Sally Hansen HD Hi-Definition Nail Polish – Part I
Morning! Today I have Part I of Sally Hansen’s new HD Hi-Definition colors for summer. They claim they are “HD” because they use a patented formula using Real Liquid Crystals for multi-dimensional colors and iridescent shine. They definitely are bright, vivid and shimmery and very spot on for summer
The formula on these is almost jelly-ish, they claim it’s a frost but it comes out like shimmer. Hard to explain. You definitely have to wait a minute or two in-between coats because if not, the polish tends to “gather” in one spot and create weird pools or lines. Check ‘em out!

Lite
Lite is a very bright almost chartreuse like yellow. This is exactly the type of yellow I can’t wear because my skin already has too much yellow in it and it just clashes. I DO love this color though and think it would rock on darker skin! This was three coats and unlike most yellows not streaky because of the shimmer (I presume).

Three D
Three D is a really gorgeous tangerine and I was actually very surprised at how much I liked it on me. This was just two coats, but I could have used three to make it more opaque.

Digital
Digital is a bright blue toned pink that I also liked a lot. This is definitely on the cool side unlike the first two. This was two coats.

Hi Res
Hi Res wasn’t my favorite. It’s a strawberry colored pink with red tones to it. It’s pretty but just didn’t knock my socks off. This was also two coats.
Stay tuned for Part II where I show the blue/green/purple ones!

That does look like an awesome yellow!
But I wouldn’t like polish that isn’t that easy to apply.
I really like Three D, but I have enough corals (they are always my fav!). How long does it usually take you to do your nails? For me, it’s about an 1.5 hrs or more. (Removing polish, base coat, 2-3 coats polish, and top coat). How do you apply your polish? It’s flawless! Do you start at the top or tip of your nail?
Hi Heather,
It takes me maybe 10 minutes max. I always start at the base then wrap around the tip with each coat. I usually do three coats then a fast drying top coat like Seche Vite/Essie Good To Go or Poshe. I use a thin paint brush dipped in remover to clean up around the edges, that’s the secret to perfect looking nails!
10 minutes? that’s super scaryawesome! I usually watch tv while doing my nails, so that contributes a lot to the time I spend on my nails!
Ha, ha. That doesn’t include if I actually file and shape them or deal with cuticles though
Hrm.. I guess Hi Rise would be my fave for my fingernails and maybe Digital for my toes. I think Three D might have a little too much orange in it for my liking. Not too sure this collection is thrilling me, but I do like the HD/Shimmer effect. Thanks for showing!
Oh Lawd, and the consistency sounds potentially frustrating.
Whoa! I love how shimmery they are. And must you tease me? I’m very much looking forward to part two!
i got a preview bottle of the yellow from lucky magazine a few months ago and i have to say i was very impressed by it. i’ve tried other yellows and they just dont work for my skin tone generally, and the application is always wonky– BUT this ROCKED! it was weirdly very watery, i dont know if that was just my bottle or if that’s the formula, but it’s easy to drip off the brush everywhere, but once you’re conscious of it, it doesnt hinder application- it kind of seemed to help b/c it made sure i did thin coats if that makes any sense. also, the cool metallic effect really helped the yellow work for my pale skin, i really cant wait to check out the other colors in store
i like the blu and i warmed up to a lot of the other colors
they actually put them out early (i think) as they have been in the drugstores around me for two weeks or so
My family and good makeup are what cheer me up!!
