Rescue Beauty Lounge for Spring 2009

I FINALLY got my Rescue Beauty colors after having ordered them 3-4 weeks ago! I will never understand how I can get polish from England and China weeks faster than polish from New York, but whatever…Anyway these are freakin awesome and worth the wait! Super duper packed with glitter the spring 2009 collection from RBL isn’t shy and is nothing like they have done in the past. I had no application issues, for a glitter it applied very nicely. Removing it was a cinch, I was very surprised because normally I scrub and scrub to remove them and it wreaks havoc on my cuticles. All pics taken sun in with no top coat.

Frugalista is packed with purple and silver glitter. I used three coats to get as much glitter on the nail as possible and get it uber colorful!

Locavore is a green, silver, gold and blue glitter. This too is three coats.

Look Rich, Be Cheap is gold and purple glitter. This is the perfect Mardi Gras color, any Big Easy readers out there? This was also three coats.

I’m not sure which is my favorite, I really like them all! You can find these at Rescue Beauty Lounge’s website here and they retail for $18.00 each.

I’m glad these aren’t super difficult to remove. I love them all too; I can’t wait to get my hands on them!

I just don’t get these polishes at all, colorful glitter in a clear base? Everyone who has swatched this collection says that they’re all awesome. Maybe they look better in person? I’m ordering locavore, wish me luck. Lovely swatches as usual!

    Hi Kristen,

Are you from New Orleans? I have never been to Mardi Gras, but I was there in 2002 for the first time and love the french quarter and the garden district!

    Hi Heather,

Yeah I know! I guess it’s all in the way you look at it, cheap compared to designer clothing but expensive compared to most other polishes!

    Hi Sharon,

If you don’t love the way it looks how come you bought one? I hope you’ll love it and I think these could look really great over other colors as well!

  • I can’t believe they came off easily! That’s just about unheard of with glitter polishes!
    But $18 is a bit steep…

    Hi Nessa,

I know I just let the polish remover sit there for like 3 seconds and swipe, came right off! I was SURE it was going to be a nightmare. I agree, $18 is steep.

I really like Locavore, but I just can’t bring myself to buy a polish for $18.

I love these! I just bought Locavore, and my hubby said it will be perfect for New Year’s Eve, as well as summer pedicures.

Yes, $18 is steep, but the way I look at it, I would be paying way more for a decent manicure. I can do manis just as well as most spas and salons, and get at least 10 applications per bottle (usually way more if I finish it…like that ever happens). Say I pay $20 for an average manicure…10 manis come out to $200. Buying this bottle of polish for $25 (with tax and shipping) saves me $175. That’s just my perspective on it.

  • Thank you for the swatches. I am torn on these. On one hand, they do look like cool glitter polishes, but I’d prefer a colored base.

    Hi Melli,

You are so right, thanks for that it makes total sense!

    Hi Jinnzor,

I know I too prefer a color base. You could put it on top of another polish though!

Man, I really am surprised…I thought I’d be SO excited about these. I’m just kinda..meh. I think Locavore would be really pretty on top of Nubar Peacock. Were you able to get these polishes smooth on the surface with a topcoat? I think snaggy glitters would drive me insane (there’s only so much Seche can do! :) )

These are beautiful. I had a really hard time removing one of the nfu-oh glitter polishes. I used so much remover that my fingertips were numb and were dry and cracked for a week after, and there were still bits of glitter on my nails! Any tips? Does wearing maybe two coats of basecoat help? I just got into the Nfu-Oh glitters, but the removal problems may put me off them! Also, how is Nfu-Oh pronounced??

No I’m not but my grandparents are from that area of the Gulf Coast and celebrate. So, it’s been passed down to me! :)

    Hi Teresa,

I think these would look really cool on top of other colors also. These actually weren’t too snaggy and I think would have been fairly smooth after maybe two coats of Seche or Poshe.

    Hi Frankie,

What I do when removing glitters is I soak a cotton ball in remover then let it sit on my nail for like 5-10 seconds. Then I wipe from base area to tip and don’t go back over it with the same cotton ball or the glitter will just spread around. Nfu-Oh is pronounced “en-foo-oh”supposedly, but I cannot totally confirm that!

These colors are so nice. I actually was in NYC this past weekend, and had the chance to get a mani/pedi at RBL. It was incredible! I chose Chinoise. It really is a man magnet. I had three guys comment on it, and I didn’t even know them!

    Hi Erica,

Very cool, it’s not often men comment on nail polish!
