Half of our short week is almost over, can you just deal with a couple more days of work until freedom?
As you may have heard MAC has released a new collection of six nail polishes for fall/winter 2009. This collection was created by Jin Soon, who is a professional nail artist and founder/owner of Jin Soon Natural Hand and Foot Spas in New York. To be honest, I had never heard of her before this collection came out. I’m not really one to fall all over myself following every single nail technician and fashion trend around. I like what I like, doesn’t matter what “fashion” folks tell me to like. Just keepin’ it real.
This collection definitely says “fall” to me, the (mostly) creme colors are dark, vampy and some a bit unusual. I am totally in love with a few of them and just kinda *meh* on a few others.
The formula on these is pretty decent. They are thin and all applied very evenly and needed three coats. Not sure about wear compared to MAC polishes of ‘yore (which tend to be chippy) because I haven’t yet worn any of these for any length of time. Peep ‘em!
Cool Reserve is a very pale grey/lavender creme. It reminds me of a lighter version of Sephora’s Metro Chic. I like this, but feel like it’s already been done before. This was three coats.
Morning party people!
Today I’ve got some of China Glaze’s new glitter nail polishes. They are coming out with FIFTY glitters, if you can believe it. Ugh, I fear I will need an entire new storage cart just for my China Glaze at this point! And I have heard that they will also have some other glitters that are exclusive to Sally’s and not even part of the 50!
In general I am not a huge fan of glitters. I like them (some of them) but don’t LOVE them. I feel a wee bit too old to be wearing a lot of them, especially the ones with huge chunks in them, so I tend to stick to polishes with smaller glitter pieces when I wear them. Another issue for me with glitter is that they tend to be chunky, not smooth and that kind of drives me batty.
The formula on these is thick. You definitely need a good 2 minutes drying time between each coat and you will need three coats for all of these for maximum impact. Most of these have different shaped and sized glitter in them. I didn’t show these with a top coat and you’ll see that some look really chunky. A good thick top coat like Poshe or Seche Vite will help smooth them out though. Enjoy!
Preppy Pink is a pale, very girly pink with lighter colored opalescent glitter. I only used two coats here and really should have used three.
