Karma Organic is a cosmetics line that’s new to me. They are actually a spa that’s “dedicated to creating an eco-friendly environment with organic products as a healthy alternative for your beauty needs”. They have a line of nail care (among other products) that includes over 50 different nail polish colors, so I thought I would try a few out.
The polishes are big three free which means they do not contain three of the most toxic chemicals in some polishes which are Toluene, Formaldehyde and DBP. They also have an interesting looking polish remover which is biodegradable, 100% soy and corn based, non-toxic, non-carcinogenic, packaged in 100% recyclable glass bottles and comes in different formulas: lavender, tea tree or unscented. Midnight Passion is a very pretty purple color with tiny specks of pink and blue shimmer. The polish isn’t as “blurple” as it looks here, for some reason this one wanted to show it’s blue side! The polish itself was a little thick and I had to take a minute extra between coats or it tended to do the cuticle drag thing. But no worries, it turned out gorgeous! This was three coats.
As promised, here is part II of China Glaze’s new Kicks collection for summer 2009. I didn’t like these quite as much as the first collection. The colors aren’t as interesting and original as I had hoped. I think I am having bright summer polish backlash right now! I am dreaming of dark, creamy, vampy shimmers… It’s funny, I much prefer the weather in spring/summer, but I much prefer the nail polish colors in fall/winter. Such a paradox! Breakin’ was a really nice bright tangerine with yellow shimmer that actually FOR ONCE flattered my skin tone! It was really creamy and nice and I only needed two coats.
China Glaze has put out another giant collection of twelve polishes for summer 2009 called Kicks. Today I am bringing you the first part, which is my favorite collection. The application on these is most excellent. As almost all China Glaze polishes are, these are creamy, flow perfectly onto the nail and I had no bubbling or drag issues. For the most part these are very opaque in just two coats as well (BONUS)! Pics taken in sun with no top coat.
It’s Poppin’ is a very “cheery” pink shimmer that leans towards the red. It’s really pretty and bright, a perfect color for summer. This was two coats.
