Sinful Colors Halloween 2009 Collection Swatches and Review

Happy Friday!

One day until Halloween! I am excited about our “haunted garage” we’re doing this year. I haven’t yet done a trial run of my makeup though, so I’m kinda nervous it’s going to turn out like crap. Oh well, at least it will be dark icon wink Sinful Colors Halloween 2009 Collection Swatches and Review

Today I’ve got the Sinful Colors Halloween collection for 2009. Well I have all except the basic black one, because we all know what black looks like by now.

I have only reviewed two Sinful Colors polishes in the past because I had a horrible experience once. About a year ago I tried out the San Francisco color, and used CND’s Stickey base coat and then either Seche Vite or Poshe top coat. The polish turned sticky, weird, and never, ever dried! I mean not at all. It was so bizarre! That combo did not work, so I never really tried any of their stuff since then. But I saw these, and had to get ‘em. Peep ‘em out!

Let Me Go

Let Me Go is a very pale blue/pink/lavender/green opalescent pearl polish. I thought this was going to be super, duper cool when I saw it in the bottle, but it’ so sheer it’s just kinda meh for me. This was three coats.

Milani Black Magic Collection Swatches and Review

Good morning! Halloween is only two days away, do you know what you will be yet?

Milani released a collection for Halloween this year called Black Magic. It’s six super cool glittery colors, but sadly, I only have five. I hunted down the 6th a few places, but no one had it. So I am missing Whimsical (a blackened purple glitter) in this review, sorry!

This is my first ever experience with Milani, and I am actually very pleased with the formula. These are pretty thin and watery, but build up nicely after three coats. Even though they are thin, they don’t run all over, so where you put them is where they stay. Nothing worse than runny polish, argh!

I think I always stayed away from Milani in the past because the bottles, in my opinion, are hideous. They are soooo early 80′s to me with the gold lettering and the font, and I am normally very drawn to aesthetically pleasing packaging. BUT these colors were so cool looking I got them anyway, and I’m happy. Check them out.

Spellbinding

Spellbinding is a black with red glitter. I love black with red glitter and this is one of the best ones I’ve seen recently.

Leapin’ Lizard!

Lizard Leapin Lizard!

This little fella was recently spotted near my roof, under the eve of my house. He’s so cute I wanted to keep him as a pet.  But then my cats would love that, wouldn’t they?

Creepy Trunk

Creepy Branches Creepy Trunk

I’ve been living in my house now for seven years. This bush/tree has been here the entire time. When we moved in it was maybe 5-6 feet tall. Now it’s about 25 feet tall. Somehow I never noticed these amazing trunks at the bottom of it. They look a little creepy and Halloween-esque when viewed up close don’t they?

Yves Saint Laurent Parisienne Perfume

YSL Parisienne Yves Saint Laurent Parisienne Perfume

Yves Saint Laurent recently came out with a new perfume called Parisienne, and I was sent a bottle to review, so here goes!

Now I must tell you I am no perfume expert, but I do own quite a few perfumes, most of them in the “floral” range. This one fits rights in.

When I first sprayed it into the air (which I normally do because if I hate the smell I do not want it on me all day long) I thought it was too strong, and there way no way I would like it. After a minute or two though it mellowed out, and I started to think maybe it wasn’t so bad.

I decided to go one step further and actually spray into the air, then walk underneath it to get a light “dusting” on me, as it were. The first scent (after initial overwhelmingness) that I got was of rose. I happen to love rose scents, some of my favorite perfumes have rose in them. After about 5-10 minutes I started to smell a slight muskiness to it. Normally I cannot stand musk scents, they make me nauseous and seem extremely strong to my sensitive nose. However this was very subtle, and still mixed in with the flower note, so it actually was pretty nice.

After that initial test, I wore it to work the next day. The Hubbie actually didn’t mind it, which is saying A LOT because he’s really sensitive to smell, especially in the morning, which is when I sprayed it on. He dislikes musk more than me, but this didn’t bother him at all.

As far as staying power I really can’t comment on it. I’m one of those people who can no longer smell perfume on themselves after like an hour, so I have no clue if it was still on me or not after all day. I have heard though that the reason we can’t smell it anymore is because our noses adjust to the scent, it’s not that it’s worn off. So whatever that’s worth to you, there it is!

Even though packaging isn’t really the main reason I would buy or test anything out, I have to say the bottle is really attractive on this perfume. Some perfume bottles just are so 80′s or look way over the top fancy, but this looks somehow very sexy and Parisian to me.

Overall I really liked this perfume and would recommend it to anyone who likes florals mixed with very subtle musky scents.
