Deborah Lippmann “Celebrate” 10th Anniversary Collection

Deborah Lippmann is releasing a really cool limited edition set of 3 colors called Celebrate in order to celebrate the 10th anniversary of her company. I would like to take back
everything I said about their bad customer service. Deborah read my
blog post about that awhile back and emailed me. She was “mortified”
(her words) that no one had gotten back to me and apologized. She also
gave me her personal contact info. I was blown away by this because
this is Deborah Lippmann personally contacting me! She was so
gracious and sweet and I am very grateful about the whole thing.

Ok
enough of the sappiness and onto the collection! The polishes are all glittery, super blingy and fabulous. Check ‘em out!

Superstar is hands down the most glitter packed polish I have ever seen in my life! The base color is a warm brown and the tiny glitter particles are copper colored. You can see this almost looks chunky it’s so jam packed! Totally over the top and fantastic! I didn’t try it with a top coat so I can’t tell you if it’s totally smooth after using one. It didn’t feel as chunky as it looks though, so I have a feeling with a good coat or two of Seche or Poshe, it’s smooth. This was three coats for full glitter impact! I didn’t have any problem with removal surprisingly, it swiped right off with OPI’s Expert Touch remover.

Ruby Red slippers is so cool. The base is a light kind of watery black and then its filled with tiny hexagon shaped glitter and huge hexagon chunks!  The tricky thing about polish like this is you have to wait for each coat to mostly dry or dry otherwise you’ll push the large chunks around and they will wind up mostly at the tip of your nail. It can also be tricky around the cuticle or nail tip because you don’t want a large chunk hanging onto your skin or off your nail. So if that happens, I just gently push it around with either my fingernail or a toothpick to place it. I love this because it’s totally like something Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz would wear of she was more alternative! This was three coats.

Holy Moly Funky Chunky is so cool! This one is a black polish with large black hexagon sequins in it. Yes you heard me, sequins!! At first when applying indoors I couldn’t really see the sequins much, it looked like globs of black paint. Once I was outdoors though I could totally see the effect and it’s really cool. This is another one you have to be careful of waiting in-between coats and of the sequin “placement”. This was three coats.

I am totally impressed with this collection and LOVE that Deborah is pushing the boundaries of what we know of as glitter polish. This definitely isn’t the glitter that 12 year old girls wear. This is sophisticated and edgy and I can’t wait to see what else they can toss into polish to make it look new and amazing! These will be available at Nordstrom for their yearly anniversary sale in July so shop on!

Love them all – but especially Funky Chunky. It is so nice to see something I’ve never seen before. Wow!

    Hi Styrch,

Marquee Moon is part of her fall collection, not anniversary collection. Info coming soon!

  • Wow these colors are awesome – but I wonder how hard they would be to remove after applied.

    Hi TC,

They were all super easy to remove actually! As long as you have a good remover (I use OPI’s Expert Touch).

WOWOW! I love bizarre polish! I love the black! I just wish Funky Chunky had some of those lovely mini hexagons in it! This over a base coat of grape should be the SHIZZ!

Just tried a new cheap Maybelline glitter over my OPI putty color… FAB!

I’m still trying to decide if I like these or not. I do love glitter polishes, but usually not ones that cover the entire nail in it. The Funky Chunky is kind of cool looking though.. reminds me of bee hives. I’d love to see it with a thin coat of plain black cream, so that the glitter didn’t show through, but the texture still showed up

  • love, love the Ruby Red Slippers. The others are nice, but I don’t think I’d wear them.

  • Ruby Red Slippers is mesmerizing. My only beef is why can’t they come up with a different name? So many nail-polish companies have a colour with that name or something similar – it’s played out.

The black Funky Chunky is indeed unique (and fierce!), but I’m not sure I’d wear it because the unusual lumpiness puts me off a little. Reminds me of snakeskin for some reason.

Can you describe the Nordstrom sale? What sort of discount is applied? I just got a 2 day code for 25% off at the Lippmann site.
    thanks!

    HI allie,

I don’t believe these will be on “sale” for the Nordstrom annual event, I just meant you can buy them starting then.

funky chunky for some reason seems like a “fancier” version of the typical black nail polish…i really like it! its less grungy and more classy, if you will, then any black polish i’ve seen! i love it!

These look great! I really want to try Funky Chunky =) Quick question. I’ve seen some other swatches of it on other blogs and they look so different, as in waaaay lumpier =\ Do you have any application tips to get it to look the way you did? Love your blog!

    Hi Sandra,

Funky Chunky is a weird one. I think that the camera angle and lighting plays a huge part in why some pics of it looked “chunkier” than others. It’s definitely chunky and takes some patience in applying. When not in the sun it does tend to look like badly applied lumpy polish. It’s really strange on the one hand I love it because it’s so unique but then again also looks bad in certain lighting. Good luck if you get it!
