Hard Candy Nail Polish Swatches and Review
Happy Friday afternoon folks!
I am super excited to show you the COMEBACK of a cosmetics line from years past. It’s Hard Candy. Yep, they have returned only this time, they are selling at Walmart and everything is between $5-6 bucks! Amazingly inexpensive.
Now I will admit, I don’t think I ever owned any of the original Hard Candy nail polish. I did own some eye makeup, but don’t remember having the polish. I remember it being mostly light pinks, blues and pastels, and I was never really into those colors much. But now they do have some darker super cool ones which I bought so I could show you.
The formula on these is pretty good. Some of them were a bit thick so be careful to apply lightly and wait in-between coats. Other than that, I had zero application issues.
Frenzy is a bright sky blue creme. Totally vivid and gorgeous. This was one of the ones that was a little thick so be forewarned. You can see it kinda globbed on my middle finger because I was rushed. You could get away with one coat with this one, but I used two here.
Sweet P is a sheer polish with lime (or pea) green micro glitter. I can’t even begin to image how cool this would look layered over another green! This was two coats.
Hot Pants is a very light purple color with holographic micro glitter and larger hexagon shaped glitter. Really cool on it’s own, but would rock out over something else as well. This was two coats.
Lava is a hot, bright, tomato red packed with gold micro glitter. I seriously love this, even though I don’t wear this kind of red often. This is seems like a very appropriate holiday color. This was super opaque also, I used two coats.
Mr. Wrong is a silvery purple packed with gold and purple micro glitter. This one is simply stunning I don’t have anything else that looks like it. It reminds me a little of Sally Hansen’s Opulent Cloud but a more purple, glittery version. This would be a great Mardi Gras color! This was two coats.
Mr. Right is a deep sapphire blue shimmer. This has that lit from within effect that I love. Though I know there are other colors like this one, I still love it. This was two coats.
Envy is a dark jade green shimmer. This one is RIDICULOUS. And I mean that in a good way. This is an insanely gorgeous green, one of my favorites ever now. It’s very, very similar to Deborah Lippmann’s Don’t Tell Mama, but that one may have a wee bit more blue in it. This would be a great inexpensive way to get the same kind of color. This was two coats.
You can find Hard Candy at your local Walmart now, and these were all $5.00 each!
What do you think, are you sold on the new line? What colors did you have from the old line that you would love to see come back?

Hi TacoDoom,
Those all sound awesome, I hope they bring them back!
Okay, I was a HUGE fan of the Hard Candy polishes in early 2000 and am disappointed that I don’t see “Haze” which was a really cool metallic light purple! Who knows, maybe they will release it later? Mr. Wrong & Hot Pants are cool…
Hi Denielle,
I didn’t get all of them, there were probably 8-10 more, but I don’t remember a metallic one.
Okay so I’m getting senile because it was in the mid to late 1990′s but I digress. It was still AWESOME polish! No chipping or bubbling, didn’t have to apply more than 2 coats. Sex Pistol was another favorite. I think I still have some bottles, somewhere.
I have Envy but haven’t worn it yet. After seeing this, I NEED to get on that!! Love it.
Hi Laura,
Um yes you do its soooo amazing!
They all look gorgeous! I hope they’re available over here (uk) at some point. Have you got Barry M’s Racing Green? That’s quite similar to Envy and I think you’d like it

Hi glittermillie,
I hope you guys get them too! I do have Barry M British Racing Green actually. It’s similar but this is more jade than emerald I think from off the top of my head. Totally gorgeous,
Hi Kelly,
I love Mr, Wrong, Mr. Right and I reallllly love Envy.
I hope I can find these at my local Walmart.
Thanks so much.
I have heard that some of their products are vegan and they don’t do animal testing. Does anyone know if this is true or have a list of their vegan products? The site seems to always say under construction. I may be crazy but I think you should try Sweet Pea over Envy.
They all look fun but I think my favorites are Sweet Pea, Hot Pants and Mr. Wrong.
.-= awesomevegan´s last blog ..Coming Soon: Zoya!!! =-.
Hi awesomevegan,
You know I am not sure about that, it didn’t say on the packaging and as you said the website isn’t up…
I think I just added another errand to run tomorrow – Envy and Mr. Wrong will be mine!
Hi TropicalChrome,
You’ll love ‘em they are so pretty and the quality is really nice also.
Mr. Right is looking pretty darn goooood. ha, ha
Hi Denny,
Mr. Right can’t be wrong! LOL!
Thanks, VV. I will have to keep looking into them. Hopefully with the Walmart lauch the site will go up soon. I hope they are vegan because they are beautiful!
