- How is your day going so far?
So far, so good though I did just wake up! I am still recovering from my trip, so exhausted… - What polish do you have on your tips today?
None and I haven’t worn any for about 10 days now because I’m giving them a break! - When did you first start really getting into nail polish?
I would say around age 12 or 13 - Do you do your own mani/pedi or get them done?
I do my own mani’s now, but didn’t used to. I still do my pedi’s sometimes, but I tend to get them done in salons in the summer a lot. I cannot deal with all the bending over and all, it kills my back! Plus they do a way better job than I do! - Who is your biggest celebrity crush?
David Beckham. - Would you rather do what you love for a living but struggle to make ends meet, or do something you just tolerate but make lots of $$?
Honestly I would rather do what I love and make lots of $$ at the same time! BUT since that wasn’t the question I asked, I must choose one of these options. I have never done what I loved and either struggled or made lots of money. But I have just tolerated what I do pretty much my whole life and made pretty good money so I know what that’s like. I think if I had never known what it was like to make good money, I would have chosen struggling and doing what I love, but since I have a mortgage and live in one of the most expensive areas in the US, I am going with tolerating and making moolah. Le sigh. - What is your dream destination for a vacation?
Now that I went to London I am thinking a tropical vacation is in order next time around. I would love to visit Fiji or Tahiti! - What are your favorite beauty related websites?
My very favorite beauty related website is Makeup and Beauty Blog, which is written by a fellow Bay Area chickie named Karen. Her site is the BOMB because the writing is excellent, the photos are fabulous, the layout is simple and pleasing to the eye, her Photoshop skillz rock and she’s hilarious. Not to mention her cat Tabs is adorable (and no I am not being paid by her to write this, haha). Some others that I read on pretty much on a daily basis are, Temptalia, Scrangie, Nail Juice, The Polish Addict, All Lacquered Up and Steph’s Closet. - What are your favorite non-beauty websites?
There are MANY websites I visit regularly, but the ones I must read every day are: Dooce, Pioneer Woman, Nothing But Bonfires, Go Fug Yourself, Bakerella and Blurbomat (Dooce’s hubbie). So what do all these sites have in common? They all have either fantastic writing, photography, design or all three. I may read many websites, but there are very few that keep me coming back daily and the ones that do truly stand out because of the quality. If there are three things that immediately turn me off when I land on a page they are: spelling errors, bad grammar and poor layout. - What is your favorite vampy color of nail polish?
Wow this is a really hard one for me! I think if I HAVE to choose just one it would be OPI Russian Navy.

How is your day going so far?
OK…I am behind on marking my undergrad papers, and it is sunny out, so focus has been really hard today! This is after a 3 month strike at our university, and a year of poor morale amongst our faculty – our term should have ended two months ago. Somehow, I am still smiling. I think it’s the nail polish!!
What polish do you have on your tips today?
China Glaze FYI, which I like even though it is pale.
…I have a Sally Hansen Salon white (forget the name), with two coats of Call My Cell-ery – very glittery!

I do them, but get a professional pedi once or twice a year to really get rid of cuticles.
Who is your biggest celebrity crush?
Currently, Hugh Jackman. I had a major crush on Sean Bean for years, but that is over now.
Would you rather do what you love for a living but struggle to make ends meet, or do something you just tolerate but make lots of $$?

3. When did you first start really getting into nail polish? It’s been off and on since 16. It was actually the add for OPI Russian Navy that got me back into it and was the start of my first serious stash. So that answers question #10 too.

I love my hobbies and where I live, as long as I can afford those things, a tolerable job is ok.

1. How is your day going so far?
Pretty okay. It’s warm outside and the sun’s out so Zena keeps wanting to go outside. She needs a doggy door, I think.

Essie’s Mesmerize on my fingers and Watermelon on the toes (too lazy to paint my toes a la moment). Mesmerize was one of the polishes that came yesterday and I squealed. I’ve been re-Smurfed for the third time. I was Smurfed when I was born (yes, they got me breathing or I wouldn’t be here) and I was Surfed again when I graduated high school as our school colors are Old Gold and Royal Blue. Our hats and gowns were the blue while the tassels were both colors.
3. When did you first start really getting into nail polish?
Uh, this year. Ha ha. I’ve always kept a few around but this year I’ve really started going ga ga over it.

For the most part, yes. I do love getting my toes done at a salon even though my feet are ticklish. They look 10 times better when a pro does it.I haven’t gone to a nail salon since September. :Cry:

Oh geez, I don’t know. Jesse Spencer (Dr. Chase on House) is quite cute though.

I’d pick the same as you but uh number two I guess. There are other things that can make me happy than just my job.
7. What is your dream destination for a vacation?
There’s a list but I’d like to see where my ancestry lies before anything else. I’m German and Scottish on my dad’s side and German, French-Oneida and the tiniest integer of Polish on my mom’s side. The Polish is pretty much extinct. It’s unknown whether we could be German-Russian on my mom’s side as where my grandparents emigrated from was annexed into Russia for a long while.

MBB, Bellasugar, Scrangie, MissChievious from YT, Nailphile and there’s a few channels on YT I watch.

2. What polish do you have on your tips today? None right now – I’m probably going to try out a metallic pink today though.
3. When did you first start really getting into nail polish? Probably about 14 years ago, when a friend insisted on doing my toes in Elizabeth Arden “Knightsbridge”. I loved it.

Something in between, probably. Satisfaction is important, but when you’re constantly short of $$, it’s not very satisfying. I believe in balance.
