Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Nail Lacquer
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC) is a new brand to me. I became aware of them from Scrangie’s blog and fell in lust with some of the colors she posted, so I decided to give them a try myself!
Some background about the company: They started in 2004 with just two lip balms called Tarred & Feathered. These were a black and white duo that were created to either darken and define or lighten the lips. They now offer a wide range of products including Lip Tar, which is completely AMAZING (check out Temptalia’s swatches of some), nail polish, loose powder eyeshadows and even airbrushing ink!
The formula on these was pretty great. They were thin, but not runny and I only had one slight streaking issue with one of them and when you see it, you’ll know why!

Uber
Uber is a nice mellow taupe creme. I wanted to try this one out because I love “mushroomy” colors and thought this might fit the bill. It kind of does, but really it looks more safe than that. This is the kind of color that would be great in a work place where you have to be conservative, but this has that slight edge that makes it special. This went on a little sheer so I needed three coats.

Dangerous
Dangerous is a medium grey creme. I LOVE grey polish, I think it’s classic yet edgy all at once and this one was excellent. It’s really what I define as a true “primer” grey. This was three coats.

Wasabi
Wasabi is BRIGHT and very true to the name. It’s a yellow/green creme that looks just like the real thing. This is the one that gave me some streaky issues, but nothing I couldn’t handle. The streaks must come from the yellow since most yellows are difficult to work with. This is three coats and totally unlike anything I own. Not for the faint of heart!

Spanglemaker
Spanglemaker is an awesome metallic shimmery silver. This is like Tin Man silver. It’s hard to tell from the pic, but there is tons of shimmer in there. This was three coats.

Swamp Thing
Swamp Thing was my favorite of these. This is another one whose name is spot on. Its a dark, swampy green creme that has hints of olive to it, which you KNOW I love! This was three coats.

Blackboard
Blackboard is pretty much what it says it is. It’s a blackboard colored green creme and it’s my second fav of the bunch. I certainly do not have another green that looks like this and it’s super delicious! This was three coats.
OCC only has about 15 polishes at the moment, but they all seem to be pretty cool, unique colors. I cannot wait to see what they come out with next! If you are interested in OCC, check out their website here. The polishes retail for $8.00 each.

Welcome! My name is Kelly and Vampy Varnish is a cruelty-free beauty blog.

i have wasabi and i really like the color but the formula didn’t impress me.
i didn’t try these colors but i wasn’t impressed with the bright colors
these look great though – blackboard swamped and dangerous look like i need to give them another chance
Those colors are brilliant. I saw blackboard on their webist
wasabi gave me the same problems. i had good applications with the rest. they’re loose eyeshadow is great as well. and their liquid lip tar is ridiculously pigmented.
Ooh, yikes! Yeah, I can tell you had a bit of trouble with the Wasabi. Still, they all look nice on your nails. The only colors that impress me are the Spanglemaker (because I LOVE silver) and Blackboard.
Dangerous, swamped and wasabi are great! I love greens! and creme colors!
Hi Samantha,
Yeah you can see every damn ridge on my nail with Wasabi!
I really like Dangerous… definitely going to order that!
Those last two are crazy hot! I hope they ship to Canada for a reasonable rate.
Love Blackboard and Wasabi. I ordered them as soon as I saw them on Scrangie’s blog a while back – a blackboard green was just too unique to pass up =)
I couldn’t decide whether or not to order Swamp Thing, and didn’t… Might have to concoct another order! =]
Hi Kelly, love these, especially the teal blue one. Are you in the UK? Do you know how to get these locally?
Another teal I LOVE is Illamasqua’s Muse – check out the review on my blog!
Hi Sarah,
I’m in the US, I wish I was in the UK (just visited London and loved it!). The only place I know of to get OCC is on their website, not sure if they ship to UK or not. I agree with you, Illamasqua rocks, I’ve reviewed quite a few of their colors!
