Dashing Diva Manhattan Collection for Fall 2009

EDIT: I was just told that the nails Megan Fox is wearing on the Cosmo cover below isn’t Dashing Diva Astor Place but rather Orly Mirror, Mirror. Sorry for the error!

Morning everyone!

Dashing Diva has come out with five new colors for fall in their Manhattan Collection line. I have three of them to show you today.

I love Dashing Diva, I have reviewed a lot of their polishes in the past, which you can see here, and find them to be extremely nice. Their colors are usually very original, the formula is fantastic and at $8.00 each, they are pretty reasonably priced as well.

Dashing Diva Astor Place Dashing Diva Manhattan Collection for Fall 2009
Astor Place

Astor Place is a dove grey creme with a hint of lavender. This color is beyond amazing. You don’t think much of it in the bottle, but when it’s on, it’s totally unbelievably cool. This is on the verge of being mushroomy, which is probably why I like it. Hell, I was even sold on this color despite the fact that Megan Fox likes it and is wearing it on the October edition of Cosmo! This was three coats for maximum opacity.

Megan Fox Dashing Diva Manhattan Collection for Fall 2009
Pretty, with good nail polish taste, but can she act?

Dashing DIva Grand Cebtral Station Dashing Diva Manhattan Collection for Fall 2009
Grand Central Station

Grand Central Station is a dark forest green creme. This is another total stunner that I LOVE in this set. It’s not so dark as to look black, it most definitely looks green. I think this is the green a lot of you have been wanting. So many dark greens have come out recently that I loved, but a lot of them do tend to look black or almost black indoors. This was two coats.

Dashing Diva Jazz Nights Dashing Diva Manhattan Collection for Fall 2009
Jazz Nights

Jazz Nights is a ruby red glitter. This is absolutely packed with red and silver glitter. It’s SO perfect for the holidays I don’t know what could be better really. When it’s dried it comes off super matte, so you will definitely need a top coat to shine it up. It is also a little “gritty” without a top coat. This was two coats.

The other two colors not shown are:
Bryant Park –  light brown and copper shimmer
Fashion District – a soft gold with slight shimmer

Overall I am extremely pleased with these, I think they got the holidays down to a tee with these unique, pretty colors.

If you are interested in these you can find them on their website here and they are $8.00 each.

It’s the weekend!

So people, what are your weekend plans? Today I am gonna hit up Target and the Container Store to see what goodies they might have. I am in desperate need for a better storage solution for all my makeup!

    These are nice!
I’m heading to Palo Alto for the great glass pumpkin patch. I went last year and it’s so fun to see a giant multicolored patch of pumpkins. The glass ones also never go bad :)

    • Hi Allegra,

I have never heard of that! Is it all hand blown glass pumpkins or something? I want to go to Half Moon Bay this year to check out the pumpkin patch, but there is always so much traffic!

It’s all handblown glass pumpkins made by local artists. You should totally check it out. Www.greatglasspumpkinpatch.com
I want to make to Half Moon Bay, but you’re right about the traffic being horrendous!

I love Astor Place and Grand Central Station. I may have to put in an order. What’s up with their site? I can only seem to locate a handful of colors.

    • Hi Paula,

Yeah I don’t know, I tried it last night also and it only showed a few colors. Maybe try again later, they could be having technical issues…

Great swatches! But I thought it said in the Cosmo Megan Fox was wearing Mirror Mirror from Orly?

  • How close is Grand Central Station to Nars’ Zulu?

I don’t know what’s going on with their site either. You have to individually search the nail polish by name or SKU#.

    • Hi Kam,

I have never seen Nars Zulu in person so I don’t know for sure. I know that Zulu is a jelly and this isn’t.

I really need Grand Central Station. That is the perfect deep green. JazzNights is gorgeous. Love Astor Place also, really nice grey.

    • Hi Lucy,

You totally need Astor Place. I think it’s my fav light grey now, it’s amazing!

Grand Central Station instantly reminded me of RBL’s Orbis Non Sufficit. I can see the difference between the two, but I think they’re similar enough to warrant not owning both. (GCS is more green whereas ONS is more dusty/grey/muted.)

    • Hi Nadine,

Exactly, you hit the nail on the head with the differences.
