China Glaze Kicks for Summer 2009 – Part I
China Glaze has put out another giant collection of twelve polishes for summer 2009 called Kicks. Today I am bringing you the first part, which is my favorite collection. The application on these is most excellent. As almost all China Glaze polishes are, these are creamy, flow perfectly onto the nail and I had no bubbling or drag issues. For the most part these are very opaque in just two coats as well (BONUS)! Pics taken in sun with no top coat.

It’s Poppin’ is a very “cheery” pink shimmer that leans towards the red. It’s really pretty and bright, a perfect color for summer. This was two coats.

Custom Kicks (I forgot the “Custom” part on the actual pic) is my favorite one, it ROCKS! Kicks is a robin’s egg blue with a hint of teal and yellow shimmer and it is beyond flattering on my fair skin, I just love it. I also got a few compliments when I wore it last week. This was two coats.

Entourage is a fabulous bright apple green with yellow shimmer. This one was a little less opaque and I only used two coats here, but you can see, I could have used another in some areas. This was probably my second favorite of the bunch since green’s are so fab. This is definitely a “cool” green so it flatters fairer skinned ladies best.

Fly is a raspberry colored shimmer that has a hint of purple in it. It too leans towards the cool side (as this whole collection does actually). This was only two coats.

Paper Chasing is not what I had expected. When I saw it in the bottle I thought I was going to like it the best, but I don’t. I DO like it, but the color just isn’t my favorite green and it has a metallic kind of finish (which isn’t my favorite finish). The color is what I would call a “grass green” and it has shimmer as well. This was three coats.

Sky High-Top is another stand-out shade! The color is a sky blue and it has aqua colored shimmer. The application was so nice and opaque and it only needed two coats.
Which ones will you be getting?
You can find these for sale at most e-tailers now! Stay tuned for Part Deux!

I actually didnt think I was going to buy anything from this collection but now.. hmm, Im leaning towards buying Its Poppin, Custom Kicks and Fly. Ive never liked bright colours before but I have ChG For Audrey on my nails right now and I found out that bright colours might be nice after all
Thanks for the pics
Every time I see this collection reviewed I love it!
I thought I liked It’s Poppin’ best of the colors until I saw the purple shimmer in Fly. Custom Kicks is pretty too.
I usually like greens and blues most, but It’s Poppin’ and Fly look so pretty, I think those are my favorites of this collection.
Hi Veronica,
I love For Audrey, but my bottle was so thick and hard to apply for some reason!
Hi Phyrra,
Yeah these are all pretty shimmery and pretty. Funny how depending on whoever is swatching them they look so different!
Hi Tawny,
Those are both really great summer colors!
All these summer collections coming out are so pretty, but we’re in autumn and I’m bringing out all the cold weather colours! I guess that is a good thing, these colours won’t be in Aus until next summer anyway…
Custom Kicks is my favorite one too. I must admit that I’m a sucker for blue.
Hey Kelly! I usually go under Atomica, but I think from now on, I’ll just stick to my real name.
Your swatches are so pretty as usual. I’ve ordered Chasing Paper and Custom Kicks, although after seeing your swatches, I may have to get It’s Poppin’! Can’t wait to try them out for myself.
Custom Kicks and Entourage are my favorites too!
I got four of them. Paper Chasing, of course, Style Wars, Fly and Custom Kicks. I only tried out two of them and they are fairly sheer, I think. But nice colors.
That’s great, I never thought about China Glaze Kicks like that before.
