prob not the only girl who’s purchased an OPI polish for the name alone – but come on. This company seems more sleezy than cheeky. More perverted than necessary, or allowed. Had you reached a woman when you called i might not be so miffed, but an overly suggestive perv? Please. It makes me feel dirty, and objectified. Like the owner of this company is some womanizer who thinks we are only here for his pleasure. Not cool. Personally, i’d rather shell out my dough to a company that makes women feel impowered, not degraded.

  • December 4, 2009

I still feel totally responsible for your ordeal :( Ick!
So grubby! Love the polishes, thankyou again. Hate the tackiness of the CS.

Indecent Proposal reminds me of OPI Midnight In Moscow. Lovely.

    • December 4, 2009

      Hi Helen,

You are not responsible at all. Plus I would rather know what I am dealing with anyway, and now we do. :)

  • December 4, 2009

This is my first time posting and although I’ve been reading and enjoying your blog (a bunch) for awhile, it’s too bad that I finally got up the courage to join the conversation because of this!
“Risque” names are fine…the icky feeling I’m getting is in response to names like “Hidden Agenda” and “Trust Me”: 2 names that, especially together & along with the others, have creepy sort of violent undertones. What the hell?? Most of the consumers of nail polish are women…very interesting marketing technique.
    Not shocking, just gross.

  • December 6, 2009

I don’t care for the names at all. I’m not a prude by any means but I think these are just for titillation sake. I love the green but I won’t order from them because of the bad service I’m reading about.

  • December 6, 2009

Way too many polish brands out there to give $ to a company that can’t ship right away and provide good customer service. Add in clueless marketing (you are marketing to women buddy! Don’t be pervy! Put up accurate swatches, it’s not hard!) and this company is a Fail. It’s interesting that the owner asked your opinion when you called, and Phyrra’s opinion, per her post above, but then he ignored Phyrra afterwards & didn’t follow through? Didn’t thank her for her suggestions, or send the polish for her to review? Really, I’m surprised any of your readers would consider ordering from them after you said that you waited weeks for an order that was charged immediately, and there was no order confirmation. Thanks for your reviews, though, and your photos are really well done.

  • December 6, 2009

I have Indecent Proposal..I LOVE it..!

  • December 6, 2009

I called them too a few times, Kelly…but I didn’t have the gross experience you had Bev was very nice..and sent me an extra polish b/c of the high S+H…the guy(I think his name was Michael) seemed okay too..

  • December 6, 2009

Bev told me that they’re a warehouse and that Orgasm Cosmetics are just one of the things that they sell. I found her a pleasure to deal with, she sent me swatches when I requested them..even tho she never done that b/f..sent me an extra polish b/c of the high S+H…and followed up with emails. And my order came pretty quickly(Unlike Carolyn New York). Michael was okay too…meaning he was nice enought and wasn’t “pervy”. I’m sorry your experince was so bad, Kelly..

  • December 11, 2009

The colours are nice but the names arent.. I also dislike the name of the company, and i’m not a prude! It seems that they kinda copied it from NARS.
