You know I have never read the book! Just saw the movie. I should get a copy of this book and actually read it! Im sure its better then the movie for sure!
Yep, the book is good. The movie pretty much follows the book though. The author is female, and was only 17 when she wrote it!

I cannot believe it! I stole my sister’s copy & read it when I was in jr. high in 1975. Then it got passed around to all my little jr hi girlfriends. Can’t remember what happened to that copy. Should find it in hardback. I only buy hardback of my favorite books.
Such a great book…it was required reading in my 8th grade English class (wow, 10 years now). It’s probably one of the few books I remember seeing guys being psyched to read.

Oh God, I cry everytime I read two particular passages in this book. I love this book (I own the movie too but it’s the full novel edition which means I cried even MORE). I’m such a crybaby when it comes to books and movies. I become attached to particular characters and then when they die (since I mainly love the underdogs, like Johnny), I bawl.
