Jessica Burlesque Beauty for Fall 2009

Today I am showing you Jessica’s Burlesque Beauty collection, which is new for fall 2009. The idea behind this collection was a menagerie of “Moulin Rouge” like colors that are both dramatic and glamorous. There are six colors in this collection and all are cremes with the exception of one which has a very subtle shimmer. Jessica’s polishes are eco-friendly, meaning they are big 3 free. They also contain UVA/UVB protection in them to protect against sun damage and Vitamin A for nail conditioning.

I have to say I wasn’t much of a Jessica fan until their spring collection came out this year. Their colors never spoke to me before, but I really think this is their best collection yet! Though all the colors may not be ones you have never seen before, the formula is freakin fantastic. I mean FANTASTIC! These were SO amazingly creamy, smooth, opaque and easy to apply. I barely had any nail clean up afterward because the polish stayed where I put it with no runs. All colors applied in just two coats with 1 exception.  Read on!

Jessica Feather Boa Jessica Burlesque Beauty for Fall 2009
Feather Boa

Feather Boa is a really pretty mauve purple with a slightly smoked out effect. This is particularly flattering on fair skin tones I think because of the cool undertones in it. I really liked this color a lot and can definitely see myself wearing on nails and/or toes for fall.

Jessica Gorgeous Garter Belt Jessica Burlesque Beauty for Fall 2009
Gorgeous Garter Belt

Gorgeous Garter Belt is a magenta pink color. This wasn’t one of my favorites just because I don’t normally go for colors like this, but it is pretty nonetheless.

Jessica Ruffled Bottoms Jessica Burlesque Beauty for Fall 2009
Ruffled Bottoms

Ruffled Bottoms just might be my favorite color in this collection. It’s a dark violet color and SO nice! It’s just a really great color and I couldn’t stop looking at my fingers when it was on.

Jessica Sexy Siren Jessica Burlesque Beauty for Fall 2009
Sexy Siren

Sexy Siren is a plum color that actually looks a bit different than the pic shows. I couldn’t get this color to come out true on camera for some reason. It’s darker and less red/more plum colored than this shows.

Jessica For Your Eyes Only Jessica Burlesque Beauty for Fall 2009
For Your Eyes Only

For Your Eyes Only was another stunner for me. This is a dark grape purple. Again the color in real life is actually more purple and less navy than this pictured shows. It’s vampy, sexy and great for fall!

Jessica Fishnets and Fringe Jessica Burlesque Beauty for Fall 2009
Fishnets and Fringe

Fishnets and Fringe is another of the great ones here. The color is a dark hunter green and it has a very slight shimmer that you can really only see when in sunlight. As you will see from my comparison swatches below, it is a dupe for OPI’s Here Today…Aragon Tomorrow. This needed three coats (the only one that did) to get it fully opaque. Just gorgeous!

Fishnets and Fringe vs. OPI Here Today…Aragon Tomorrow

As you can see, these are basically identical. There was no difference on the nail to my eye between the two. As far as formula they both were really great and both needed three coats. Price wise I would say if you get the OPI online, you will get a better deal because Jessica’s polishes are $7.00 compared to say about $4.50 on 8ty8 Beauty online.

Overall I really am happy with this collection and definitely will be wearing 4 out of the 6 polishes here regularly. Which ones do you like?

You can find Jessica products here and they retail for $7.00 each. This collection should be out soon!

I love the range of purples in this collection. I want them all, but Feather Boa calls out to me the most.

  • Loving those purples! They remind me a little of what I wanted Chanel Vendetta to be.

Gotta be Ruffled Bottoms, love it! Do you know when the collection will be available (apologies if you’ve already said and I’ve been daft!)?

Oh and as a short aside, may I say how much I love the blog? I read it every day but haven’t quite gotten round to commenting yet (degrees’ll do that for you!) but I graduated today so really had no excuse any more! Please keep it up!

Very pretty colours, and I agree that the purples are lovely. Is it just me, or are all the companies releasing the same colours? OPI, Zoya, and Jessica all have similar colour lines, as far as I can tell. Hmmm…..

  • Hi Kelly:

I should have posted sooner but I have to keep finding new words to describe how these new nail varnishes look on your beautiful nails. How do you paint your nails with such a flawless look to them?

I love Feather Boa, I can see that on many toes this summer, it has such a dazzling effect on me.

Gorgeous Garter Belt (love these names they come up with, lol) such a pink magenta looks awesome on your nails. I could see that for Easter Time or it could be used any time.

I can see why you love the Ruffled Bottoms with it’s alluring and captivating violet shade. I just love the violet colors on you.

The other favorite ones were For Your Eyes Only, grape purple have to see it in person and wow how very similar the OPI Aragon Tommorow is to Jessica’s Fishnets and Fringe.

I remember one movie with Angalina who was wearing this gorgeous dark green but she doesn’t do it justice to the mesmorizing way you wear it. That’s what we love about your web blog. I can’t wait for this collection to come out. Kudos for the link.

    (((((((Love Kelly))))

  • Wow, this almost has to be the best color collection. Purples and berries oh my! I can pass for the green (looks black) though.

  • Wow, I can’t get enough purples and berries. Those are all very wearable colours. I would like that green more if it weren’t as dark, but…on the bright side, at least there are more greens out there now! :) Thanks for posting your swatches.

    Hi melli,

You are right they are all releasing similar purples and the same green!

    Hi Mc Huggs,

When I’m finishes painting them, I go around the cuticles with a small paintbrush I got at Michael’s that’s been dipped in remover. That cleans everything up and makes them look perfect!

  • I love Ruffled Bottoms! But I think I would be embarrassed to tell anyone the name of the polish if I were to be asked what it was called!

    July 7, 2009
  • OMG now those are lovely shades!

  • I’m anxiously awaiting the dark greens for fall in an attempt to match the color of my husband’s car!
Thank you so much for the color comparisons, I think I’ll have to buy both *just because*!
