Precision Color FX for Spring 2009

Hi Internet! Precision is a brand of polish I just tried for the first time and I think I might be hooked…This collection is their spring 2009 collection called Color FX. It’s a really great group of bright festive colors and not a boring one to be had here. The application was different depending on which color, so I’ll make notes of that below. Pics taken in sun with no top coat.

Precision Wait A Melon For Me Precision Color FX for Spring 2009
This is a really great melon-y/coral colored polish that was sheer and jelly like as far as the formula. I needed three good coats to make it opaque enough for me, but it did apply nicely. Very flattering and bright, I really like it!

Precision Pink With A Wink Precision Color FX for Spring 2009
This was the only color in the group that was a shimmery one. This flamingo pink is totally fabulous as far as I’m concerned, I love it! It’s a blue based pink and slightly thicker than the cremes, so you could get away with two coats, but I did three.

Precision The Next It Girl Precision Color FX for Spring 2009
Another really great yellow! I am telling you, yellow is THE color for spring! This yellow is more mustard-y rather than lemon-y and definitely has some orange to it. I SO wanted this color to work on me and it kinda does up close in this pic, but when looking at my whole hand it looks horrific. This one is definitely for people with a different skin tone than mine. As with most yellows, this one too goes on streaky, but after three coats, it evens out nicely.

Precision Honey Dew This Precision Color FX for Spring 2009
I had some issues with the application of this one for some reason. The formula was super sheer and a tad watery so even though I used three coats, I really could have used four. Having said that though, I didn’t use a base coat so doing that might have helped with the streakiness. The color itself is a really great Kermit the Frog green that’s bright, but not neon.

Precision Pur fect FX Precision Color FX for Spring 2009
I really like Pur-fect FX a lot, but don’t necessarily think it’s totally original. I feel as though I have a few colors like this. It’s a grape creme color that needed three coats to get it completely opaque. It leans towards the cool side so ladies that have darker or olive skin might want to try a different color.

Precision Surfin In Maliblue Precision Color FX for Spring 2009

This was my favorite one of this collection. A lot of brands are putting out blue cremes this spring/summer, but this one stands out because it’s SO bright, without being screaming neon. I would call the blue a sky blue and the formula is thicker than some of the others, so you could use two coats. LOVE!

So which ones might you have your eye on? Have you ever used Precision polish and if so, which are your favs?

I got my Precision’s from sparkling* nails on eBay because that’s the only place I could find ‘em! She’s really great to work with and has a fabulous collection of polishes. The cost for these was $5.99 each.

Wait a minute. :sneezes: Okay, now I can continue with which ones I like and dislike.

Can I just that ‘The Next “It” Girl’ is absolutely disgusting in color? It looks like you have jaundice on your fingernails. I’m thinking that color would look better on a darker skin tone. It reminds me of a tartan jacket. Ich.

I’m in love with ‘Wait a Melon for Me’ and ‘Pur-fect FX.’ I do have fou–three violet-based lacquers (Eiffel for You, Yes, I Can-Can! and Parlez-Vous OPI?). Tickle Me France-y is all gone! :cries: I need to hit the mall to buy a new bottle! I do need, though, a grape lacquer.

I’m on the fence with ‘Honey Dew This’ and ‘Surfin’ in Maliblue.’ The former is a little too watermelon colored for me and would prefer it a bit brighter and darker. The latter is just HORRIBLY bright. It needs to be toned down a few notches.

‘Pink with a Wink’ would just not look right with my pink skintone. On your skin it looks pretty. Light pinks are okay for my skin though.

Have you tried Sally Hansen’s salon nail lacquer in “Navy Baby?” I’m in love with that nail lacquer (opaque in one coat, I added two). Love that color! If only “Pink About It” didn’t disappoint me.

    Hi Kate,

I totally agree about The Next “It” Girl on me, it was sadly bad.

Definitely get a grape one, it’s such a fabulous color!

    I
LOVED the brightness of Surfin In Maliblue, it’s what made it stand out
to me and not look like a lot of other light blue cremes.

I haven’t tried that Sally Hanson color, it’s sounds nice!

    Very nice colors.
I’ve never tried any Precision colors before but I might have to look into that green. =) Are there any close dupes to it you can think of offhand? It reminds me of Carolyn NY Greenwich Ave a little.

Oh, yes, you must try “Navy Baby.” The site says it’s a frost but in the bottle and on my nails it doesn’t look frosty at all. I imagine frost being like Jessica polishes with that frosty finish. It’s a navy blue that appears black indoors but outside in the sun it’s definitely navy.

Oh, by the way, it looks like you can buy Precision nail lacquers online at the company’s website ($2.95) and at nailsone.com ($3.25).

You have to try “Navy Baby.” The company says it’s a frost, but it sure doesn’t apply like one. When I think of frost, I think of Jessica nail polishes that the finish looks like frost when dried. I didn’t have any streak problems or bubble problems.

Oh, by the way, you can purchase Precision nail lacquers at their site Lamoonbeauty.com (or google search lamoon beauty) for $2.95 after you create an account for free and at nailsone.com for $3.25. I don’t know the shipping costs though.

    Hi Kate,

Maybe I will try Navy Baby then!

I did see some Precision’s at those sites, thanks, but they don’t have the newest stuff. Thanks for the info though!

    Hi Christine,

You are right, the green one does looks a little like Greenwich Ave, but it’s not quite as bright and definitely not as opaque.

  • Ohh, those are great. Thanks for the swatches :) I can’t wait to get my Precisions!
