OPI Spain Collection for Fall 2009 – Part II

As promised, here is Part II of OPI’s Spain collection for fall 2009. These are the colors I feel are more safe and more easily dupable to others we’ve seen before. All of these in theory are nice colors and they mostly all looked good on me, however they were all a little plain and conservative for my tastes. It’s funny because most of these colors seemed like summer colors to me rather than fall.

The formula was perfect on all of these. All but one required only two coats and like I’ve said before, that’s always a plus! Check ‘em out.

OPI Pink Flamenco OPI Spain Collection for Fall 2009 Part II
Pink Flamenco

Pink Flamenco is my favorite out of these six. It’s a cool, bright pink creme. I am loving this color right now as a pedi and it’s very summery and pretty.

OPI Spain Collection for Fall 2009 – Part I

Happy Monday peeps, hope your week has started off well! Today I have your first look at full swatches of OPI’s Spain collection for fall 2009. There are 12 polishes in this collection and they are all cremes. Well ok that’s not entirely true, three of them (the best three in my opinion) have a very interesting and subtle shimmer but we’ll discuss those below.

I’m feeling like at least 50-70% of these are pretty basic colors that we have seen before. They’re mostly pretty safe and I think there are too many pinks and red/oranges thrown in here. I don’t know, it just seems as though pink and red have been done to death and can’t we do something more progressive and interesting? But having said that, there are some that I really liked a lot and a few that I LOVED. The formula on these was pretty spot on. They were thick, opaque, creamy and smooth and almost every single one was perfect in just two coats. Definitely a plus!

This is part I of this post and I’m showing the six that were my favs and I think will be the fan favorites as well. Enjoy!

OPI Pampelona Purple OPI Spain Collection for Fall 2009 Part I
Pamplona Purple

Pamplona Purple is a really flattering medium grape creme. This is what I would classify as a pinkish purple. This may not be the most earth shattering color, but I feel it’s very wearable and a great fall color (and summer for that matter) and I definitely will be wearing it. This was two coats.

Vampy Varnish Poll

Happy weekend peeps! I wanted to do a quick poll to check in with you, Dear Reader, to see what kinds of posts you prefer. You see, I really want to make sure I am keeping you happy because without you guys, I would just be going on and on for no reason!

I have always had a sneaking suspicion that the reason most of you come to this site is because of the swatches. I wouldn’t be surprised (or offended) if the majority of you didn’t really even read what I write, but simply scroll right to the pictures because after all, that’s mainly what this blog is for!  I know that most readers on the internet actually “scan” rather than read and are usually only on a page for about 30-90 seconds, so this would make total sense to me. My gut feeling is that keeping this a really “clean” blog that focuses on pictures rather than words is what makes the most sense for a nail polish blog and is what my readers want. So please let me know by taking the poll below, it’s open until 11:59 pm, Sunday night.

China Glaze Retro Diva for Fall 2009

China Glaze will soon be releasing a 12 polish collection for fall 2009 called Retro Diva. This collection is supposed to be colors pulled from the 70′s decade. I was just a young punk kid in the 70′s, but I do remember the colors and look of those days. Some of these colors seemed right on target, some didn’t say 70′s at all to me and I definitely think they missed three very strong 70′s colors which are avocado green, dark burnt orange and chocolate brown. I would really have loved to have seen some type of green especially!

The finish on these are shimmery with a metallic edge. I only had a couple application issues and most of them were two coaters, which is always a huge plus. Check them out!

China Glaze Cords China Glaze Retro Diva for Fall 2009
Cords

Cords is a really cool color that’s like a cross between taupe and platinum. This was one of my favorite ones from the collection because I feel it’s more original than a lot of them. This doesn’t say 70′s to me, but that’s ok. This was two coats.

Tweezerman Review

Today I will be reviewing some Tweezerman products that I recently acquired and am really enjoying!

As you probably have heard a million times, Tweezerman makes the best tweezers out there. They are super sharp, last for an eternity and they will even re-sharpen them for you for free  if/when they get dull. I have heard this too my whole life basically, but for some reason, I never got any of their tweezers. I have been using an old Revlon one for like 15 years and it was ok, but nothing special. Well now I REALLY wish I had been using one of these because it’s a world of difference between Revlon and Tweezerman my friends! Check out the pics and reviews below.

So this beauty was my very first exposure to their tweezers and now I have to say, I will never go back. First off the design is really cute (sorry for darkish pic). It’s a purple that fades into blue and with a kind of speckled paint effect. I like that they made their tweezers look nice, I mean if you can then why not? They are made from stainless steel and the slanted point of these is what really makes these special. They are SHARP and so precise! And when I say SHARP I mean SHARP! You have to remember, I am comparing them to a pair I have had for 15 years that’s never been sharpened so they were incredibly dull and pretty much useless. These will get the tiniest finest hair you have, so you can do a much more precise brow. I did manage to accidentally grasp my skin a couple times because they are so precise so first timers, just be careful of that when using them. If I had to rate these on a 1-10 scale, I would give them a 9, they truly are fabulous. These retail for $25.00.
