Beetle Bailey

Beetle Beetle Bailey

Isn’t this beetle pretty? I’m not into bugs, in fact I find 99.9% of them creepy, especially up close, but this one has such nice colors! I took this pic at the San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers. I think I want a nail polish the color of that green, haha!

Sally Hansen Special Edition Glitter Nail Polish Swatches and Review

Edit: It has since been discovered that this collection isn’t new (according to a few readers) but old, and possibly from the 90′s! That does explain a lot, LOL. Thanks all!

Dobri ranok (good morning in Ukrainian)!

Sally Hansen released some special edition glitters recently, and one of my readers was nice enough to send them to me! I never would have found these myself because none of the drug stores around me are that great with their Sally Hansen updating.

A word about the formula. It isn’t the best. That’s actually being very generous, it’s pretty awful. Only one of them, Hologem which has a clear base, wasn’t a hot streaky mess. They were very watery, and just plain icky. On two of them the glitter settled to the bottom of the polish so it wasn’t very prominent. These just felt like super cheap rush colors to me somehow. Check them out and judge for yourself.

Hologem is a clear base with silver holographic glitter. This was the only one I didn’t have issues with. This was two coats.

China Glaze Out On Safari Swatches

Happy weekend!

Today I have a color that was my #1 lemming for over a year, China Glaze Out On Safari. I couldn’t find this long discontinued color anywhere online, not even on eBay for an insane amount of money. But one day not too long ago, I was looking at nail pics on Flickr, and came across a swatch of it on Lextard’s photostream. I emailed her to ask her where she got it to see if perhaps that seller had another one. She replied back (she happened to be a reader of my blog!) and said she would send me hers because she didn’t particularly love it, and had only used it for a swatch once. I was shocked and amazed that someone would be that generous! I tried talking her out of it (not THAT hard), but she insisted. icon smile China Glaze Out On Safari Swatches

When the package came, I was only expecting Out On Safari, and I was super duper excited about it. But she sent me over twenty-five polishes!! So amazing!

This past weekend I finally was caught up enough on seasonal collections to actually fully swatch this one, and it’s everything I expected and more. But it didn’t start out that way. With the first two coats I was a little underwhelmed and kinda bummed out that maybe my fantasy outlived reality. But by the third coat the color got so opaque and deep, I fell in love, and it wound up being exactly as I had imagined. Check it out!

Even if you don’t have an obsession with khaki/olive greens like I do, you must like this, right? For me it’s just a perfect combination of green, khaki and shimmer. And it suits my skin tone perfectly as well. This has now taken over as my #1 favorite green, as I was hoping it would!Â

Borghese Allegra Swatches & Review from Guest Blogger Lacquer Laine

Morning all!

Today I have a guest post from blogger Lacquer Laine. Check out her swatches and review!

You know those nail polishes you see in the drugstore with the exotic name, interesting trapezoidal bottle, and a hefty price tag? Borghese? I have never, ever bought one! You know why? I haven’t because I have never, ever been impressed by any of the colors. There are browns and whites, pinks and reds, and none of them are pretty or unique enough to spend $9 a bottle. Until now! Borghese has released some nail polish sets for the holidays, and they are loaded with glitter and shimmer, and they are really pretty! The only difference is that they are mini bottles (0.14 oz.). These polishes have a nice smooth formula, and all swatches were done in two coats.

The set we will be looking at today is called “Allegra”. The individual polishes however, do not have names.

This is a very yellow gold with gold glitter. The glitter is a more toned down gold then the base, and I really enjoy the two shades together. It gives more depth. The glitter is not very dense. It’s not a “super-glitter” like the new Zoya glitters. That makes for easy removal.
