Color Club Electro Candy Collection Summer 2009
Holy brightness Batman! Color Club’s new collection for summer 2009 is a very vivid one called Electro Candy. These colors are definitely in the “neon” category (with shimmer!) though my pictures don’t necessarily show that. Neon’s are really hard to photograph, at least for me, so trust me when I say these are even brighter in person. Pics taken in sun with their color enhancing top coat.
The namesake of the bunch Electro Candy is a bright candy colored pink. It leans towards a blue/pink with the undertones. This one is definitely brighter than the picture leads you to believe. This is three coats.
Can you imagine this is WAYYY brighter in person? It is! Volt Of Light is an UBER bright yellow neon shimmer that practically glows. I loved it actually, I really thought it flattered my skin tone since the yellow is a lemon yellow. It was a little streaky at first, as all yellows seem to be, but after 3 coats it was fabulous.
What A Shock! is also a lot brighter in person than the pics show. It’s an apple green color and again looks really great with my cool skin tone. This was also three coats.
Tangerine Scream is a tangerine, almost coral, colored polish. This was also bright but not as shocking as the two previous ones. I liked it on me, but think it would look better on warmer toned skin. This was three coats.
Ultra Violet surprised me in that I didn’t love it as much as I thought I would. I like it, but don’t LOVE it for some reason. The color is a lavender/ light grape and is a little more tame than the other colors in terms of brightness. It flattered fair skin, but just didn’t totally *wow* me. This was three coats.
I think Pure Energy was either my fav or second fav (to Volt Of Light) of this collection. The blue is a sky blue and it’s bright but not as bright as some blues that aren’t billed as “electro” or neons. The base of blue may be very similar to a lot of blues out there right now, but the shimmer to it definitely makes it not like any others. Again, super flattering on cooler skin and this was three coats.
I really like this collection and am surprised at how easy it is to wear these colors. I don’t really go for neons normally but these weren’t “Day Glo” colors really so I found them to be very wearable. You can find these here and they retail for $2.50 each.

I debated buying the whole set but I figured I probably wouldn’t wear the green, yellow or orange too much. I almost got the blue but I have a lot of bright blues. Great review!

My favourite is definitely the purple with bluish shimmer. I think it would be really neat if they released a green with purple shimmer – wonder what they would look like…
Hmm…I never used to like neon polish until last summer when I wore Essie Short Shorts – hehe…I couldn’t stop staring at my nails and they were so bright that you could totally notice them from down the street!
Nothing makes me happier than a neon creme but for some reason I am absolutely in love with these polishes… I ordered electro candy and volt of light before I saw your swatches but now I want pure energy and ultra violet too. This sucks! I’m gonna hold off for a while on the other 2 since I just got half of the color club kicks collection
I love these! I like that they are shimmery neons and not creme finish. I’ll probably get ultra violet, pure energy, and electro candy. How does electro candy compare to Misa Hot People Like you?

I love neons! They make me want to be ten again and paint each nail a different color!
