OPI Spain Collection for Fall 2009 – Part II

As promised, here is Part II of OPI’s Spain collection for fall 2009. These are the colors I feel are more safe and more easily dupable to others we’ve seen before. All of these in theory are nice colors and they mostly all looked good on me, however they were all a little plain and conservative for my tastes. It’s funny because most of these colors seemed like summer colors to me rather than fall.

The formula was perfect on all of these. All but one required only two coats and like I’ve said before, that’s always a plus! Check ‘em out.

OPI Pink Flamenco OPI Spain Collection for Fall 2009 Part II
Pink Flamenco

Pink Flamenco is my favorite out of these six. It’s a cool, bright pink creme. I am loving this color right now as a pedi and it’s very summery and pretty.

OPI No Spain No Gain OPI Spain Collection for Fall 2009 Part II
No Spain No Gain

No Spain No Gain is a medium berry creme that leans towards the purple side. It’s pretty but I’m not salivating over it or anything.

OPI Manicurist Of Seville OPI Spain Collection for Fall 2009 Part II
Manicurist Of Seville

Manicurist Of Seville is a bright poppy red creme. Do I think it’s nice? Yes. Do I have anything else to say about it? No.

OPI Barefoot In Barcelona OPI Spain Collection for Fall 2009 Part II
Barefoot In Barcelona

Barefoot in Barcelona is one that I was hoping would be a “weird” taupey/mushroomy color, but sadly, it wasn’t. It’s more of a sand color. This is actually the only one that doesn’t work with my skin tone, it has too much yellow in it. This is also the only one that was fairly sheer, so I used three coats.

OPI Bullish On OPI OPI Spain Collection for Fall 2009 Part II
Bullish On OPI

Bullish On OPI is a orange/red creme. This is another one that’s nice, but doesn’t say either fall or original to me.

OPI Conquistadorable Color OPI Spain Collection for Fall 2009 Part II
Conquistadorable Color

Conquistadorable Color is a pinkish/red creme and this was my second fav of these ones. Still it’s not really a color that’s very unique in my book.

Now that you have seen the whole collection do you like Part I or Part II better? Will you be buying any of these colors?

The OPI Spain collection should be coming out the first week of August so look for it at e-tailers and stores soon!

Lovely swatches as usual! Not to sure if I’m going to go for anything in this collection honestly as nothing has really jumped out at me. Maybe Here Today… Aragon Tomorrow and Suzi Skies In The Pyrenees, but I wish that had more shimmer.

All of these colors are nice, but I feel like I already have similar colors in my collection. Overall I like part II better. Thanks for the post!

I’d have to say Part I has more colors I like, since solid reds and pinks just don’t look good with my skin. I think I want to get Give Me Moor! and Pamplona Purple.

  • Nah, I know what you mean. Those are all safe colors like the ones OPI tend to put out. I won’t be getting anyone of those!

I love the consistency of the recent OPI polishes – the consistency of their collections from autumn last year onwards seems really good to me. I can always find about 6 colours I really like – this time they are Here Today, Aragon Tomorrow, Suzi Skiis in the Pyranees; Conquistadorable colour: No Spain, No gain; Pampalona Purple and the beige one! (Can’t remember its name sorry.) I try to convince myself that I need to buy at least 6 to make the postage worthwhile – OPI polishes are so expensive here that its much cheaper to pay to have them delivered from the states. Thank you for the swatches – without blogs like yours I would be ‘guessing’ colours by looking at the bottles, so am very grateful for all the swatching you do :) )

I’ll be skipping part 2 polishes. They all look like they’ve been done before.

    Hi Lucy,

Yeah, I think most people feel the same as you. I guess they can’t ALL give us lemmings!

Hasn’t No Spain, No Gain been done to death? Moxie, Miami Beet … I mean, it’s pretty and all, but enough!
I do think these are pretty but not terribly unique. Thanks for swatching!

A lot of these feel pretty familiar. I think I’m going to get Here Today, Aragon Tomorrow, Suzi Skis, and Can You Tapas This?, but I’ll pass on the others, I think. But I’m so glad you showed the swatches — they really help me make buying decisions!

I had really high hopes for this collection from the promotional ads. The ad colors looked amazing. I don’t think OPI delivered on this collection. I had hoped this would be a spectacular collection like last year’s Collection de France! I may get a few but I’m pretty disappointed.

  • Hi Kelly:

    I didn’t realize this was a two part day collection. OPI always has the best polishes and the names are unique. As for Part II, my choices would be 1) Pink Flamino-love that cool creamy pink, it’ looks gorgeous on your nails; 2) No Spain No Gain- a fabulous reddish pink that has piurple shades; 3) Manicurist of Seville- it’s a beautiful bright red color;
    4) Bullish on OPI-lovely orangey type red color: 5) Conquistodorable another rd creme and 6) Barefoot in Barcelano-it’s just too sandy and bland.

However, of all the ones I would attempt to wear would just be No Spain No Gain because of it’s purpleness , pink and red, lol. Yet all the reds and pinks are just gorgeous colors that I would be tempted…

    ((((((Love Kelly)))))

Thanks for the nice swatches but as a whole I have to say Meh on the colors. I think OPI has really dropped the ball lately. I think they are getting lazy. Other companies are letting loose much better collections (Nubar, Zoya…the list could go on and on) I mean even Essie has been breaking out lately. I am really dissappointed. These colors don’t really say Spain to me either.

  • The stand-out for me is Suzi Skiis…other than that I’m not fussed. Manicurist of Seville should have been orange!

Although (and I may be the only one saying this) I may get Barefoot in Barcelona. I’m intrigued by it for some reason.

    Hi Helen,

Nope, someone else liked that one too so you are not alone!

I like a few from this collection, pamplona purple, no spain no gain maybe suzi skiis. But it’s not wowed me. I’m quite looking forward to the christmas release from OPI, some of the colours look a little more interesting.

Thanks for the great swatches it’s so helpful to see swatches so I can make my purchase decisions!

  • Hmm… Really, thanks for the beautiful swatches. But I think I’ll pass on this part of the collection. There are absolutely no lemmings in here for me, they just look all too ‘safe’. (Unlike the first collection where I’m just salivating over four of the shades there)

  • This is my first time checking out your blog…great site! I adore the Pink Flamenco polish. Thanks for posting swatches.

    Hi Kelly,

Can you tell me if Aragon and Zoya’s Envy are similar? Aragon looks darker here but in the bottle pics they look exactly the same.

    Hi Loki,

Aragon is definitely darker and has more of a blackened effect than Envy. Envy doesn’t look as mossy as Aragon, it’s more of a forest green. Both are FAB if you love greens!

I will be passing on this collection, nothing original to me but I love the 1st collection.

Though the shade may be repetitive, I found myself most drawn to No Spain No Gain. I also like Barefoot in Barcelona.
