Quick VV Update

Under Construction

Hi VV Aficianados!

I just wanted to drop a quick line to let you know that because of all you, my wonderful fans, VV will be under construction for a little bit. Yep, I’m gettin’ so much traffic that GoDaddy is having a hard time keeping my site running smoothly! I will be switching to another larger server so that (hopefully) I won’t be having “Forbidden 403″ errors or slow load times anymore!

You will see regular postings again starting Monday, so have a fabulous Thanksgiving holiday, or if you aren’t in the States, a fabulous end of week/weekend!

Weekly Poll

VV Fall Poll Image

1. How has your week been so far? Pretty decent. Especially now because I’m off work until Monday!

2. What’s on your nails? I’m currently wearing Nubar Chocolate Caramel, but might change it out today to some fabulous, dark, shimmery brown…

3. What are you doing for Thanksgiving, if anything?  My in-laws are here and my mother-in-law is cooking a fabulous southern turkey feast!

4. What’s your favorite fall/winter polish so far? This is extremely hard, but I am going to say…wait for it…Dashing Diva Astor Place! It’s unusual, unique, chic, gorgeous, and applies like a dream!

5. Who is your favorite band (you must pick only one!)? I think I must say Metallica, though I haven’t liked anything they have done since after the Black album in 1991. I discovered them at age thirteen, and their music pretty much defines my whole life from that age to about nineteen. They are a part of my youth, and to this day I hear certain songs and can remember an exact moment from long ago.

6. If you could transport to anywhere right this minute, where would you go? Italy in the summer-time.

7. What’s your favorite candy bar? Milky Way Dark.

8. How old were you when you started wearing makeup? Thirteen for regular makeup probably eleven for nail polish.

9. Have you ever been to San Francisco? Of course, I live across the bay from it!

10. What’s the most $$ you ever spent on one makeup item? You know I’m not really sure to be honest. The most I spent on a nail polish was about $45 on an old discontinued China Glaze (am I proud of this debacle? Nnoooooo). I think the most on any other item of makeup (excluding perfume) would have to be my Urban Decay Book of Shadows II shadow palette. I have never bought anything from Chanel other than nail polish, and I try to stay away from those super high end brands like Dior (except for their mascara and Skinflash Radiance pen), Yves St. Laurent (except for lip gloss), Givenchy and Guerlain. I just know if I start, I’ll never go back, LOL! Plus I love MAC, Illamasqua, Urban Decay and Benefit so much that they pretty much satisfy most of my makeup needs.

The Most Spectacular Bridge in the US of A

GG Bridge

I heart the Golden Gate Bridge. It’s kinda funny, because I have pretty much always taken it for granted until recently.

I grew up in Berkeley and had a perfect view of it (that is unless it was covered with fog which is was about 75% of the time) until I moved from that house at age 23. It was just something that was always there, and I never really thought about it. But last summer when I was in London, we had family come out from the south to house sit. One of them had never been to the Bay Area, and in fact had only been to California (L.A.) once. She was totally excited and awe-struck by the bridge, and I realized then that it really was something spectacular. It was exactly like when I first saw the London Bridge or Tower of London, or hell lets be honest, ANYTHING in London!

She’s a beaut. :)

Baby Goats

Baby Goats

Awwww baby goats! I took this pic last summer when I went up to Calistoga, which is in wine country. We were actually there to see the Old Faithful Geyser, but they also had a petting zoo.

Disclaimer: I am not a fan of zoo’s, circuses or animals being kept in captivity for human amusement. In fact I haven’t visited a zoo in 20 years (except in Seattle when I was on vacation with a friend and she forced me) and I will not go to Marine World amusement park here either because they now have animals there. But these were there, and so I took a picture because they were so sweet (and stinky).

Pacific Heights Garden

Pacific Heights Flowers

Isn’t this gorgeous? This was taken last summer when I went to Pacific Heights in SF. In case you aren’t from around here, Pacific Heights is a really ritzy area in the hills of SF. This is where a lot of old money lives and famous people live/have lived, such as: Kirk Hammett (Metallica), Lars Ulrich (Metallica), Danielle Steel, Don Johnson, Sharon Stone, Barry Zito, Nicolas Cage, Frances Ford Coppola, Nancy Pelosi (Speaker of the United States House of Representatives) and Diane Feinstein (US Senator).
